The woman who bought the house in 2000 (I believe), purchased it because she raised her kids in Astoria and they always loved that house. She absolutely knows the movie was filmed there and for many years let people come up. Your second story is correct about people taking pieces of her house and coming up in the middle of the night, etc. I know the owner and she's a beautiful person. She now allows people to walk up her driveway again. I've been in the house a couple of times, it's definitely hard to recognize certain rooms/areas....but still really awesome!!

So I know you made this like 2 years ago, but I, tragically, only found your channel recently... So during my binging of you videos I came across this one. As far as the Cyndi Lauper song... According to Wikipedia the song was written for the movie and originally was titled "Good Enough," however Warner Bros wanted it to be more tightly tied into the movie so they renamed it "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." A cool side note: Steven Spielberg had made Lauper the musical director for the Goonies soundtrack, so she included her friend's newly formed band "The Bangles," who hadn't really hit the mainstream yet. Anyway, Cyndi HATED the song and refused to play it for a long time, until she only recently finally caved due to fan pressure and started singing a small portion of the song. Evidently she now includes it in her live concerts as it's such a big fan favorite. Anyway, LOVE the video. I genuinely love and appreciate the "Scott touch" you put into your videos, which make them super entertaining, funny, and informative. You deserve your own show on Network TV, along with a big ol' fat check to go with it! 😂🙂 Thank you for taking us along for this wild ride!
I'm 34 when I was 5 my mum had to bin the goonies VHS as every night for a year my mum said I had to watch after school 🚸 it drove her crazy she said lol having a binge on scott on tape today
I know this is an older video but my grandpa lived in Astoria and I was in town when they were filming but they wouldn't let anyone near the set or actors, I get it and it was cool but I did get to see the house up close a few years later, I was also there when they filmed Kindergarten Cop but my grandpa wasn't a huge fan of Arnold so we didn't get to see them filming. Great video sir, hope you liked the Oregon coast as much as I do.
Ok here's the real scoop - 'cause I've been there three times, have met the owner - Sandi Preston - and toured the house. Firstly, she's owned the house for almost two decades. She's not a new or recent owner. Second, she's allowed for people to walk up the driveway to the house for years. In addition, she would gives tours of the house for various charitable causes. When the 30th Anniversary of the film happened in Astoria (in 2015), "Joe Public" descended on the town and caused a ton of problems - from parking where they weren't supposed to, to littering, to entering private property to get footage of the house from different angles, and in a couple instances - pissing in people's yards because they were too lazy to wait and find a public toilet. That's from the owner herself. People made the town a nightmare for the folks who reside there. So if anyone is to blame, it's the fans - and the public. They took advantage of a good situation for Goonies enthusiasts to visit this location. I don't blame the lady one bit for saying "that's enough" and going on with her life. She doesn't owe anybody anything because of the house she chose to buy. You can still visit the County Jail (which is now a film museum) and the Flavel House - both of which give ample nostalgic goodness. Cheers!

I used to live in Astoria, Oregon, and also had a friend that owned a B&B there and she did a ton of business with out of towners that used to stay there, all to see the Goonies house and also see where Kindergarten Cop was filmed. Though there were several movies filmed there along with many commercials and scenes to other famous movies. The goonies house, as well as the one next door, were for sale and my friend, thinking about buying it, but to have all private baths and such would have cost too much. The last Sale on the house was a great price.
@@SCOTTONTAPE I will find out as I have friends that still live there, I guess the current owners did not know when they bought that house that it was the "goonies" house.
