Amboy wasn’t much 50 years ago before interstate 40 cut it off. My cousin owned the store and gas station back in the 60’s and it was tough for he and his wife to eek out a living and raise two little kids in the middle of nowhere. They sold in 70. I think the store and gas station does better now with the tourists than it ever did when 66 was the highway. I pass through there several times a year and there always seems to be people milling around.
A lot of the tourists today are from Europe. They tend to hit only the most promoted locations along the Route. Such as Amboy. There isn't much along 66 in California, just a lot of desert and sun-bleached businesses. IMO the best place to see is along 66 from Amarillo, TX west to Oatman, AZ. My last trip was in 2010 and I ran into Germans, English, Swedish and Italian all along the way. They were nice enough, spoke English and all had detailed trip plans from their home country. I've been up and down the road 6 times since 1976 so I was able to give some pointers a bit of history. I told them to go off the main travel places and see the off-road stops.
It is still considered an active volcano and is one of a string of volcanoes from near Bakersfield ca. Into Arizona. It's considered active because of a lava pool not too far underneath it. All the cones in the string are active.
Those little deserted shacks should house homeless people. The Govt. could prep them very cheaply, I'm sure. Of course, the homeless peeps would have to be willing to live there. At least it would be a roof over their heads, and not dangerous neighborhood!
Hey, Rav, maybe take a bucket and squeegee along next time? The bird doo on the windshield looks tacky. After you shave, set that stuff in your trunk, it'll be there when needed.
Amazing wit with historical background........close to a bucket of hair..........
What’s up, Karen are you triggered?
Nice video.
Thank you!

Yeah, I produced and directed a music video there and the day permit is $3500 a month!

Elementary Skull is a great name for a metal band
Enjoyed the video. Does anyone have a link to that music video? The link is to the original artist. I would like the link to the video.
It’s on my page at the top, Marc

No to my knowledge William this volcano has long been dead silent
No, it’s not active.... Hawaii has the most active Volcano in the US, next would be Yellowstone but that’s all underground
Nice work here chief.
Even has a piano in the lobby! Who plays that, the ghosts? And what's the carousel horse doing there? Weird.
Nice video, keep up the great work :)
Cryptic Results hey thank you so much!!
