Can't believe it took 39 yrs to finally turn this book into a movie. This was my favorite book when I was 16. The first gay romance I ever read. The ending left me absolutely gutted and haunted for years. I highly recommend reading the book. "Dance on my Grave" by Aidan Chambers!!!❤🏳️🌈
@@johnnycute4388 "Dance on My Grave" by Aiden Chambers. The book is amazing. It's a great book for young gay boys to read, it will make an impact on their life.
Finally someone who realizes this is actually a book! The book is from around 1982 and is set in Southend-on-Sea, England. I loved it as a teenager and re-read it some years ago. It is a remarkable book. The boys will always be Hal and Barry to me. Not to forget Spike, of course.
Just watched for the first time. Absolutely amazing movie, and really resonates with the standards of today, instead of a usual happy ending. The way I see it, this movie can be interpreted two ways. Alex really loved David, and while David also had obvious feelings for Alex, he also wanted more fun with others and didn’t want a relationship with Alex. Maybe he regretted hurting Alex in the end, but the essence of the movie really is being told through Alex’s vision and his ideal image of David. Alex wanted his perfect partner and projected that onto David. Ultimately after the grievance, we can see at the end Alex is trying to move on and doesn’t let this define his life, rather seeing it as a moment in his past, also known as the Summer of 85. It’s honestly a great story of first love, followed by heartbreak, grief and ultimately moving on.

@DannyM71 yes, I relate to David's personality, and I think that, if he was not in love yet, cared a lot about Alex, at least. in my opinion, it's obvious in the way he looks at him, in the way he kissed him, that he was very passionate about him. i think he told Alex he was bored because he was angry, they argued and David didn't want to be the one rejected, he thought Alex wouldn't forgive him and he destroyed everything with harsh words he didn't tought, because he was hurt and didn't want to show it, he wanted to hurt Alex, and all of that behavior so there would have been nothing left to safe, no regrets. in the book too, it's written in a way that makes me having this opinion, and the way David cried and went to catch Alex after their arguing. I'm sure he wanted to explain himself and have him back, because when Alex left, David realized only at that moment how much he cared about him, because before maybe he was afraid to commit in a serious couple, he was scared to be too much attached to someone, and that's why he acted like his relationship with Alex hadn't any importance.

Love me the way I would you and it would be an enduring love even into old age. I've found I have a very deep well of patience and empathy. I would appreciate the same kindness in return. I am still in love today with all the individuals I've dated. If I went back in time and made other choices to stay with them (if it was my choice) I would still be with most, maybe married them. I let some go out of love (they needed to grow and find who they were in a new place). I let others go out of fear. I without intention accidentally hurt some of them (which I would take back if possible).. I hold nothing but love even today for these individuals (some of whom I am still friends with). If you are destined for it, it will find you provided you are open to it--romantic love. However this is not everyone's path and that's ok too.
