I’ve found that card paper works for covering large curved holes as it’s more stable. After that, you can use tape over it to keep it in place.

Fun fact, the design of the Tomy (technically Plarail) mail van is a repaint of a pre-existing mail van from the JNR which is why it's design is inaccurately ass.

As a Thomas Wooden Railway fan, I had to buy some unpainted vans from Orbrium both as a cost-cutting measure (since the official Thomas Wooden Railway ones are discontinued, rare, and expensive) and to bring out my customization skills. I based two smaller ones on the Trackmaster models (one of them was green and based on the Speed Post one from a 3-car pack, and the other was orange with the modern mail logo), and one bigger one on the 1996 Thomas Wooden Railway model.

1:02 Instead of chainging wheels, maybe change the chassis with a TOMY one if you want
like TOMY did with the brakevan and flatbeds (etc), they made the wheels smaller to match the sizes

All you needed to do is use paper or cardboard then I'll look accurate
I would do a step further and replace the wheels with bogies therefore it can maybe bring the height down.
It's just that I don't know how to anyway great work

I'm gonna say this the only reason the trackmaster ones are brown is because they're based off of the book illustrations and most likely based off of the utility vans in their brown color instead of in the colors of the male Van also there's that version where it can open and close so that one's pretty cool
