Greetings from Turkey I am happy to follow you
Thank you friend.
You guys are the best. What an awesome video.
Cool vid mate, any vids coming on reading the beach. It always looks the same everywhere lol
Haya unsure of u will get this or not. ..
I've picked myself up a ultegra c14.xtc.... and th surf laeder 425bx
What a unreliable combo unsure if it was just the right place right time but ...got my PB snapper 5.82... and handled it handled nicely 👌
Beuty mate, truely a great bit of kit. Very reliable and easy on the eye. I hope you continue to do well! Cheers for the feedback.
Nice work boys! fuck, gone are those days where i got rolled bowled and arseholed. High tide all day long.
Cool video. Those fancy smooth shimano reels you keep talking about here are probably smooth as butter but are they really built for getting wet with saltwater? I suggest fully sealed Van Staal VSB. I'm guessing you have to service your shimano reels here every time you fish them standing in the surf? My Van Staal has been used while under saltwater for 2 years and is still smooth with zero services yet.
Great video. I hope to drive down from central Auckland oneday with my boys. Low tide really works! Wow, thank you. I really appreciate how you look out for each other.
Thanks for the feedback mate, appreciate it. Cheers
Awesome vid boys really inspiring never fished there but is on my to do list , keep them coming chad subbed chur
I just love your video
Shot bro, put a bit more effort in to this one. Cheers for the feedback, appreciate it
Nice work mate
Thanks Chris, appreciate the feedback bro. The double up of waves at the start catching sammy out was an eye opener eh.
Yeah also agree 100% on what you said about being safe. The power of those sideways pulls/rips has to be felt to be believed sometimes :-o
My kids were born here. It's awesome.
Excellent stuff :)
Shot boys, mean skills, good code.
Chur bro, thanks for the feedback, awesome
cha boys what are them rod holders you using?
Good stuff, one of you guys was talking about a light trace ? What do you use for your terminal tackle ? Thanks.

Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Sincere Gerald you are welcome xD
Nice vid I’m reasonably new to surf casting on average what size main line do you use? Also do you use braid or nylon, in mmm using 65 lb braid but think it’s bit heavy as can’t seem to cast that far, I’m down in marlbourough cheers
Good question mate. Fishing is a sport with many solutions and options/preferences.... there is no right or wrong, just opinions. What is successful for us is mono. Braid has no stretch which is important when surfcasting. Its difficult to hold a sinker with braid in swell. I use anything from 4-6kg mono, so .25mm to .30 line diameter. I would recommend to anyone starting out, go to 8kg mono, in suffix advance and gradually work your way down. I fish with tapered shock leader, which i buy from allyexpres for half the price here in NZ. I hope this helps, please feel free to ask any questions, always happy to help. Thanks.
HARDCORE OUTDOORS NZ hi there helps heaps 4 to 6 kg man that’s light I would of thought that would break off real easy hence why I went with braid but as you said it does not stretch so if I stuff up my cast it just breaks off and sinker goes flying I did figure out my bail arm kept flipping down hence the break offs but sorted that now, how do you attach the leader do you use the fg knot? Cheers and merry Christmas
@@jasegazzard3743 braid should never break during casting unless you are pulling bacd wind knotts. But by the sound of it, you need to inspire you pull your bail arm right around into the catch position so it doesn't flick over during the casts from you handle turning and causing it to collapse over. Also, if i was running braid, I would use a mono leader and most likely use an FG to attach. However with the way I fish running mono to mono mainline to leader, and tapered leaders, i find a back to back uni knot is really strong and faultless. You would be surprised how strong 8kg mono is, even lines like suffix supreme boost incredible strength. I wouldn't reinvent the wheel, id be inclined to stick with what is working for you, but just hone a few things, like the shock leader, rigs and working on your casting. Once you have a good casting action, got your head around long cast rigs and give what you are doing a fair go, then assess weather you like a braid mainline, or perhaps weather 8kg mono is worth investing in. In many aspects of fishing direct contact though the use of braid is beneficial, but i believe when it comes to surfcasting, stretch is an important element. Thanks heaps. Cheers
HARDCORE OUTDOORS NZ how far are you casting out into the surf? Also how long are ya rods 15 ft? Cheers
@@jasegazzard3743 The shimano surf leader rod is 14 foot mate. I never like to put distances or numbers up as its often just a guess which most people well over cook. If you can cast a bait a good 80m you are in the money anywhere in NZ.
what drone were you using for the overhead shots?....hoping to get up for a scout session over xmas...cheers
Phantom 3 Professional. On this day there was about 40km/hr of wind and it handled it well.
Haya I'm interested in gettin a surf laeder 425bx or a bx425bxi what's the difference between them both wich would you prefer
How did you get on mate
Wat foot is your rod and wat pound line are u using and how far are u Roughly getting it out to
The rods are 14 foot and we use 4-6kg mainline, tapered leaders and pulley rigs. I would say we are better than average casters, how far exactly that is, I'm not sure. Cheers
HARDCORE OUTDOORS NZ wat pound line did u use fish the taranaki open surfcasting challenge
@@jdfishingnz3034 To be completely honest mate, we didn't know fully what we were in for, we had a plan and the weather killed it, so we for forced to fish foreign ground to us...... than meant we were stuck with 8-12 lb set ups which was always going to end in tears. Next year we will be back to turn things around, and I will use 25-30lb off the bouldery shit and surfcast the clean beaches with 8lb in good weather and 16lb if the weed and shit is around. We will also be allot better prepared with a tonne of burly to hold the fish into those channels in the small hours of the night. Chur
What type of trigger is that and does it work well?
Still waiting for part two 😂
😂 will drop soon, 🤞
Why the wrap around your rod?
The wrap is shrink wrap, 30mm is what you need. Or use wynn tape bro
Try fishing gisborne
Often fish that coast mate, good fishing and always take home a feed. Great part of the coast!
