To do the oil change you will need:
The new engine oil must be fully synthetic and compliant to the VW standard: VW 502 00
The engine oil is Castrol Magnatec 5W30
You can use any brand and 5W40 too it all depends on the temperatures where you will use the car.
In a really cold area you might need to use a different oil.
Oil filter is a Mann HU710 but you can use any brand as long as it's made for this engine.
You need a new oil drain plug (bolt) and also a new crush-washer ( copper) for the drain plug.
Please DO NOT throw away the old oil outside or in the garbage.
Please take the old oil to your usual gas station or service and give it to be recycled.
They can recycle the old oil for you and you help keep nature clean.
Changing the oil yourself is a DIY service job that makes you save some money, keep your budget in order and more important, you know that good quality oil is used on your car and not changed with something else.

I’ve changed it a few years ago but didn’t film it.
From what I remember, it’s on the right side of the engine near the radiator hose connection. Has a connector and when you take it out coolant will come out too.
It’s plastic so be careful when removing / installing it. :/ please don’t forget to subscribe.

The metal oring on the oil bolt (under the motor) has to be changed every time or can be used the same?

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  3 года назад

The crush washer needs to be changed every time. Can't remember if I said it in the video.
You could reuse it now I guess but that washer is there to seal and prevent damage to the threading inside the oil sump. You should still not over-tighten it but with a fresh washer, it will take the shape of the bolt.

Is this 1.4 tdi? I have a 1.4 tdi 2007 ibiza 80hp , i suck the oil from the oil stick tube and it's much easier to do :)
How do you know how much pressure to use to close the oil filter with the wrench?

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  5 лет назад

      It's a 1.2 engine petrol.
      That also works well.
With the oil filter it's easy, when the filter reaches the limit it won't spin anymore. You feel the resistance change as you spin it.
I usually put it back by hand but with the wrench, just stop when it won't spin anymore.

    • @IONHowTo

Hello, you can use a suction pump to draw oil from above.
The bolt and crush waster are very cheap at general hardware stores.
You could reuse the bolt if the threads are super clean like new but the crush waster is one time use only. In an emergency, put them back together and don't over-tighten then change oil asap again.

Thank you for your explanation video, but you miss some stuff here:
    - Always use gloves for these jobs, its the first thing i do, these oils enter easily in your skin and into your body, also is more easier to have your hands clean after the job :). Also is better to use a better shoes when doing this.
    - I didnt see you changing the smaller orings on the oil filter, only the big one. Its a good idea to buy a filter with all of these orings.
    - Find some socket extension to remove the oil plug, and keep the arm/hand in the upper side, so when the plug is going to come off you can easily tilt a little bit up and then all the oil will go to the basket.
You can check my video doing this on a VW Passat, different car but the process is the same.

    • @IONHowTo

Normally you change the filter when you change the oil afaik.
Use a filter made by a known manufacturer and visually inspect it to make sure that filter material is not broken.
I think I show in the video that you should put some fresh oil in the new filter before installing it.
