I thank you for sharing this experience. Just for information purposes, in 2017, I lost a friend, and his wife, on this hike. They were avid campers, and I thought knowledgeable hikers. Amboy was 1 of several planned hikes, for this couple, over the upcoming week. Why they got started so late in the day, with the temps hitting over 110, I'll never understand. They sadly succumbed to the heat. Glad you were treated to such a stellar (and safe) experience
Thanks for watching... I'm sorry to hear about your friends. The temperature in the desert is nothing to be taken lightly. I knew it was a concerned and thought I had enough water. Turns out that I had JUST enough. I will definitely bring even more next time I venture off to such a place. I definitely think it is better to come here in the winter.
Hey, unless you want to torture yourself, i would wait until it cools down. It would be a much more enjoyable hike. If you do go now, make sure you have more than enough water. I burned through all my water, but then again...i was out there for about 6 hours. Its an awesome hike!
I did the hike in April of 2023. The temperature was fine, but it was very windy. The person I went with insisted upon hiking around the rim, and, of course, I have a fear of heights. With the wind, every step was an adventure. I’m glad I did it now, but not so much at the time.
@thePlanetraveler. com I think i’m going to live vicariously through your travel adventures as a subscriber. I appreciate you and the information you are bringing online through your adventures...that’s way cool bruh👍🏾💯🧐
Great vid, just a note though Please, PLEASE, PLEEASE STOP STACKING ROCKS!!! When you stack rocks it reduces the hiding spots for the critters who live there. If you come across stacked rocks UNSTACK THEM! The local critters thank you! 😊
Yeah, you are the second person to comment about rock stacking. I had no idea I would set anybody off by doing that. Duly noted. Thanks for watching btw.
