- Come with us as we build a Galaxy's Edge Droid - R5-D4 (Red) - the self-sacrificing droid from Episode IV, A New Hope. We'll take you through the complete process, from choosing your parts on the conveyor belt to activating our new buddy. We also tested all the Personality Chips so you can hear them for your own.
Looking at all the available parts, what Droid would you build? There are so many choices!
Droid type - BB / R-Series / C-Series
Colors - head / body / legs / front & side panels
Personality chip - First Order / Resistance / Scoundrel
Backpack or no backpack
As of Oct 2022, the basic droid build package has just gone up in price from $99 to $119 . This does not include the personality chip or backpack, and custom Droid builds are not eligible for discounts.

I too built an R5-D4 droid and bought a resistance personality chip for him. I wanted all three primary droids from A New Hope, and now I have them. One mistake a lot of people make when building R5 is they put red inserts into the legs instead of the blue inserts. I was so happy to see you went with the correct inserts too. I was also pleasantly surprised that you know the back story between R2 and R5 when they were on the sand crawler. As badly as R5 wanted to be sold, he gave up his chance when he realized what R2 was carrying and how important it was for him to get off first.
Nice collection! I saw Red in the Mandalorian season3 preview and can't wait to see what the little hero does!
Which personality chip is R5D4????
The vintage Kenner R5 D4 had red leg inserts.
@@scottmorrison147 That may be true, but the droid in A New Hope clearly had blue inserts.
If it had red inserts, it would be r5-d8

Which chip is best because I’m going to make one and I need it to be accurate
I have to be honest, I don't remember for sure. I believe a blue chip would work, but when you are there, the Cast Members have a way to let you listen to each chip so you can choose the best one. Good luck with your build!

The cost of the build is $119 + tax. Then there are upgrades like personality chips, additional arms, etc - can't remember the prices for those. And there's also a backpack which is $49.99. Are you planning on building a Droid soon?
