The disclaimer about this game being meant for a particular audience is very important. It's my first KS game and it can be a huge chore trying to get this game to finish in one evening. It's an amazing game in its own ways but also in dire need of tweaks and balances. It should be a "yes" with asterisk in backing this one. I am backing the new content.

Mhh it's a boss battler without a huge campaign added so this will get played more than kdm or oathsworn. They also added a shorter game mode. Also the artstyle is something outstanding not generic dark fantasy.

I saw this as a cut-down Kingdom Death: Monster like game, or at least the monster battle board without the lengthy settlement and campaign elements. A short 4 phase campaign as well as the less NSFW content makes it suitable for one-off games evenings (or maybe a couple of evenings). Backed the base game only.

I absolutely agree that this game isn't for everyone. If it does resonate with you it is amazing though. Every time my usual game group plays it we have a blast, however we have had an attempt to introduce it to another friend and not only did he not enjoy it, but the rest of us had a rough time enjoying it with someone who clearly wasn't interested as well. I don't mean that to be an insult to anyone. It just doesn't click some times and that's ok.

Would love to hear your opinion on Dungeon Saga. So on the fence with it

I'm not a fan of campaign games so this games offers the boss battles from those games without having to commit to a huge game. It's also easy to play which is a big plus for me, I can bring it to board game nights and have a good time.

I think it's definitely great for that, one thing I'm realising that I didn't fully clarify in the video is that I think it is a game people should back if it fits in their collection and people have been looking to pick up a copy, it's just not a game that fits in mine and equally I'd highly encourage folks to just back at the core pledge level especially if they've not played the game before (just in case they don't like it)

I backed the first campaign and I did so based on the art and the FOMO spread by other RUclipsrs at the time... I've since stopped watching many boardgaming KS YT channels and what do you know, I've also stopped backing KS! But yes, you are absolutely right, there is absolutely no depth to the game, I've played it twice and whilst the artwork and presentation is absolutely captivating the mechanics are massively lacking.

I’m really sorry that experience has put you off watching creators covering KS releases here on this platform. I know what you mean though and sometimes it feels like there is this tide of positive content that can be easy to get wrapped up in.
I hope over time we regain that trust but I totally appreciate what you’re saying.

@@shouldyoubackit Oh, don't be, I'm a big boy and was well aware I let myself be taken in by the FOMO and the art!
I've checked out your channel and absolutely love it - I think you're fitting a great niche of no nonsense, to the point, breakdowns.

You don't state why it wouldn't get a lot of play? You're vague about the "substance." I'm assuming you're talking it's too light of a game? You don't see yourself owning a gateway boss battler one shot for others to introduce or something lighter than doesn't take a huge commitment like Oathsworn?
I'm on the fence. Hopefully they add some more ambush cards for the og bosses in the core to give more depth. But even having a game "not for you" that you can play with people who are a) not gamers b) want to try a boss battler c) very little time commitment vs other boss battlers campaign games are huge selling points imo

You're totally right, in hindset I was way too vague on that and should have clarified. In my haste I chose to not dwell on that side of things as much and solely try and get to who I thought this was for as opposed to why someone shouldn't back it. It's something I should have taken the time to do and will try to ensure I do in the future.
For me a key thing is that I think it's too light for that pricepoint, it's equally just not a game I've been very interested in beyond the artwork. I do have a boss battler already in the collection and it's yet to get table time so for me to personally back another one would be irresponsible.
The most important thing for me though in this video is that I know a lot of folks out there will be looking to back this game and more than anything I just wanted to encourage people to back at the core level.

@@shouldyoubackit How do you feel about, in general (not this but just for future) backing something "not exactly for you" but to have on hand for others who may not game/try a boss battler/have less time and commitment for yourself and/or others that comes with a campaign game?
Does the concept of "buying things you don't necessarily like but should have on hand" a valid concept to you?

    • @shouldyoubackit
      @shouldyoubackit  Год назад

@@zenster1097 I think that's a great question, so whenever I look at backing or purchasing a game I actually take into account my full gaming group and games I think could fit as opposed to just games I want to play. I think it's a tricky one when we look at purchasing a game in case at some point we come across someone we may want to introduce to that genre of games because at that point where do we stop?

@@shouldyoubackit Campaigns are hard to get to the table. Boss battlers are mostly campaigns. I like that about TT plus it's lighter for people not into gaming. However, I wish there was more depth so I'm torn. Vagrantsong shares nothing but theme. It's a campaign game and I'm becoming more averse to getting them. They're not very practical. The niche for one-shot boss battlers (that isn't a tact on mode) is 1, with TT.
