Yes! The cast and the throwback dialogue really hurt the experience for me. Who thought that we were waiting for the Ripley line? So cringe. But what a gorgeous film, sound design etc. Wow. The ending was a pleasant surprise. 3 out of 5 for me.

Not that I'm the target viewer for this (as I'm not into this franchise at all), but not living in the US, the international marketing for this to build up any buzz to go see it has been totally abysmal. The original plan to make it go to Hulu was a wise one.

Orrin the cyborg’s performance is better and more convincing than Alan the android

Thanks for the non-spoiler review! I agree with your breakdown of all the Alien films. I will say I thought the first half of Prometheus was solid and promised much, and the second half was an insulting trainwreck lol. I'll watch this new film for the 'memberberries alone. Also, I suspected the cast would suck 🤣

The force awakens of the alien franchise .Easter eggs fan service .last act will either have you loving or hating. Very divisive

The last 15 minutes will be extremely divisive
I also hated but i guarantee some people will love it
A weird decision that doesn't quite fit the rest of the movie
Great review though, this is a hard movie to review without spoiling anything
The trailers are hiding a lot which is actually a good thing

The last 15-20 miuntes had me excited. Didn't know what would happen next. I was bored for most of the film except for the lack of gravity sequences. What a great idea. The cast was so bad except for the Andy character. Also the fan service was really cringe, the Ripley line. Wtf? 3 out of 5 for me.

I gotta disagree on my favorite action movie of the 1980s - It's a tossup between Predator and Die Hard for me.

I feel like they could have put DAVID in this movie, instead of the shoe-horned, nostalgia-baiting ROOK character. It would make more sense as an extention to the franchise and since they incorporated the "Black Goo," why not just go that extra step logistically? The last act even threw in a dose of Engineer/ hybrid/ Covenant malarchy haha. Not cool.
Other than that and the forgettable characters, I still really enjoyed this movie. Was luckily elevated by Fede Alvarez's direction and David Johnson.

    ALIATROCIOUS: ROMUL-ASS
Atrocious acting. Now I know why the trailer consisted of classic shots and had no performances because this was truly a terrible cast of ‘actors’ - fan film performances with high-end cgi - so much bad stuff in this way too much to mention. Hated it. ‘Feels like Alien’ Production design, cgi, sound and brooding soundtrack the only thing to take away from this dumpster fire in space.

So sad that we just keep getting the same boring alien movie with a female lead the comics have tons of cool ideas but Hollywood has no creative people anymore

I am still shaking my head over the recent love affair that people have with Gladiator. Having seen it in the theater at the time of release, I still feel that it’s a poor man’s Braveheart. As for the Scotts, Ridley is probably the more visionary of the brothers and Tony, more audience pleasing - he made popcorn/entertaining pictures.

I feel your Gladiator take is horrible, but I will not say anything mean.
