Things to Do in MEDICINE HAT, ALBERTA! (Beer, paddle-boarding, history, and more)

- Believe it or not, this was our first time in Medicine Hat! Working with Tourism Medicine Hat, we tried amazing beers from three different breweries, visited the world's tallest tepee, went paddleboarding down the South Saskatchewan River (it looks like Arizona or the Grand Canyon at times), and learned all about what was once one of the biggest pottery factories in Canada.
If you're looking for some road trip ideas within Alberta, this is a good one to do!

We’re Matt & Karla, a Canadian couple with two totally different backgrounds.
Matt is the “quintessentially Canadian”, born under the northern lights in Northern Alberta with family all over the country, whereas Karla is originally from Mexico City, bringing a totally fresh perspective to a country she has fallen in love with.
Over the past 10 years, we have travelled to 42 countries spanning six continents, which has given us the expertise to plan amazing trips and find memorable experiences.
In 2017, we decided to explore our own massive backyard with Road to 150, a 150-day #roadtrip across #Canada, witnessing the beauty and diversity of this country and sharing our experiences through video, pictures, social media and articles. Since then, we’ve helped thousands of Canadians and travellers worldwide make the most of every Canadian experience.
Just watched your vid on the Cyprus Hills, had to watch this next. Lived in Medicine Hat from ‘67- ‘71. Great place to be a kid. Walking from Crestwood up on Dunlop Hill over the 7 Persons Creek all the way downtown to the Assiniboine Hotel for a 10 cent bottle of Coca Cola, skating up same creek past Kin Coulee to the trans Canada highway before turning around and skating back, swimming at the Rotary Pool. Don’t know how many times I walked up and down those streets downtown, surprisingly after 50 years I can still remember the landmarks in your vid. Man I had a great childhood. Thanks for the memories.
haha that's awesome! We live up in Calgary but this was our first visit. People that live there seem to love it!
@@MustDoCanada you covered the pottery factory but I remember going to a glassworks there and was able to watch them blowing glass vases, bowls etc. It was cool to see and quite a tourist draw in 67.
Finally something Alberta that's not along the Rocky mountains 😅 I love visit the small city vibe of Medicine Hat.
haha yes, and Cypress Hills Next. Then Edmonton. No mountains for a while :)
My son visits when he is posted to suffield. He has had 5 tours if 6 months and loves the country
Thank you for sharing x
Very cool! I've actually helped with some training scenarios in Suffield :)
I can barely wait for it to be safe to travel again so I can finally meet you guys and exchange travel stories and experiences. Have an awesome weekend and thank you for always allowing me to be a part of your trips virtually.
Yes! Definitely let us know :)
Really enjoyed the Medicine Hat video. Thank you!
Loved this video!!!! Thanks for showing us all the fun places to visit and things to do!!
Welcome to the Hat!
Welcome to Medicine Hat. I love it here. I have lived here for 23 years now and have no plans to move. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
Yup maple walnut and espresso ice cream is my favorite too...yum

The is lot to explore in BC and can you show the world the Canadian food , today video is very nice
2th,,, I´ll visit Medicine Hat in the past... amazing place.
but yeah i love whole Canada... keep up the good work guys...
Lived in Alberta 37 years so it took us long enough hah
eh im kinda proud of you guys, good job going everywhere, if you haven't been to dinosaur provincial park you gotta check it out in Drumheller
Thanks Charley. We've been to Drumheller many times. It's in our main Alberta video, but we've actually never been to Dinosaur Provincial Park
Thanks for making such a great video of our city! Beautiful Couple visiting Beautiful Places!
Our pleasure!
I'm in the same boat, always drove past Medicine Hat on my way to BC, but finally decided to stop for an afternoon last year and was pleasantly surprised. :)
By the way, if you two ever decide to come to Manitoba again, I strongly recommend Northern Manitoba, particularly around Flin Flon and Thompson. Pisew Falls is awesome, as is Paint Lake, both near Thompson, and Clearwater Provincial Park is honestly one of the most beautiful places I've been in Canada (near The Pas). Highly highly recommend!
That sounds super cool. We've pretty much only been to Winnipeg and Churchill, and Riding Mountain, so tons more to explore. And I bet it's largely off-the-beaten-track right?
@@MustDoCanada Somewhat yeah, but still accessible! If you need a guide, bug me lol The turquoise water at Clearwater Park looks amazing!
This is going to be on my to do list in August, looks very interesting, thanks for the awesome video guys
Very cool! Hope you have a lot of fun! (Another cool place nearby is Red Rock Coulee)
Love hearing about First Nations heritage and culture in Alberta. Also now I'm dying for a beer. Great video as always! Thanks for sharing.
hahah we brought back 24 with us
Thanks for another Great Video!👍❤️🇩🇪
keep up the good work guys, id love a little more detail on the actual quality of each thing like not just good sandwich but comparatively its more smokey or spicy or anything interesting about it. love your videos tho you guys are adorable
haha that's true. I think we're still a bit shy when it comes to food as we really don't know how to explain it. We always think people find the food part boring but maybe thats not true at all
Welcome to the Gas City, Medicine Hat. Wish I got to meet you, I am living in the Hat. :)
Great video guys. There looks like there is so much to do in Alberta and I bet you haven’t stopped yet. How do you not gain weight? Must be all the walking. Cheers!!!
haha yes, I think all the walking and what not. But also, when we're home, we eat lean and try to exercise as much as we can
These are awesome videos, keep up the good work!
Thanks!
Well..not sure how or why this popped up...but you just got a new sub... I live 5 min away from that thing 😁
haha awesome! Glad you found us.
Belle vidéo continue
Welcome to the hat guys! Hope you enjoyed the visit!
Thanks, that's where you're from?
@@MustDoCanada actually I was raised in that tiny town of plaster rock nb where you played pond hockey but I’ve lived in Medicine Hat for almost 10 years since moving to Alberta. I also lived in Fort Mac during the fires also! I remember you mentioned your uncle still has PTSD from it. Hopefully we can contain these fires in BC as well. Stay safe you guys! Next time your around I would love an autograph if at all possible! Lol cheers 🍻
@@CoryParish85 oh right! haha yes indeed. The fire are crazy eh? Hard to believe we'll have any forest left soon
@@MustDoCanada Yes, fires have been out of control the past few summers. Seems like this Global warming thing is taking a toll for sure.
thanks
Wow so beautiful love ur video amazing ave fun.
Nice video! We'll be moving to MH on November. How's the community/people/environment there? Is it safe for solo female travelers?
