Wondering if I need a transit visa if I have to land at terminal B and take off at terminal #6 ... Any help will be highly appreciated :)
@Diby - That's something I haven't done so I am unsure. It depends on if you have to claim your baggage and recheck it. But if your bags are transferred by the airline from one flight to the next, I would think since you're not leaving the airport, just connecting you might be able to use the connecting tunnels. You should ask your airline, they should know the proper answer. Wish I could have been more helpful. Thank you for watching my videos.
Forget about it there's no transit without visa in the US. If you don't have the proper paperwork in place you won't be allowed to board from Europe in the first place.

I am going to have a 1hr 55min layover in LAX going to EWR from an international flight (SIA). Im actually wondering whether i'll have enough time for my connection to terminal 6 with alaska airline since i just realize that we have to go through baggage claim and custom in LAX before the connecting flight 😑 as for the baggage will i have to bring it to terminal 6 to get it check in or is there a transfer desk to put the bags after the custom? I am using one itinerary ticket for my whole flight so i assume that the baggage already have a tag for the final destination? Will i still have to go through security too? If yes, how long will it take to go through the security? I am very nervous and hoping that i can make the connection. Any info will be appreciated. TIA
@TheLaniemoetz - If your connection is on the same ticket i.e. same airline alliance you can probably recheck your bags right after immigrations/customs. I believe Alaska is OneWorld and SIA (Singapore??) is Star Alliance. Since you have a one itinerary ticket you should be able to recheck your bags. Many of the international airlines have interline agreements with major US airlines. LAX is, fortunately set up to handle a large volume of international travelers so the baggage claim and customs/immigrations is usually moving pretty good. 1H55M should be enough, even having to go through TSA again. Global Entry/TSA PreCheck helps to expedite TSA security check. I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes when your trip is complete. Best of LUCK.
If you're ticketed all the way to EWR and already have your boarding pass you can at least enter back into Terminal 4 after exiting TBIT and use the connecting passages to walk in the air conditioning. At least that should be a little more comfortable.
@@FlyingCaveman1 thank you for the quick response. Yes i will be using singapore Airline and will transfer to alaska airline during my layover in LAX towards EWR. i have a connecting flight from lax to jfk with 2hrs 24mins time only to transfer airplane. is this enough? will i go through immigration and security again? please help
You should have enough time. If you are arriving on an international flight you will have to go through immigrations and TSA again. If domestic flights and you are in T4 through T8 you can simply use the connecting tunnels. Unfortunately, T1 through T3 do not connect and you would have to clear TSA again. I hope this helps.
I'm flying from Manila(thru PAL) to LAX. I believe i will be from LAX TBIT to Terminal 7 for the domestic transfers. Do you think 2.5hrs layover is enough to get thru all the process i need? The most concerning part for me is the check-in baggage since i am traveling with 2 kids. I wonder if i need to carry my luggage from TBIT to Terminal 7.
@cre8tures plays - 2.5 hours should be enough. After getting your bags and clearing customs you can immediately recheck your bags in the international area. Just go to the airline counter your flying after PAL Then you can re-enter at Terminal 4, clear TSA and then from T4 to T7 using the tunnels and staying inside in the air conditioning. Hope this helps.
hey thanks for the video. I am flying from Toronto and will have a layover in LAX, terminal 6 to terminal B for Japan. I assume I can skip all that US customs and securities again but I just need to pick up my checked luggage and check it in again?
@dracolnyte -- I believe so, I don't know what is involved with a flight from Canada. But from T6 to Terminal B you can use the walkways without TSA. If you have to leave the secure area to recheck your bag, you can still re-enter through TSA after you recheck your bags and walk in the air conditioning vs walking outside. I hope this is helpful and let me know how the Customs piece works for an arrival from Canada so next time someone asks me this question I will have a definitive answer. Safe Travels.
@dracolnyte - wondering if you could share your experience re: the customs piece. Did you have to re-check your luggage? I will be flying from Toronto to Taiwan, having a layover in LAX, and have to travel from terminal 6 to terminal B just as you did. @flyingcaveman1 - thank you for the video!
@@dracolnyte from some quick google search - people are suggesting that if the two flights are of the same company, you might not need to re-check luggage; otherwise you might have to. Please if you dont mind sharing ur experience next month! i will be flying in Nov. have a safe trip!
I am flying to LAX from SFO before flying out of LAX to Tokyo so do I need to go through security again? My flight to LAX is United and it will be in Terminal 7, then I will have to head to Terminal B for Japan Airlines to check in my baggage again.
You can go from T7 to B terminal without going through TSA again. HOWEVER, if you have to check your bags in at the Japan Airlines counter, that is outside of security and you will have to clear TSA again. Since United is Star Alliance and JAL is OneWorld you most likely can't interline your luggage. Sry. I would call United and ask if they are able to check your bags all the way to NRT via JAL (It's worth asking). JAL operates from SFO to NRT (JL57)at about same time as LAX to NRT(JL61). Was there a price difference big enough to make it worth traveling through LAX?
@@geoffreykoo2122 They have flights at similar times for HND from SFO also. Transferring in LAX isn't that bad, but you will need to re-clear TSA if you have to claim your bags from United and check in again with JAL. Hello! Just wondering how much time would it take for me to walk from terminal 4 to international gates( terminal B). Will be flying American from Atlanta and layover at LAX for 3 hours and LAX-Manila via Philippine Airlines. Just anxious of our connecting flight.
@elsakissell5066 - 3 hours is plenty of time, even if you have to claim your bags and check in with Philippine Airlines. It's a quick 10-15 min walk from T4 to Terminal B if you do have to check it with Philippine Airlines. If you bags are being transferred to Philippine Airlines from American Airlines it's even easier and you can use the connector as shown in this video and avoid having to go through TSA again. I don't know if American & Philippine airlines have a baggage agreement. Do you have separate tickets? One from American AIrlines and a separate ticket from Philippine Airlines? or is it all one ticket for both flights?
@FlyingCaveman1 Just one ticket just different planes. Booked it through 3rd party booking site but I received an email from American Airlines confirming our trip to Manila.
@elsakissll5066 - Your baggage should transfer from AA to Philippine Airlines automatically, so you should be able to go from T4 via the connector without leaving and accomplishing TSA. Should be simple. Thank you for watching my video, I'm glad I could assist.
@elsakissell5066 Hi there, were your checked bags automatically transferred to Philippine Airlines or did end up having to claim and check in with TSA again. Many thanks!

@Christof44 - I walked out of TBIT on ground level and directly into T3 on my last trip. I'm reading news articles now that ALL terminals are connected and you can transit without doing TSA again. If entering USA from foreign you will have to clear immigrations (not sure where that would be if entering at T3).
@@FlyingCaveman1 I have flight in 8 days from Amsterdam to LAX then next fly to Honolulu.. Its my first flight to US and im confused and scared how to move on airport.. I fly with only hand luggage so after immigration i can go to customs then connector to next terminal?
@Christof44 - LAX international arrival should be a breeze with no checked bags. You'll process immigrations, bypass baggage claim since you only have hand luggage (customs should be a breeze, you'll be ahead of everyone else who has checked bags) and then to connection. I do think you'll have to clear TSA again with an international arrival, but I might be wrong now that all terminals are connected. I'd appreciate if you'll let me know the situation after you travel if you have time. My next trip in December is actually Dubai to LAX but I am going to private jet terminal for my connection. @@FlyingCaveman1 Nobody know on Airport where's new conector between TB and T3 then i left terminal after immugration and walked on outside few min to get T3 ..On T3 security check then gate
@Linda Parker - Inter-terminal connections between terminals 1, 2, and 3, and between them and the other terminals, require passengers to exit security, then walk or use a shuttle-bus to get to the other terminal, then re-clear security.
@@FlyingCaveman1 thanks. I was hoping that info was not true anymore so that’s why I asked you. Not looking forward to standing in long line to do security again in TBIT.
TSA PreCheck or Global Entry makes it much quicker/easier. I don't know if you have either of those. I travel globally a lot so I have Global Entry (Which also is TSA PreCheck in USA domestic flights)
@saravaneshs465 - Yes, TBIT is connected via this to T4, T5, T6, T7 & T8. I didn't show T5 in this video because I actually walked under T5 to get to T4 where you then turn left just before security to go to TBIT and avoid doing TSA again. Thank you for watching.
@Christof44 - thank you for the update. Another blogger One Mile At a Time onemileatatime.com/news/lax-terminals-connected-airside/ has a great article on this.
Sir, this terminal is known as the “Tom Bradley International ”.... and NOT the Tom Brady terminal. The walk from the furthest westside terminal, #8, used by United Airlines takes about 20-25 minutes, depending on the time of day. Passengers departing domestic flights - who have onward international flights from terminals #8-7 United, #6 Alaska, Air Canada, Horizon, #5 American, Air Canada, Jet Blue, Spirit, and #4 American Airlines can utilize this passageway without having to exit air-side, thus no need to go thur TSA again. I know Tom Brady came out of retirement to play again, however - he did not move to Los Angeles, and have an airport terminal named after him!!!
@BigDukeX, You are absolutely correct I must have had football on my brain when I did the voiceover. And I did it twice. My apologies. Other than my misidentification of the Tom Bradley International Terminal, I hope the video was helpful. Thank you for watching.
@TomStick91 - I think it has to do with earthquake protocols. In the event of an earthquake, which are prone to occur in California, a lot of the automation shuts down. Therefore there are stairs next to all of the escalators/elevators if needed during earthquake events. I'm just guessing, but I'm pretty sure that is the purpose.
Yes, it is the same. You have to kind of search for the downstairs access to the elevator. I had already assumed the escalator would work and when it didn’t I simply took the stairs instead of backtracking to the elevator
Yes, I misspoke throughout the video by calling it Tom Brady. I must have had football on my mind that day. I didn't realize until I had already posted the video.
No intention of misleading. The opening segment shows from TBT Through T4 to T8. T1/T2/T3 are not connected via any sort of walkway. I hope they are in the future.
Please help! Can I walk from T1 to T7 and how long it takes? I'll be flying from Den @5am to LAX @ 7.15a by Southwest and then depart by United airline at 10.50 am to Thailand. Will i have enough time to get to T7 and have 3 hours to spare? I'll have checked bags.
@Phimsuda - it’s a 30+ minute walk and if you’re dragging luggage that will be quite a long way to go with luggage. I’d recommend taking the terminal connection bus that is in front of T1 to T7. It picks up every 10 mins so don’t worry if it’s driving away as you approach the bus stop, another bus will come along in 10 minutes, usually about every 7 mins. Hopefully Southwest can check your bags to your United international flight. If you have to pick up your bags at T1, again proceed to bus once you’ve got your bags. You should have more than enough time to make your connection. Not very many international flights from T7 (I don’t think) so TSA should go pretty quickly. If anyone else has helpful comments please add on the this reply. Hope to make your travel experience as safe and stress free as possible. Thank you for viewing my video.

@@FlyingCaveman1 You're welcome.
I believe that my baggage will have the final destination tag to EWR but I'm just worried regarding claiming the bags in LAX. Hopefully i have enough time for the connection flight.
Wishing that i dont have to go through security again after going though custom cause that will be an extra time😁
i have a connecting flight from lax to jfk with 2hrs 24mins time only to transfer airplane. is this enough? will i go through immigration and security again?
@@raymondlau18 hey I didn't go yet, next month!

@@FlyingCaveman1 I'm flying to HND
@@geoffreykoo2122 They have flights at similar times for HND from SFO also. Transferring in LAX isn't that bad, but you will need to re-clear TSA if you have to claim your bags from United and check in again with JAL. Just give yourself a little extra time so you're not rushed for time. Enjoy Japan, I lived there for 13 years, loved it.

@TravelwithJeanna Luckily I don't have to claimed my checked luggage ,American Airlines automatically transferred it to Philippine Airlines.
hi i have a flight arriving on alaskan at 12:30 pm terminal 6. my fight to HNL is at 2:59 pm terminal 3. does anyone know if i have enough time to make it ? i’ll have carry on with me…. help!
You’ll have to exit security and go through TSA again at T3. You should have enough time. Are you TSA precheck?
So am I able to walk from terminal 5 to terminal 6? I have a 3 hour layover.
Yes, without leaving security.
which floor on TBIT is connector with T3 ? when i will return from T3 to TBIT then i have to go trought immigration on T3 or this is on TBIT??
Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@FlyingCaveman1 Yeah..I will let you know :)
@@FlyingCaveman1 Nobody know on Airport where's new conector between TB and T3 then i left terminal after immugration and walked on outside few min to get T3 ..On T3 security check then gate
Is there a way to get to the international terminal from T2 or T3 without going outside and going through security again?
Thank you. We do have precheck. I appreciate your help
Possible to get taxi at terminal 3 los angeles
Yes, i've flown into T3 and there were taxis available outside of baggage claim.

Would the same work for Terminal 5 to TBIT ?
@saravaneshs465 - Yes, TBIT is connected via this to T4, T5, T6, T7 & T8. I didn't show T5 in this video because I actually walked under T5 to get to T4 where you then turn left just before security to go to TBIT and avoid doing TSA again. Thank you for watching.

@@FlyingCaveman1TBIT is now connected with all terminals
4:52 Why is one side a staircase and the otherside an escalator? That seems weird to me.
@@FlyingCaveman1 Thank you for the reply! Also: At 4:26 - Do you know if the first elevator is the the same one at 5:15 that takes you up to T4?
Yes, it is the same. You have to kind of search for the downstairs access to the elevator. I had already assumed the escalator would work and when it didn’t I simply took the stairs instead of backtracking to the elevator
Tom Bradley*
Yes, I misspoke throughout the video by calling it Tom Brady. I must have had football on my mind that day. I didn't realize until I had already posted the video.
Misleading video. I thought you were walking from TBT to Terminal 1
