  • This video is a tribute to a more rare model build by Saab: the Saab 90. Personally, this is where my passion for the brand started back in 2003...
    Saab Automobile was a Swedish car manufacturer that was founded in 1945 and became known for its innovative designs and engineering. They produced various models over the years, including some well-known ones like the Saab 92, Saab 99, Saab 900, and Saab 9000

      lol it’s funny when my dad first mention the word saab to me i had no idea what he was talking about. he was first introduced to the car when he visited England his cousin had one of the 9-3. then we started looking at saabs and i didn’t like the way they look see at first. until he bought one and i took it for a drive and i instantly fell in love with it. my first time driving a turbo car it felt like a rocket 🤣. now i own a couple of them and there’s over a dozen in the family. and i will be driving them until there’s no more left 🤣💪🏽

      @@prolificbuilds What a great story! From the outside they look a bit odd, but once you drove one you are hooked :). The turbo models are even more addicting for sure. The first tubo I had was the 900NG 2.0 (FPT), what a fun car to drive. What models do you currently own? Like you, I will probably driving SAAB cars as long as possible! :D

      @@prolificbuilds 9-3 aero's are great! I got a 2005 v6 Aero too.The other one is a 1998 tuned 9-3 2.0. You prefer the 2.0 or the 2.8?

    • @prolificbuilds
      @prolificbuilds 3 года назад

      @@nielsonwheels83 it all depends on the situation ahaha. like if i’m racing or going to build the car fast i prefer the 2.8 since the motor is more capable of handling the power. but for daily commute i rather the 2.0 cause it’s so good on gas

    16 year old future car mechanic here, have been considering buying this beautiful car. This helped me make my decision. Thanks.

    The "90" and its predecessor, the venerable "99" were drivers' cars who enjoyed the feeling of the mechanicals against the tarmac. Sitting over the steering rack, close to the front axle line, the "99" platform delivered intimate messages between the drive and the road.
    Oh, I learned to drive as a youngster in a black 93B!

    Grew up with SAABs of every era 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s! We never got the model 90 in the US though. Our favs were the 1977 Silver 99 EMS. and the 1979 99 Turbo 5 dr hatchback. We had so many SAABs occasionally someone would stop at the house to inquire if we were a SAAB garage as they needed a repair shop for their SAAB. No. Sorry. All these SAABs are ours. Hehehehe! I really miss them!!!!

    Nice video. I'm always on the lookout for a Saab in good condition. Here in Canada the salty roads in the winters eat them alive. Hard to find one that won't need rusty floor pans, gas/brake lines/ fuel tank etc etc replaced. Best of luck with your Saabs!

    Love the look of those 90's! I picked up a 900NG, what many consider the worst version 900 of them all. Than again, nearly spotless bodywork, engine runs super smooth, shifts smooth, handles ok... Not too shabby for a 26yr old car.

    Leuke video Niels! Aangezien jij dus zo´n beetje alle Saabs hebt gehad wil je graag wat vragen. Als liefhebber van klassiekers zit ik al een tijd een Saab te overwegen, en dan vooral de 900 Classic als twee- of vierdeurs (vind ik persoonlijk mooier dan de drie- en vijfdeurs). Maar de 90 spreekt me ook erg aan, omdat het zo´n eigenzinnige mix van de 99 en de 900 is. Hoe kijk jij tegen het verschil tussen de 90 en de 900 aan? Het dashboard is natuurlijk een groot verschil, maar rijden ze ook duidelijk anders? En is de ene bijvoorbeeld (nog) degelijker gebouwd of betrouwbaarder dan de andere? Alvast dank!

      Hoi Eric,
      Dank dat je het een leuke video vond! Voor wat betreft het verschil tussen de 90 en de 900 classic: dit hangt denk ik wel een beetje af van met welke versie van de 900 classic je de 90 vergelijkt. Zelf heb ik een 5 deurs 8v SAAB 900 gereden, waarbij ik merkte dat de beenruimte voor de bestuurder een stuk minder is (en ik ben een lang persoon). Ik zou in dat perspectief dus zeker een tweedeurs aanraden. De 5-deurs zijn ook gevoeliger voor roestvorming. Daarnaast is het ook goed om te bedenken of je een injectiemotor wilt en of je wellicht voor een 16v variant wilt gaan (de iets nieuwere 900 classic). Succes met je zoektocht!

    Saab 90 wasnt swedish icon, it was the finnish icon! These were designed by finns in finland, and made in finland bt finns.

      @@nielsonwheels83 IM WRONG THOUGH, the body was shaped by björn envall the follover of sixten sason. he was swedish. but many finns worked in the sweden and finland for saab, so i think many techical things were made by finns, and the car was only manufactured in finland. so its 80% finnish but its a finnish icon. wery appreciated model.
