sure you can vaal and hope you get lucky but how / where do the greater and perfect jeweler orbs drop?.. instead of buying... just higher maps? i'm currently just getting into end game, around tier 3/4 maps, havn't seen any uncut gems past 14 and only lesser jeweler's orbs.. is there something specific to farm for those? is there a vendor recipe? people are getting them somehow to be able to sell them...
Didnt know vaal orbs were important, just randomly tried it on first try and got a socket and dismantled the gem coz i thought being corrupted was useless.
That should be unlocked by one of the npcs, most likely from Alva or someone in Act 3. I'm still in act 2 myself, so not 100% certain. I think you also only get hideout access after completing act 3/ Cruel 3.
Hopefully this doesn't get nerfed.. was hoping this Reddit post wouldn't get picked up because honestly I bet GGG nerfs this and makes it either harder to do or impossible
But this will get you progress so you can have currency for later. Hoarding currency for later makes for unfun play and burn out with a bunch of currency for never.
edit: you cant apparently, sry^^ To add to that: you can 100% farm lesser jeweller orbs in act 3 sandswept marsh at orok campfire. loot the crate, drop, reset zone and done =)
Correct. This is a a potentially very expensive gamble (depending on your RNG) which results in a deadend gem that you'll eventually need to sell off to progress further.
12 tries and nothing, I know RNG sucks sometimes but come on game. At this point it would have been cheaper to just purchase one. Thanks for the tip regardless!

@@Fancy.BLeveling the gem might be intended since in poe1 even if a gem is corrupted you can still level it so I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed in poe2
I think they will keep it in some form. It's still a trade off, you can't make it a 6 link. So It's going to cost you in the long run for more instant power. Maybe they will change the chance of getting the roll
Corrupted Items can be altered with special recepies in the crafting bench (POE1) and special corrupted currency. Since you can in POE2 just just a uncut gem, that seems to be a a bug

How did you use it on quarterstaff? In PS5, when I try use the orb, I can't select any weapon skill (weapon icon), only regular gems.
those just level as you do, Im not even really using that skill for anything other than holding gems

I think its intended, always worked like this in poe 1, corrupted gems can be levelled up but cannot be modified further.

They drop starting in cruel difficulty. Not sure about act 1, but I had two drop in act 2.

It's Alva, she has currency exchange for various things. Not gear tho

It does, but as a temporary power boost before you acquire a lot of currency to make a proper 6 socket, this is a way cheaper option.
