He played it so well. Ennis had been through so much and traumatized about what would happen to him if anyone found out. Every thing he says in the movie his face has this tightness and his body language is so held back its fucking great.
@@bohlalenchabeleng1370 It's closer to truth than you'd know. Lots of closeted gay men who are fearful of anyone finding out, are aggressive. Or generally uphold this "tough guy image" with everything they can muster. They try to "fix themselves" by force. And it makes you pretty goddamn pissed in the long run, I'd imagine. There's been many secretly gay athletes in tough contact sports. Boxing, MMA, rugby, NFL, ice hockey. I don't think they chose those paths by accident, but because of their deep self-hatred, and willingnes to "fix themselves". Why else go voluntarily into such places, where chances of getting accepted are slim. Some never come out, and continue to be violent a-holes their entire life. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Vladimir Putin was secretly gay. Some gay people have enilisted into military, and gone to wars. Maybe to prove their manhood. For example Leonard Matlovich. And there is historical strong evidence that Lawrence of Arabia was a closeted homosexual, in a time where it was an absolute taboo.
It's absolutely maddening. I don't know exactly when this interview was done, but the thought that Heath would be dead a mere 2-3 years later is absolutely haunting.
Hollywood wouldn't recognize talent if it fell on top of them. It was an amazing film, and you had to have been dead to walk out of the theater not feeling like your guts were ripped out. An amazing tragedy, performed so expertly.
@@Luca-VA no such thing as being "slightly" addicted to anything, you either are or you aren't. Heath had an addiction to pain and sleep medications, and also alcohol at times. He was being prescribed doses of medication way too severe and that are literally addictive. It was medical negligence that killed him
@Paladin Ely which part of what I said made you think I had an "addiction fantasy" or that I was blaming Heath for anything?? Its very well documented that he suffered from addiction and like the end of my last comment said, it wasn't his fault.
Thank you for uploading this! I watched the movie when it came out and thought it was one of the most beautiful and heart wrenching love stories I'd ever seen on film... and I just rewatched it again tonight after seeing "The power of the dog" because the themes are so similar. Just adore what Heath and Jake were able to convey on screen and the time they took to allow it to develop as well. Miss you Heath - from all of Australia.
He really was an amazing actor, there is this film called "Candy" I saw years ago, he amazed me in that film. If you want to see more about him, I strongly recommend that movie.
Indeed, Heath instilled such a brilliantly emotionally inert character, Jake has nearly nothing to interact with. I believe that's why Jake is considered such a premiere actor. I believe Jake carried the film. Very different performances but both fantastic in their own ways.
I watched the humpback movie and thought it went deep, really deep into the dark recesses of two human beings, poking into uncertain territory, i'm sure some people might think it smells to high heaven, but it did have the ability to release some pent up tensions. A movie like this hurt the characters in places where pain can be excruciating, but you still must push through, keep driving hard.

heath literally embodied the character he played
He was so aggressive though.
@@bohlalenchabeleng1370 because he was so repressed. Which obviously doesn’t excuse the aggression though

I still feel like he's alive
legends never die
@Lily B i felt that
me too he was and is still my favorite serious male actor. I feel like Jake has done so many intense movies in honor of him.
Me too:( I can’t believe he’s gone he’s one of my favorite actors ever. His death is so so saddening and I could cry now just typing this 💔
oh stop it
Heath Ledger deserved an Oscar for his brilliant performance as Ennis in Brokeback Mountain. What an amazing actor!! He is still very much missed.
I cried so hard when Heath passed away...I still don't think I'm over it. Such a huge talent. So missed. RIP, Heath.
Me too man very very sad still feels surreal all those years later
This guy is an exceptional interviewer
One of the most attractive and honest men ever existed, and his childlike charm is almost impossible to resist!

As a recovering addict, he had demons that no one will understand unless you're an addict. My heart bleeds for him and his family.
He wasn't addicted he died from an overdose of his sleeping pills cause he couldn't go to sleep I hope that makes sense
He had an accidental lethal concoction of prescribed medications. He wasn’t an addict. Just had a lot of pent up energy hence the mannerisms.
@@makaylagray2553 I think he was addicted to drugs, just only slightly idk
