This song has been a lovely accompaniment throughout my life since Don released it in 1971-72. I was so happy that Don had Home Free join him for this version.

Don is 78 and has been singing this song for over 50 years. He sounds great and the guys are just perfect. Just wish you hadn't spoken over it.

This is so beautiful. Tim Foust in an interview on the website Everything Nash was quoted as calling this perhaps the most perfect song ever written. This is the second time that Don has invited the boys to join him on re-releases of iconic songs. If you haven't heard their collaboration on the 50th anniversary version of American Pie, run don't walk over there. It is fabulous. And the also back him on the title track to his new album, American Boys. There's an audio-only video on Don's channel. It's a bop.

It was a stroke of genius to use just the guitar without additional percussion. Great reaction.

When they did American Pie, they had to record separately because of Covid, so being able to together WITH Don was a real treat. He also asked them to sing harmonies on the title track of his new album - American Boys - it is a fun song - go listen to it. I an hoping that he will release a video when the album is released on the 17th (18th?).

The artist is Vincent Van Gogh. There was a title saying Voice Play instead of Home Free in your video.
This is Home Free's second performance with Don McLean. During Covid, they recorded the fiftieth anniversary of American Pie with Don McLean. It was during Covid so they recorded the song remotely. The profits from the song were given to help support independent music venues that were struggling financially or were closed during the pandemic.

Been missing you. Lovely reaction. Yes, Don's voice is a marvel, I think this rendition is even better than the original, his mature voice beings an even more emotional quality to the lyrics. His collaborations with Home Free had to be divinely inspired.

The first collab with Don and Home Free was American Pie. Don personally chose Home Free to be the ones to do the 50th Anniversary "remake". Don also chose Home Free to be the ones to sing at the placement of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They blend so well together.... and enjoy... because Austin (the high tenor) is leaving the group very soon...

Truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet, not overwhelming background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different.
A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. I lived not far from his birthplace for a while. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻......

Don invited the guys to back him up on the title song for his latest album American Boys. That sound you were trying to figure out was Tim Foust on the bass line 😊

This was really nice, I’m glad they didn’t get too fancy with the over the top harmonies and let MacLean’s voice and lyrics take center stage 👍🏻

Such a beautiful song about the hard life of Vincent Van Gogh.
Nate hate to break it to you but your title during the song said Voiceplay ft Don McLean 😮

I love your comment about the lyrics. Don McLean is a true poet. In my opinion, there isn't one wasted word in this entire song.

Don McLean's ode to Vincent Van Gogh still sounds fantastic. Home Free are the perfect collaborators, their harmonies are incomparable, they always respect the original and ensure the guest has the spotlight. If you haven't seen their previous collaboration with him of "American Pie", or the ones with Kenny Rogers, Alabama, the Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood or Texas Hill, you're missing real treats.f

You have mislabeled Home Free as Voiceplay within your video.

  • @АлександраБакульманова-у8п

    Home Free. Not Voiceplay!
