One of the greatest things about Ward Kimball and Walt Disney were that they took their inspiration and created something that in turn inspired kids ten fold for generations to come. That was their greatest gift to the world, giving each and every one of us the same inspiration and imagination they found when they were kids.
Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing it on the Disney Channel back in the 80's (when the Disney Channel was still actually about WALT Disney and his cohorts ... they used run great stuff like this Disney Famil Album)
Ward Kimball was the co-creator of Jiminy Cricket, along with Walt Disney. He was one of the unsung heroes of Disney Studios-back when they were centering all credit on the Boss.
@CartoonFan56 oh no, it wasn't torn down, his house and the whole property is still intact, currently for sale, the tracks were torn up though. the engine house and firehouse still stand. the locomotives, Chloe and Emma, and rolling stock went to the Orange Empire railroad museum.

Ward Kimball is to Disney as Tex Avery is to MGM/Universal/Hanna Barberra* (Tom&Jerry company) as Chuck Jones is to Warner Bros.

So this is the guy I have to thank for creating Casey Junior, amazing!
Ward Kimball was a hardcore railfan, I would have loved to meet him. Everything from Grizzlyflats is now at the Orange County railroad museum.
