I share your sentiment in regards to the Incase bag! I purchased an Incase laptop bag 9+ years ago and I still use it to this day. It is the best quality built bag that lasts forever!
Thank you! If you think this is professional, you really can't be watching too many of these ha! I watch loads of tech review channels and those guys are killing it with crispy visuals. Look up MKBHD or TLD for example...
Another awesome video and solid new items. I bellive this video format is very good, you can consider doing more gear videos in the future. Travel ones are also great maybe you can add more short vlog kind of videos. Congrats on 15.000 subs!
Thanks! I think I will try and do these types of videos every few months or so, to show the items used to make the other videos that I post. I'll keep it fairly loose as far as a schedule goes, because I don't want to make them for the sake of making them! Did any item stand out for you in this video?
+Joe Allam " I don't want to make them for the sake of making them! " I believe that's why even your travel vlogs has professional quality! I am an incase fan but it's really hard to find their new products in my country.. Also I like to keep my tech items organized so those pouches are very nice!
Your channel is up there in my top three favourites to watch, always professional and exceptional quality.. only downside is you just made me spend £142 on that back pack haha! Love the tech hauls, keep em comin' :-)
Thanks Emma! ☺️ I hope you enjoy the bag as much as I do! You're lucky its now available in the UK. I finally justified the price to myself in panic that I'd never see it again! Out of interest, who are the other two RUclipsrs in your top 3? 😉
Only just seen you replied.. I have been loving the backpack; it's everything I hoped it would be!..I kind of watch a broad range of channels but for photography I love your channel, andrewtkearns channel, and also love Ted Forbes - is there any channels you would recommend? I'd actually love to see a video on where/who you get your inspiration from! :-)
Great video! I really like the clean presentation of everything and all your pointers are really informative! One question though, what watch strap are you wearing in the video? It looks awesome!
Just came across your work. Very professional yet still a nice friendly approach. One of the best I've seen. I'm a newbie armed with a GoPro 6 and iPhone x looking to find best gimbal and drone for myself. Currently thinking mavic air due to portability. (Could use footage from GoPro and air together somewhow in editing ..yes?) and zhiyun smooth 4. Honest thoughts pls and others I should consider? I'm going to learn a lot here as well as getting insights into equipment. That bag is spot on for a 2/3 day city break and carry on plane size yes? Thx so much...I'm feeling inspired.
Hi Joe. Awesome video! I was just wondering what size did you buy of the Hakuba soft box insert to fit nicely in the incase eo travel backpack? thank you for your time.
I'm not 100% sure unfortunately. I know it wasn't the smallest one and not the largest, but not sure how many medium sized they have. I physically took my bag into Yodabashi with me to get the right fit.
Konnichiwa from Canada :) (edit: answered my question 4 minutes into the video :P) Did you go to Yodobashi or BIC camera? :) I bought my first DSLR at Fujiya Camera, a small camera store in Tokyo (near Nakano station) that had a great selection of new and grey market items. Yesterday, (8 months after my trip to Japan) I upgraded to a D7100, which is one of the best bodies I've ever seen (while researching :P) and I am DYING to go back to Japan to buy all sorts of stuff for it. What I do know is that if I ever go back, I will never come back home. And that the staff at any one of those camera stores will want to kick me out for loitering and drooling, but will be too polite and professional to actually follow through with it. Great video :)
I'm really sorry but I can't find them online anywhere. The inside label says "Browny" if that's any help? I actually went back into the store I got them from to get more, but they weren't there anymore.
The trouble is, the prices are always changing. I did it in the past and had people complain about them being out of date as they were on offer at the time of making the video. Everything is linked in the description below, so it's only a click away!
Haha! I have to practice it in my head before I say it out loud, but I actually looked it up when I first heard about the brand a couple of years back when they started getting big on the smartphone scene.
Hey, I bought this and used it like you. I travel and do photography. But one of my straps broke, it doesn't seem to handle weight very well. Especially when it's fully loaded with a laptop, camera gear and three days worth of clothes.
Oh no! That's not good at all! So far my bag is doing really well and I carry it with my Mac every single day. My old Incase bag is still pretty much as good as new too. I've not tried this new one with loads of clothes yet though. To be honest, I'd never be putting much camera gear in here anyway; it would only really be my Sony and a microphone if ever.
Face values are generally cheap, but it depends on what you are after and your own circumstances. I suggest thinking of: - warranty. Unless the item is sold as overseas/tourist models, different manufacturers offer warranty in different ways. "lenses come with worldwide warranty, but bodies", "Japanese warranty only", etc. - the camera display language. On Canon, Nikon, I believe English is available but I doubt other languages. Japanese Sony A7 series only has Japanese, no choice. Buttttt, in several major retailers, check over "Sony Overseas/Tourist Model catalogue" featuring some models with several other display languages and overseas warranty as well. I hope you a happy shopping and a great stay.
Love your videos! So happy I came across your channel one day. I've been trying to catch up on all of your videos from the past. They are all so well done. I do video reviews of gear myself and I need to get much better at video production/editing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching your videos to come!
Hello Joe. I found your video while looking for info/reviews of the Incase EO Travel Backpack. I live in Tokyo and that would really help if you could tell me where you bought it. Do you remember? Oh, and great video by the way, your review of the bag, even though a bit quick, is nice!
Ah amazing! I'm jealous you get to experience Tokyo every day! I bought the bag at Loft in Ikebukuro. I specifically remember only seeing it in that particular Loft, but you may be able to get it in other stores as well.
Thanks for your answer! I'll go have a look in Shibuya first, then Ikebukuro if I can't find it. I hope they still sell it, I want to try it before buying!
Hey Joe, great video again :) Could you link us some of your pouches for the camera accessories? I am not able to finde them, neither for what to look. In a previous Video you had a Lowepro one as well, right? Would be nice to hear from you :) Keep up the good content. Regards
Unfortunately, I can't find the pouches online anywhere. The inside label says "Browny" and I actually returned to the store I got them from so that I could buy more, but they had sold out. The LowePro pouches are somewhat an urban legend as well. I can't find them ANYWHERE since posting that video. So many people ask me about them as well...
It depends on what you're buying to be honest. I think the pouches and small bags will be a higher quality in Japan and probably cheaper, but the technology may be a gamble between the two. I struggled to find the Zeiss lenses I was after at a good price in HK, which is why I waited til I got to Japan to get it. It's also easier to make sure you're getting genuine products in Japan than Hong Kong, so be weary of where you buy things.
Ha cheers! I actually have no idea about those particular slippers! There are SO many in the house, it's a pretty Japanese thing to do. You could try visiting MUJI if you have one near you, they do some great Japanese slippers.
I'd like to know, if there is a bag like this, which at the same time gives quick access to a DSLR and it's lenses AND is big enough to hold clothes for several days like for small journeys. This bags looks perfect it size and accessories, but it lags it's functionality as a camera bag (as you told in a comment). I wished, there would be a better one. There are a lot of bags, but no one is stylish, BIG and offers quick access to DSLR. ;( But thanks anyway for your great vid. I like this b
Stumbled across this great channel. Really really love your work :) I'm from the UK too and off to Japan next month, AND I know just what to add on my shopping list :D Thanks Joe, looking forward to seeing more from you mate (y)
In Japan, they like boxes within boxes. Pouches within pouches. It is a reflection of a compartmentalised and siloed culture. e.g. my colleagues from work are kind of allergic to introduce me to friends, family. All compartmentalized. Maybe after knowing a guy for 5 years he might think about introducing you to his family (maybe). This does happen though in other countries but it is kind of extreme here.
Absolutely - For years I've been laughing at how sweets are packaged individually in separate pouches within multibags! For packing bags and designing/building physical things, modular workflows are great!
Hey man. How are the prices (new and second hand) for lenses en cameras compared to the UK? I am planning a year long trip to Asia and thinking about starting off in Japan/Hong Kong. Any tips? Thanks! :)
+Oane de Vries Hong Kong has real cheap brand-new cameras and lenses. I recommend Borwin Digital as they don't cheat. www.price.com.hk/starshop.php?s=2454 You can click the link and search for your most loved lenses. The price with the blue logo means that it is not under Hong Kong's local agent warranty but that doesn't matter anyway as you are not living in either Hong Kong or Japan. If you really want to buy some of lenses listed, you can message them through this Facebook page facebook.com/borwindigital/ You can also pick up the lenses or cameras in all MTR stations. Feel free to ask them Hope this can help.
Wow 960 euros for a d610 instead of 1399 here in Holland. I can get that camera with and 85mm 1.8g for the same price as a body alone here :P Thanks for the info!
Thanks for chiming in with some thorough and helpful advice! You got through the comments way earlier than I managed to! Have an awesome time in HK and Japan by the way!
Thanks! I bought the D610 here because of the warranty but will definetaly do some shopping for lenses and accessoiries :) will it be a problem bringing that stuff through customs after visiting?
That's fair enough! It's not a problem with customs if the products are yours. In other words, so long as you're not buying them to be sold on in other countries. This would be flagged for obvious concern if you bought in large quantities or if things were kept in sealed boxes. The simple way to avoid this, is to open the boxes and use the products as if they are your own, which is what you would be doing anyway. Just remember, when the customs form asks if you have "commercial goods" to declare, this means items bought to be sold on to someone else. Not general items bought for yourself.
I don't speak Japanese, though I can understand a lot of conversations through tone of voice and body language. Elly speaks Japanese and of course her whole family is from Japan so I have quite an extensive amount of experience within The Japanese culture.
Idk what it is but I've been through so many 3rd party cables even off market brands from eBay and amazon, this Apple lightning cables just never last a good 6months. Someone help please 😭😭
I'm really not sure to be honest. Incase are a US company and the exchange rate is all over the place at the moment due to world politics. You'll have to check out amazon.com vs .co.jp for an accurate update.
Elly does a lot of photography and posts on her Instagram as well as part of jellyjourneys.com. She also contributes to a lot of the filming and planning of these videos.
A small question - has anyone tried this method unzipping/folding-out the laptop compartment and putting it through the security conveyor belt? I get the inkling they may still want me to take the laptop out completely...but if not, I'll be doing this from here on forth in my travels!
Yep I've done this on every flights since leaving Japan (3 so far) No problems at all! You do have to use two trays though, but I usually have a train of about 5 with all my accessories like coats, pocket items, belt, shoes and bags etc.
Varies. I recently visited and picked up a new panaleica 15 mm f1.7 for $360 and a used 25 mm f1.4 for $300 in Japan which is much cheaper compared to US pries.
I'd suggest looking more carefully at your lighting situation next time, could be a one off but in this video its much too hard to see the details on whatever items your're holding, also it seems like during editing the contrast was pushed too high. Just an opinion to help you in future videos :)
Yeah it is a one-off in this one as it's the only time I've filmed in this room. I hear you on the contrast issues, I thought it myself. The reason is simple: I had no portable lighting with me (as I'm travelling) and I somehow managed to film this video in a photo related picture profile, rather than S-Log2. So I had limited control with the colour and exposure. That contrasty look is actually native to the Sony in heavily compressed video - yuck! Given the mistake of filming the entire sequence in a slightly wrong setting, I thought I'd been able to control it enough for the video to still play on without being too distracting. So far, it seems as though only you and I have anything to say about it! Thanks for the thoughts though...
I worked an absolute shit load in the year prior to travelling to build up loads of savings. I'm now in Australia and working again to save up for the next load of travel...
this is the first video I've seen of you and I can see why you've gained such a great following! Not sure why, but your voice is so calming!XD
I share your sentiment in regards to the Incase bag! I purchased an Incase laptop bag 9+ years ago and I still use it to this day. It is the best quality built bag that lasts forever!
Yeah man they're amazing!
Wow maybe it's just that I don't watch many of these review videos, but this is probably the most professional one I've seen! Great video Joe!
Thank you! If you think this is professional, you really can't be watching too many of these ha! I watch loads of tech review channels and those guys are killing it with crispy visuals. Look up MKBHD or TLD for example...
I love japanese quality. Last time I was there I went crazy over the notebooks and paper products. Feels like I stocked up for years of little books!
It's the first time I watch your video and I think you're great!
I wanna know, what watch are you wearing in this video?
I really like how you graded your film! Yet another great content, Joe! Cheers :)
I really love this style of video Joe! Awesome man!
Glad you liked it. Was there a particular product that caught your eye?
Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara is the flagship store. If you haven't been there it's way bigger than the others in Tokyo.
I am going to Tokyo in 2 weeks so excited. can't wait to visit Yodobashi camera store :)

Just went online to look up incase backpacks. Be sure to put that on my wish list.
Their quality, functionality and style all work seamlessly together. No pun intended ha!

Great video, Joe! Thank you for the informative and enjoyable presentation.
What does the bookbag look like when you store your camera gear?
You earned another subscriber by how neat the information you given amazingly.
Great review. Lightening cable will be obsolete at some point though.
Hey I'm going to japan tomorrow, any advice on purchasing things? Such as camera lenses
Great video! I really like the clean presentation of everything and all your pointers are really informative! One question though, what watch strap are you wearing in the video? It looks awesome!
Nice haul. Love the bag.
Cheers! I've been using it for the past couple of months since filming this video and I love it even more!
Yodobashi is the greatest store. Every section is the size of most other stores departments. 6 aisles of headphones.
It really is! I lost count how many times I went to the store in a month. I just didn't explore it all in a single day, it was too overwhelming!
is Yodobashi only in Japan?
Leo Trainor yes
Great video! What watch is that? I really like the band.
great video ....enjoyed your content and presentation...isnt Yodabasi just fantastic...I could spend all day in their shops....cheers alan
I LOVE Yodabashi! Such a great store! The staff in there are really knowledgeable too and really try to help, even if there is a language barrier!
I found one of these at a local thrift shop, like new. Looked like it was a promo thing for facebook employees. I can't wait to use it.

Love all the bags! Does the wifi work in the U.S. or just in Japan? Thanks 4 sharing.
Love the video! Was actually wondering about your watch actually. Can I ask where you got it?
your videos are so good! Big inspiration to all the new youtubers
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying them - I'm always learning and trying to better myself with each video!
I remember this being one of the first videos of yours I watched, showed up on my feed just now 😄✌🏽 hi from 2022
Hey, i have the same mobile wifi. Mine is white tho.
you can go all day connected to 4g with that thing.
Seriously beautiful way to make some one keep tight his seat belt and see the awesome stuff from u. Keep going joe.
Haha cheers! Seatbelt fastened indeed!
+Joe Allam any plan to visit india? Tweet me at @iArpeet
A lot of people ask me this, and I'm very interested in visiting. Though I have no plans as such yet.
These videos are always awesome! 👍🏻
Cheers Adrian! Thanks for the continued support ✌️
Thank you for the Native Union night cable information, I've been looking for something like this and could never find it.
You can always count on Joe's videos to have a ridiculously high production value :)
+Joe Allam No problem :) i think ill do the same. Thank you for the reply :)
U can pick the belkin audio splitter in the WhSmith, Uk
Good to know! Thanks 👍🏻
Just found your channel, great video and subscribed straight away!
The bag is pretty nice actually. Too bad it's not available in my country :(
Yeah it's a shame it's not available everywhere. Though I have seen that you can now get it in the UK...
Konnichiwa from Canada :)
(edit: answered my question 4 minutes into the video :P) Did you go to Yodobashi or BIC camera? :) I bought my first DSLR at Fujiya Camera, a small camera store in Tokyo (near Nakano station) that had a great selection of new and grey market items. Always love getting an upload from yu Joe. Huge inspiration man!
Cheers man!
what is the brand of the pouch at 5:09?
I'm really sorry but I can't find them online anywhere. The inside label says "Browny" if that's any help? I actually went back into the store I got them from to get more, but they weren't there anymore.
Oh i see, thanks anyway
YOU'RE LITERALLY FUCKING EVERYWHERE. FunForLouis, Marzbar, Casey and now Joe?! Holy shit
Very good video !
It would be nice if you could tell the prices of each item in the video !
The trouble is, the prices are always changing. I did it in the past and had people complain about them being out of date as they were on offer at the time of making the video. Everything is linked in the description below, so it's only a click away!
Joe, what was the store you got the Hakuba from? I can't quite make out what you're saying in the vid....
He said Yodobashi Camera Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo :)
Great channel Joe, and congratulations, your the first person I have seen pronounce Huawei correctly lol 👍
Haha! I have to practice it in my head before I say it out loud, but I actually looked it up when I first heard about the brand a couple of years back when they started getting big on the smartphone scene.
+Joe Allam I work in the industry and you will be surprised how many people pronounce it differently, Hawaii is a personal favourite haha
Im heading off to japan this winter can't wait! I'm looking at buying a new DSLR camera are they also cheaper there?
Depends, what brand are you looking to get. Getting a sony would be a lot cheaper. Choose a native japanese brand
to be honest i love Cannon but id be keen to give sony a go also
Sony A7sii is about $1000 more in Japan than in the US.... It's not cheaper here and they only sell Japanese language models.
thanks man!
Face values are generally cheap, but it depends on what you are after and your own circumstances. I suggest thinking of:
- warranty.
Nice Video!!, just asking where you bought the loft wooden USB lighting cable? :)
Haha, I bought those cloves too when I traveled to Japan last year.
So you went to Japan and bought Belkin (American), Western Digital (American), Huawei (China), Zeiss (Germany), and Fuji (Japan).
First time watching! I'm really into your color grading in your videos! Just hit the subscribe button, Haha
Cheers! I'm pretty crazy about wanting to push the colours in all my videos, so I'm glad people enjoy them!
You are neat, organized and stylish!

Yeah definitely try and see it if you can! It's an expensive bag, but a great investment in my opinion!
Hey Joe,
great video again :)
Could you link us some of your pouches for the camera accessories?
I am not able to finde them, neither for what to look.
In a previous Video you had a Lowepro one as well, right?
Would be nice to hear from you :)
Keep up the good content.

Thanks Joe! So I guess I have to figure it out by myself :) I will go on a hunt.
Thanks for getting back to me though
My partner did the same thing when he visited and got the Sony a7III for a bargain!!
Nice video. I am traveling Tokyo in Oct.
Do you know the price comparison between Hong Kong and Japan ?
Thank you.
It depends on what you're buying to be honest. I think the pouches and small bags will be a higher quality in Japan and probably cheaper, but the technology may be a gamble between the two. Ha cheers! I actually have no idea about those particular slippers! There are SO many in the house, it's a pretty Japanese thing to do. You could try visiting MUJI if you have one near you, they do some great Japanese slippers.
+Joe Allam thanks man appreciate the reply keep up the quality videos
Dude! Where is that jumper from? Looks soooo nice :)
Cheers! It's another Japan purchase... from Uni Qlo
Awesome Joe! Loving your stuff at the moment :)
Did you buy the bag in Japan?
Yes, all of the items shared in this video were bought in Japan.
I am wondering where can I buy the camera box and the lens case in the U.S?
Nice things! Got to try these bags one day!
Have you been in the philippines its right next to you try stay there for a day or week its beautiful place..

Given that you've visited a lot of stores, do you speak nihongo or do you have someone with you who does the talking? :)
I don't speak Japanese, though I can understand a lot of conversations through tone of voice and body language. Elly speaks Japanese and of course her whole family is from Japan so I have quite an extensive amount of experience within The Japanese culture.
Thanks for all the great tech info! Just loaded up my Amazon wish list.
No worries! I hope I didn't encourage you to spend too much...
great video! how did you get verified??
Idk what it is but I've been through so many 3rd party cables even off market brands from eBay and amazon, this Apple lightning cables just never last a good 6months. Someone help please 😭😭

awesome video allam, just subscribed .. looking forward to your uploads, the incase bag is awesome, i just fell in love :D
Hey! Yes that bag is really amazing, I too fell in love when I discovered it!
how heavy is your bag total weight ?
Hey i liked that bag. Is there a big difference on the price in Japan compared to America?
I'm really not sure to be honest. Incase are a US company and the exchange rate is all over the place at the moment due to world politics. You'll have to check out amazon.com vs .co.jp for an accurate update.
subscribed when i saw the intro transition
Is Eli also a youtuber or photographer if either work in this field ? Hope I herd her name correctly
Elly does a lot of photography and posts on her Instagram as well as part of jellyjourneys.com. She also contributes to a lot of the filming and planning of these videos.

Respect For You ! 👍😀
Thank you and welcome! Glad you liked the video!
You do have to use two trays though, but I usually have a train of about 5 with all my accessories like coats, pocket items, belt, shoes and bags etc.
great video mate! Subscribed...!
Is japan cheaper than the US?
Varies. I recently visited and picked up a new panaleica 15 mm f1.7 for $360 and a used 25 mm f1.4 for $300 in Japan which is much cheaper compared to US pries.
“hehe handy” classic Joe

Ohhh man that Incase bag! 😍
Oh baby, what a bag indeed! ✌️😬
Can anyone suggest best laptop backpack with good space in under 100usd
Thanks for the thoughts though...
love the video!
Thanks! Which product was your favourite?
+Joe Allam because I have a a7 Mk 2 , I really like the Zeiss lenses. I would like to know how much it costed you because il be flying there soon!
Hello Joe, how do you afford to keep yourself alive while travelling?
I worked an absolute shit load in the year prior to travelling to build up loads of savings. I'm now in Australia and working again to save up for the next load of travel...
great video thanks for the info
