  • UNPLUG YOUR BATTERY FIRST! My phone was fine, But safety first. Unplug the battery first thing before unplugging anything else. The battery should be the last thing reconnected as well.

This video will show you the process for replacing an iPhone 6s screen. There are a few differences between the iPhone 6 and 6s screens. The screens are not interchangeable. None of the parts are. There is also a bit of adhesive around the screen of this phone that holds it onto the body. Let me know if you have any questions!

@@JerryRigEverything I tried fixing my phone, but it semi-works. The LCD is a little dim and I can't see anything on the screen, but it makes this DEN-den-dun-dun-den sound when I plug it in to charger. Additionally, it makes that charging port sound (when you insert iPhone into charger it makes a 'houng' sound). So what's wrong with it. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. Not a phone expert.

Part of my post: "I'm guessing that goes around what may be an EMI shield. With the unit I did, that strap appeared to keep that shield can up and as close to the earpiece assembly as possible. If not positioned exactly as it was found, it causes a spot of discoloration near the top of the screen in the finished product."

Thank you so much! I replaced the battery recently and, soon afterward, my screen started having a couple of vertical lines that wouldn't disappear, and then one more drop and the screen was filled with lines and unresponsive. I have just finished using your video to replace the screen, and while it was certainly more tedious than the battery replacement, it worked and the phone is recharging and with a fresh screen image. Thanks again!

Just fixed mine successfully. You need good eyes and a clean work space. A head torch also helped me. I didn't unplug the battery because I read the comments AFTER doing the job but it didn't cause me any issues. The screen I bought was £14.92p from eBay. Thanks for the clear, easy to follow video JerryRigEverything!

The Phillips screwdrivers that come in the eBay screens are OK if you don't allow them to slip. Once they start slipping, you're screwed. Get some quality hardened steel tipped Phillips screwdrivers and you won't have that problem. Once the cheapo screwdrivers start slipping you can see that soft metal was used to make it and hence, they won't grab the screws. You must hold firm pressure and start slowly when loosening and same in reverse when putting back together. Granted not everyone has the dexterity to do this fine work. If you're not distracted, you should be OK. Just no slipping/gouging allowed, and put a couple white sheets of paper down with a few pieces of scotch tape taped down sticky side up to deposit screws in their order of removal. Any tape will do. Just tape it down at edges with sticky side up. Sketch out metal covers with pen or pencil around the tape if need be to help with that. Biggest thing is having quality tools. Makes a big difference. Also, a couple pairs of tweezers...sharp pointed skinny ones, a single edge razor blade, magnifying glass, flashlight, close up glasses like walmart sells, guitar pick, suction cup. Most of these items come with the eBay screens but it never hurts to have a little more. Lastly...buy and use a good case like an otter box so you don't have to go through this every two months!!!!! Sick and tired of seeing all these people without any protection!!!

  • @dpzeee

Success! Thanks. I had no shorting problems, but suggest you disconnect the battery anyway, because - why not? Actually, you should probably change the battery anyway while you're inside the phone. Someone below said to avoid using metal tweezers and I agree. You can do everything with the plastic tools.

Great video. Although I had to watch a couple other videos to figure out how to assemble a few parts more rightly, this was my lead video. After I was done with the assemblage, the phone turned on but the screen was black. I simply pressed down the home+power button for a few seconds and that resolved it. Thank you!!!.
To who may find this helpful: prior to fixing my screen, my home/touch id stopped working following a phone drop on a concrete floor which left my screen almost completely shattered. Hence, while detaching the home/touch id from the previous screen to the new screen, I cleaned the front part and edges of the golden coil with 68% alcohol and my home/touch id got back in full performance thereafter. I am not sure what the correlation between a damaged screen and a nonfunctional home/touch id button is, neither do I know if there is a correlation at all, but this is simply what worked for me.

You didn't mention that if you don't disconnect the battery first there is a great possibility of destroying the backlight filter (a component on the motherboard that controls the, guess what, the backlight of the lcd)! Also the little plastic casing for the proximity sensor must be first attached to the sensor itself and then on the new lcd assembly in order for it to work properly. Also by any means don't mess up with your home button otherwise you will be left without touch ID.
P.S.: this "little yellow thing" is the siri microphone

Does not having the plastic proximity sensor holder & front facing camera holder cause a short? The replaced screen works perfectly and I replaced the flex cables because the golden square part was missing, but when I charge the phone the back gets hot. It seems it's not the battery side getting hot but the opposite side where the connectors are.

If you're using a size too small you can strip the head. If the screw head starts to strip STOP. Go one size larger, press firmly and turn slow. There are ways to remove it even completely stripped but it's not recommended unless you have experience.

Why is there any thumbs down on this? If you can't follow the video and you tear a cable or lose a screw it's YOUR fault. No, you cannot replace the home button and keep Touch ID. Try replacing the back flex that runs behind the plate to repair your home button or clean the connecter with isopropyl 99%. If you tear the buttons flex or damage the chip your Touch ID will not work. If you don't have patience don't attempt, you'll just do more damage and it'll be more expensive to fix. If you don't place the screws back exactly where they came from, you can damage the logic board.

    • @mmz12

Why would you remove the battery? The phone being off is fine. Even just the display being off, I test screens all the time with a powered on device and hot swap them. If you ever get to where the backlight doesn't come on or the screen doesn't seem to work, just do a hard reset (power+home).
If it makes you feel safe you can disconnect the battery I guess, but certainly not remove it.

Great video Jerry. I do have one question though which can end up as a tip. When we are about to remove the screen there is adhesive holding it which makes it a little difficult to remove. Will using a heat gun lightly to melt the adhesive, then removing the screen be beneficial. This might save the water resistant feature if doing so

I ordered full screen lcd for my iphone 6s, it has fingerprint and everything. Do I have to skip most of the procedure and just connect the three ribbon that connect the lcd to the back cover of my phone? do you think it will not cause any damage?

Instead of buying the cheapest replacement screen and changing over the camera, home button, etc which is messy and fiddly. Just buy the following: LL TRADER LCD For iPhone 6s Black 4.7 inch Full Display Assembly Touch Screen Digitizer Replacement with Home Button/Front Facing Camera/Earpiece Speaker + Tools from Amazon. It costs about £6 more but worth it as then the replacing process is easy. I've never done this before and it took about 1/2 hour.

    Hello! Good video.
I bought a Iphone 6s that someone tried to replace the screen on. And it seems that he did not disconnect the battery so the backlight has been blown.
if i buy a new screen and replace it do you think it will work or will i still have to do some soldering?

First of all, thanks for a great video!
I followed it step by step and got a the screen replaced. After checking all functions such as camera, homebutton, touch-ID, selfiecam i thought the phone were 100% functioning again.
But when I started typing a message (while typing the letters: "q", "w", "a", "SHIFT", "1", "2" and "3", all of them are in the left side of the bottom of the touchscreen) the screen froze for a splitsecond and gave a minor vibration, it looks like it want to cycle tasks if i press one of the mentioned buttons and hold it.
Does anyone know what might cause this error? Is the touch-plate or what it's called ruined?

Got a problem bro I kno my home button is set up correctly and the flex cables are not damaged but I can't get fingerprint recognition it's not greyed out so it recognizes the original home button when I got to id and passcode it lets me slide it but it says failed. It immediately says failed. I've read that if u don't have the phone turned off when u perform the repair this could happen any thoughts

At 2:46 you mention that the replacement will most likely come with the home button cable. My replacement did not. The ribbon is there but not the "lego" piece to attach the home button. Is there a video to solve this? Can I re-use the ribbon from the old screen on the new screen?
