When Bennigans closed, I cried for all the future Monte Cristos that I had lost. No joke tho', I really was upset. I lived for those damned sandwiches. With the raspberry jam and seasoned fries? OMG!
I was a former kitchen manager at Bennigans. You almost got it right. 1. Put the batter in the fridge for about an hour 2. 2 slices of American 3. 2 slices of Swiss 4. The most important part of the recipe. Wrap sandwich in plastic very tightly and slightly squish. This will keep all the layers together. Put in coldest part of fridge over nite, then unwrap and dip in batter and fry the next day. (Obviously do this part before making the batter) 5. Can keep wrapped in fridge for 2 days Enjoy and don't forget the lipitor
I worked the line of Bennigans and the step you missed was after preparing the sandwich, you need to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and store in fridge overnight. The moisture will cause the meat & cheese to adhere to the bread when frying and no need for the toothpicks.
I too was a Bennigan's "Fry Guy". The plastic wrap step is a must for a higher probability of not falling apart and workability in the battering process. Bennigans used General Mills Fish Batter mixed with water. McCormick Golden Dipt Beer Batter seems to be a dead ringer for the General Mills product. A good size deep fryer is a must in my book to fry four wedges at a time and to get the identical looking result. Always a crowd pleaser when I make these.
I do not remember ever putting these in oven because we did not have an oven on the line, only in the prep area where I made so many quiche on the daily it was ridiculous.
You had me at “I $hit you not.” Indeed, when I discovered this masterpiece sandwich it was life changing. And it’s every bit as absurd as it sounds. Absurdly awesome. But as I got older, it became a “special treat”…the last one I had was after a colonoscopy! After that intestinal flush prep, I frickin DESERVED that sandwich!!!
THANK YOU for this. I have not had a Monte Cristo since just after college I went home to my parents and had brunch with them at Bennigans. The first one I had I was about ten --- ish? It has ALWAYS been my favorite and I was saddened when Benningans closed down in Georgia. I have not had one in probably thirty five years or more. NOW I CAN MAKE ONE.!
Wow! I just happened to come across your channel quite by accident and immediately Subscribed! I’m 75, so I remember these sandwiches from when my parents were younger and we would go to places that served these. My mom loved them! If it makes a difference to those concerned about the healthiness of these sandwiches…well, they aren’t health food, that’s for sure! But my darling mother lived to be 97 and was “with it” up until just about three days before she passed gently in her sleep. And at 97 she would gladly tell you “Life is short. So…enjoy!”
As a young man, I'd never heard of a Monte Cristo. While having brunch with a couple of good friends, one of my friends ordered a Monte Cristo. I asked, "what is that?" He answered, it's like nothing else. I thought the idea was absolutely insane. Then, I tried it. Unbelievable. Decadence, personified. One hasn't truly lived until they've had a Monte Cristo. I prefer real maple syrup, though. Her recipe was spot on! Thank you
OMG, when I was a kid my mom use to bring Monte Cristos home from work. She'd stop by some bar, and get them. We all LOVED them, just like this. I'm in my 60's. I have never found a Monte Cristo made like this. (The correct way!) Whenever I'd try to make, they'd fall apart. I was trying to fry just by dipping in egg. I'm so excited to try this! When I'd order one in restaurants, they would just be grilled, no powdered sugar, and when I'd ask for preserves, people looked shocked. Lol😂 My mom lives with me. Can't wait to surprise her with one. Thanks! New sub! 👍
I know this video is old, but my 4 sisters and I fly to Palm Springs from all over the country every March for a sisters’ week. The first place we go is this amazing deli. We ALL order the same thing - the MONTE CRISTO! It is phenomenal. That is where we go and what we eat to kick off our vacation every year. ❤️
The Blue Bayou Restaurant at Disneyland, Ca. ( that's the one that's in the Pirates of the Caribbean when you first leave in the boat) takes the credit for "inventing" this Sandwich. My childhood buddy's Mom was a Chef there when the Restaurant and the Ride first opened, she said they made about 400 sandwiches a day and they even made a special rig for dipping and frying 12 Sandwiches at a time, because this was so popular...amazing because there was NO Social Media, it was ALL word of mouth.
Every time we went to Disneyland the first thing we would do is make a reservation at the Blue Bayou restaurant for lunch. I always ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, Clam Chowder and a Mint Julep…the Clam Chowder was excellent too.
I would order the Monte Cristo and my son would order the Reuben and we would share. A whole Monte Cristo is too much sweetness for one person. Alternating with the Reuben was perfection.
I had my first MC sandwich at the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland about 1970. It was a revelation and I remember every detail of that eating experience. Bon appetite!!!
I have told everybody about the Montecristo I had it in Norfolk, Virginia in 1992 never had one since I hadn’t had one before and you don’t understand it really does change your outlook on life! On South Park and watch, but just because Butters likes to go to Bennigan’s when I miss it! Thank you so much for showing me how to make this❤❤❤❤❤❤
For years I have been searching for a proper copycat recipe for this sandwich. I never tried any recipe I found because I knew they were not right. I just didn't know why. Between your video and the comments, I think I have finally come across the correct recipe. I think I am tearing up. Thank you for not only the recipe and procedures, but also for sharing your wonderful sense of humor. Thank you so much
I stumbled upon this video by accident and when I saw it, I nearly cried with joy! This is my very favorite sandwich and I haven't had one in so long I almost forgot they really existed. You got an instant subscribe from me! Great, great video!
I'm a Chef. The first Monte Cristo I ate was at a Bennigans here in OKC. I've seen many video on making Monte Cristo. In my opinion, the very best Monte Cristo comes from Bennigans. I'm sure other's make a great one and rejoice in the fantasticness of the way they have made the sandwich. But I have to say. The BEST BY FAR.....is Bennigan's. I sure miss Bennigan's Restaurants in the OKC Area.
Worked at Bennigan's for years, but what we did differently was to make them up in bulk (to handle customer volume) and wrap them VERY tightly unbattered in plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours, then fried to order. This kept then from falling apart while frying. But you nailed it. A thumbs up for you! A shoot out to my friend in Mt. Laurel NJ, & Willow Grove, PA. Miss you all.
I teach a high school culinary class. It's Monte Cristo recipe calls for making a French toast dip instead of her batter and a skillet or grill fry instead of the deep fry. It also calls for Lingonberry preserves instead of Raspberry. Her version does sound fascinating.
I ate these 3 times a week when I was pregnant with my twins. I craved them big time. We lived about a mile from a Bennigan's in Niles IL. lol Thank you for posting.
I think it’s season 6 of “Frasier” where he references having made a fresh Monte Christo. The episode is about Frasier’s depression and overeating as a result of causing his own firing and the rest of the staff at the radio station KACL when the station manager decided to change the format to 24-hour Spanish programming . ❤️😊
Watching this while eating peanut butter out of the jar. I had no idea other people shared my love for the monte cristo. My parents used to take me there on my birthday, the raspberry jam was the best.
I want to thank you... I looked up Monte Cristo sandwiches and it pulled up many sandwiches that only used one meat, added mayonnaise and was dipped in egg and then fried... I was appalled so I remembered where I used to get it and typed that in and you came up... I want to thank you for keeping the Monte Cristo sandwich alive... our Bennigan's closed years ago and I haven't had one since then... Love your attention to detail and the authentic depiction...
Bennigan's is where I fell in love with this sandwich too! It is also delicious dipped in honey mustard or sprinkled with powdered sugar and dipped in maple syrup!
OMG! Yes! This is the only Monte Cristo I had to compare to, and I was addicted to them! I was so mad that Bennigan’s closed! Yesterday I went to the Cheesecake Factory and saw the Monte Cristo on the menu and my excitement crashed when it just wasn’t up to my expectations… so I came searching RUclips and found your channel. Thank you! I will be saving this video!
You’re a stitch! The MC is perhaps the world’s greatest sandwich. I don’t make them often but when I do, it’s a special occasion. Thanks for sharing your version.
When I lived in South Lake Tahoe in the 70's my friends and I would meet at the top of Harrah's on Friday afternoons to have our Monte Cristos. Great memories.
I Live in Austn,Tx, We had 2 Bennigans, I've never heard of a Monte Christo, but my friend gave me a half & I feel in Love with the sandwich, I took my daughter to the Bennigans for her birthday & wow this became our weekly going to Bennigans. We were so Sad & cried they both closed!! My daughter & I watched your video and are ready to try your recipe & we will use Raspberry, it's one of our favorites! Thank You for posting the recipe!! I am ready to share with the Grandkids!
@@RestaurantRecipeRecreations The Grandkids are picky eaters, So I put your video on the TV and we followed your directions, I had them make there own Sandwich & I cooked it, they were so excited & they LOVE the Monte Cristo & this is now there favorite food! By the way, they gave you a new name it's Mrs. Teacher! We Love your Video!! Thank You!
I love that sandwich so much! I had it every time we went to Bennigan's for work lunch in California. I worked with a French guy who was appalled by it and made fun of Americans for our decadence. I demanded he had a bite of mine (with the jam, of course). He never ordered anything else again. 😂 Thanks for the video! I'm gonna make one 💚
A Monte Cristo sandwich is a variation of the croque monsieur, but with the addition of sliced turkey added to the ham and Swiss cheese. Also, this sandwich is dipped in an egg batter, like French toast, and pan-fried instead of grilled, until golden brown.
In the late 80’s I used to make these all of the time when I worked at a Bennigans in Richmond, VA. I haven’t found any restaurant that ever made it as good as Bennigans.
I remember many years ago a friend had me try this at Bennigans and I was like WTH. a sandwich with powder sugar. I tried it and OMG I LOVED it. Those seasoned steak fries. WOW, how I miss them. Bennigans have long since been closed in my city. I have tried to make it in the past and have come pretty close. will try this version.
IKR, Ed!? Like I said in the video, on paper it doesn't make any sense. But in reality, is SO right😂 Let me know how you like it when you try it. I think you'll be very happy. Thanks for watching!
The very first Montecristo I ever had was at Bennigan’s. It was wonderful and has since become my favorite sandwich and I’ve had it at many places and I’ve made it myself, but nothing beats Bennigan’s or maybe it’s just a memory of the most incredible sandwich
i was explaining to a co worker the whole epiphanic experience that is eating your first Monte Cristo from Benningan's and yes it has to be Raspberry. This sandwich is maybe the grown ups equivalent of being a kid and eating cake. Looking up for more recipes, cheers!!
As a fellow Gen Xer, I concur that the Monte Cristo is Heaven on Earth. I can also attest that it's the perfect hangover remedy. Not recently of course but back in my college days? Oh yeah.
I have had the pleasure of having one of their Monte Cristos .I have also had it at other places . Bennigan’s. Was far better , but the others were good also. I have to try building one myself thanks for showing how.
I remember the first time I had that sandwich at Bennigan’s. I couldn’t believe how delicious it was. Now I’m really hungry for one. Thanks for a great food memory 😍
The Monte Cristo is the only thing I ever ordered at Bennigan's also! I never had anything else there lol. Nailed it the first time I ever ordered something and stuck with it! I miss Bennigan's. Their Fries were great too with this sandwich and the pickle and I'm not even a pickle eater but I always ate the pickle on the side of this sandwich. Perfect plate of food.
I am so happy this video popped up on my feed. My mom and I LOVED the Monte Cristo sandwich. Luckily, we found a Monte Cristo sandwich at Ford’s Garage. Not 100% a Bennigan’s Monte Cristo but pretty dang close. Thank you so much for this recipe. Loved seeing this made.
OH WOOOOWW I'M FROM BLOOMINGTON ILLINOIS!!! I REMEMBER THAT BENNIGENS!!! I WAS A TRAINING MANAGER AT BOB EVANS ON VETERANS PARKWAY MY SISTER RECENTLY RETIRED FROM STATE FARM INSURANCE & IS AN ALUMNI OF ISU BTW WE'RE FROM CHICAGO! I LOVE THIS RECIPE...BUT I WORKED FOR THE MELT HERE IN CLEVELAND OHIO & WE DID OURS KIND OF SIMILAR 💯💯💯💯💯💯
The Monte Cristo at Bennigan's is a standout. I'm so glad to see this. There used to be a restaurant in central FL called "Marco's Heritage Inn" that had the best sweet rolls. I haven't been able to track down that recipe. I would love to see you take that one on; especially since you've knocked the rest of them out of the park. You & those sweet rolls would be a killer collaboration.
Thanks Delilah! Well that would be a challenge for sure. I understand they are no longer in business so I wouldn't be able to email the Chef. I'll do some digging tho!
I’ve always had trouble deciding between a monte cristo and a Croque Monsieur. For today at least you’ve convinced me that I need a MC and yes, the preserves must be raspberry. Great work!
My son was the pickiest eater there was. He learned to eat after getting married. We were visiting our son and daughter-in-law, went out to a cheddars as I believe they carry them as well. My son said I don’t know what you want to order but the most savory thing I’ve ever tasted was the Montecristo sandwich. He is right!
Yum! Thnk you!! I had totally forgotten this sandwich and it was a favorite! Soooo good! Can’t wait to make it. I also remember Bennigan’s had a two for one happy hour at lunchtime and it was very popular! Can you imagine? Loved the 80’s 😂!

Made this last night for my family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus, it was just like the sandwich I remember from Bennigan's. I wish there was a written copy of the recipe in the You Tube comments section. It's definitely a keeper!
So glad Scott! I am in the process of building a website to go with my channel and once it is finished, all recipes will be found on the website. There will be a link on my channel page. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I swear Google knows what you want and search for. I wanted a Monte Cristo from this local Restaurant which made it with lobster it was on their online menu, however when I called they said they took it off. I lost my mind, LOL then your video came across my RUclips and I thought WTH? Thank you so much and I love your delivery on this. You are very entertaining and fast at going through the recipe! 🥰🥰🥰
That's perfect!!! I have always loved these at Bennigans and when the last one shut down, I was heartbroken. I just made one from memory and came close but your recipe looks spot on. Can't wait to try this and enjoy life once more.
New subscriber here. I love the way you’ve presented the recipe so clearly. Also, your personality and the concept of recreating restaurant winners is such a great idea. I’m going to give this Monte Cristo sandwich a try with the powdered sugar to boot! Thanks again for sharing with us all.
This looks so good and I love me a good Monte Cristo! And you are correct about the raspberry preserve, it's the only way to go with this sandwich! Thanks for another great recipe!
RUclips randomly added this video to my algorithm watched now I’m gonna order one there happens to be a bennigans right down the street from me in Manama, Bahrain 🇧🇭 . I’ll come back to give my thoughts first time trying it.
When the Bennigans closed down here in FLorida, I seriously wanted to cry. That was the first place I had monte's and no where has come close to them since!
It's funny, everybody seems to have that same feeling about Bennigan's. Makes me wonder why they ever closed! Try this MC, it will bring you right back!
The way you described your experience when you first tried the Monte Cristo 😄 I tried it at Disneyland for the first time, and I knew I would like it when I saw the image on the menu "BUT" when I took my first bite 😳 it blew my mind, I knew I'd never the same.
Whoa! This was sinfully good. Definitely decadent-like a walk through a carnival. My 14 yo son asked if I could please make it every day (I’ll for sure make it on his birthday 😃). Thanks again, RRR!
I'm from Dallas Texas and Bennigans has been gone from Texas for 20 years now. I don't understand why they tanked. They were always busy. If you guys are still eating there, I am jealous.....
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I have searched for this recipe ever since the franchise closed. This recipe is the benchmark from which I rated other’s attempts at a Monte Cristo. Unfortunately, none have ever risen to the challenge (in my humble opinion). If you choose to eat unhealthy, this one is worth the self loathing you’ll later feel. lol
I grew up in Chicago. In 1990-91 I worked in a few Bennigans locations: Presidential Towers, one on Michigan Ave, and one in the south suburbs. Great times. Loved this sandwich, btw. Thanks for the video & memories.
Best way is to hold the sandwich over the oil letting strings of batter go into the oil as you place the Sandwich in. This creates strings of crispy batter attached to the sandwich looking like a bed of straw on the plate. Nicer presentation and those crispy bits are awesome
My Wife and I would enjoy taking our Children to Bennigans to have Monte Cristo sandwiches and crispy fries. Bennigans was a main staple for us because this meal was our favorite treat. I miss those great times at the restaurant with my Family. Bennigans was a great family restaurant.
When Bennigans closed, I cried for all the future Monte Cristos that I had lost. No joke tho', I really was upset. I lived for those damned sandwiches. With the raspberry jam and seasoned fries? OMG!
The MC can be yours again!😆
Yes, it was very tragic! I went into morning as well.
Cheddars serves one if you have one locally. It's not the same of course but it's good
You were not the only one😂😂😂
Oh my goodness. I'd forgotten about those fries... yum.
I was a former kitchen manager at Bennigans. You almost got it right.
1. Put the batter in the fridge for about an hour
2. 2 slices of American
3. 2 slices of Swiss

5. Can keep wrapped in fridge for 2 days
Enjoy and don't forget the lipitor
Awesome, thanks for the tip 👍 Lipitor🤣🤣
You telling me, you guys made all these monte cristos 24 hours in advance??
Yup.
@@nopejoeandangie Exactly, I couldn't believe it when I first found out too, lol. Look at it this way, they did fry and powder them to order. 😁
Did you all use a custom batter or Bisquick as well?
I worked the line of Bennigans and the step you missed was after preparing the sandwich, you need to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and store in fridge overnight. The moisture will cause the meat & cheese to adhere to the bread when frying and no need for the toothpicks.

Only an American restaurant chain could take an unhealthy sandwich and make it even more unhealthy via battering and deep frying! Nice.
I do not remember ever putting these in oven because we did not have an oven on the line, only in the prep area where I made so many quiche on the daily it was ridiculous.
Thanks for the tip!!!
I adored this sandwich..no restaurant makes it like that these days....bring Bennigan's back please
IKR? You can have the MC again!
Cheddars has a good one
Come on, Bennigans monte cristo sandwich rules!!!!!😊
That damn chef that thinks he can make a monte cristo from Bennigans defies the laws of physics by sucking and blowing
Finally!!! A proper Monte Cristo 😊😊😊😊😊

I ordered this sandwich and watched them eat.
It was a delicious day.
For sure! 💣💯🥳
You’re a stitch! The MC is perhaps the world’s greatest sandwich. I don’t make them often but when I do, it’s a special occasion. Thanks for sharing your version.
You’re welcome Peter! 🥰🥰
When I lived in South Lake Tahoe in the 70's my friends and I would meet at the top of Harrah's on Friday afternoons to have our Monte Cristos. Great memories.
That is an excellent story and equally excellent memory for you. thank you for sharing 🥰

The Grandkids are picky eaters, So I put your video on the TV and we followed your directions, I had them make there own Sandwich & I cooked it, they were so excited & they LOVE the Monte Cristo & this is now there favorite food!
Thanks for the video!
Oh well, the French love to make fun of Americans. What can you do?
🤷♀️
Thank you for this. I mourn the Bennigan's Monte Cristo until now. Yay!❤😊
The MC is yours again! 😋
In the late 80’s I used to make these all of the time when I worked at a Bennigans in Richmond, VA. I haven’t found any restaurant that ever made it as good as Bennigans.
I still haven't forgotten my Monte Cristo sandwich experience and now I can create it. Thanks so much! Thumbs up!
You are so welcome! Enjoy, Angela! 😋😋
Back in the mid 80s in Houston. After working in Swiss bakeries,(2) I remember this, and Guinness on tap.👍🤤
Heck yes! And don't forget the Death by Chocolate and their famous Irish Coffee!😋
It is definitely a Fan Fave, Becky! 😋😋
Ma’am, you have made me very happy! Thank you!
My pleasure 😊 The MC makes me happy too, Bruce! Enjoy and thanks for watching and commenting.
Man, I miss this sandwich so much! It was my go to hangover food when I was in my 20's.
You and me both, Jules 😂👍💯
i was explaining to a co worker the whole epiphanic experience that is eating your first Monte Cristo from Benningan's and yes it has to be Raspberry. This sandwich is maybe the grown ups equivalent of being a kid and eating cake. Looking up for more recipes, cheers!!
You are a man after my own heart, Carlos💜 Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers to you too friend!
As a fellow Gen Xer, I concur that the Monte Cristo is Heaven on Earth. I can also attest that it's the perfect hangover remedy. Not recently of course but back in my college days? Oh yeah.
I don't disagree about a single thing you said! 💯
I have had the pleasure of having one of their Monte Cristos .I have also had it at other places . Bennigan’s. Was far better , but the others were good also. I have to try building one myself thanks for showing how.
You’re so welcome 😉 enjoy!!!! 😋😋
I remember the first time I had that sandwich at Bennigan’s. I couldn’t believe how delicious it was. Now I’m really hungry for one. Thanks for a great food memory 😍
You're welcome. They are delicious, and I just made these last weekend for Sunday brunch. So. Darn. Good.
Thanks I just got some bisquick and have been looking for some different things to do with it love your content. Hope it grows because its amazing.
Thank you, so much, for your kind words! Glad you are enjoying the channel 😍
Wow! I remember this sandwich fondly. It was the only thing I would order at Bennigan's. It was so good. Now I know how to make it! Thanks!
So DAM good! Enjoy! Just made it New Year's day for brunch. It's always a hit 😋
I worked at a Bennigans back in the day.
Best Monte Cristo recipe!
Yes! Thank you 😊
That sandwich is a staple in my life..
Then it sounds like you have a great life!😁
Thank you! I loved Bennigans Monte Christo sandwich!
You're welcome, Gary! The MC is the best! 😋
You are welcome, Elizabeth 😘
Thanks Ezel! Always fun to hear from fellow Chicagoans 😘 I've lived in Florida for 27 years tho, so I'm basically a Southerner now😅
Omg!! I used to order this! And my husband came to love it too… I’m going to have to try this.
Enjoy!! 😋😋
A Monte Cristo is French toast with ham and turkey and cheese. It's awesome!
Yep! That’s basically it. 😋😋
I’ve always had trouble deciding between a monte cristo and a Croque Monsieur. For today at least you’ve convinced me that I need a MC and yes, the preserves must be raspberry. Great work!
Thank you, Molly 💕I agree, Croque Monsieur is delicious!!
Love it, thank you! 💕😘
Yum! Thnk you!! I had totally forgotten this sandwich and it was a favorite! Soooo good! Can’t wait to make it. I also remember Bennigan’s had a two for one happy hour at lunchtime and it was very popular! Can you imagine? Loved the 80’s 😂!
LOVE the 80's. Top Tier Xer, here! 🥰

Mine too! Enjoy! 😋
These were my favorite sandwiches of all time.
For good reason! 😋😋😋
Thank you for this, Terese! Comments like yours make my whole damn day!! Cheers, GF 😘🙏
That's perfect!!!
I have always loved these at Bennigans and when the last one shut down, I was heartbroken.
I just made one from memory and came close but your recipe looks spot on. Can't wait to try this and enjoy life once more.
I made it......soooo tasty!!! Now I'm watching your other videos just to see what i should make new next week. Thank you
You're welcome! Report back next week with your new recipe 😋 👌
God I miss Bennigans. My favorite restaurant ever. I saw one still open in West Texas a couple years ago.
EVERYBODY misses Bennigan's!😌
That's my hometown and I miss Bennigans
Me too! 💕
New subscriber here. I love the way you’ve presented the recipe so clearly. Also, your personality and the concept of recreating restaurant winners is such a great idea. I’m going to give this Monte Cristo sandwich a try with the powdered sugar to boot! Thanks again for sharing with us all.
Oh, thank you so much. I love the feedback, thank you for commenting and the nice words. Love y'all!
We lost our bennigans too the monte Cristo was my FAVORITE! Miss it like crazy!
It can be yours again, Sandy! 😋
I went to Benningans ,once and the monte Cristo was amazing.
So amazing. 🤩
Amazing - fellow Redbird here - in Florida now, but definitely going to try this
Hello Patti, nice to "meet" you 💕
This looks so good and I love me a good Monte Cristo! And you are correct about the raspberry preserve, it's the only way to go with this sandwich! Thanks for another great recipe!
Love you, girl! Hope this one made you smile!
@@RestaurantRecipeRecreations definitely made me smile! It seems so easy to make once you show us how!
RUclips randomly added this video to my algorithm watched now I’m gonna order one there happens to be a bennigans right down the street from me in Manama, Bahrain 🇧🇭 . I’ll come back to give my thoughts first time trying it.
Please do! And thank you for commenting, Smoothconey 😁
Just found this - thank you! Gen-X: grew up with the best music, too!
You are RIGHT about that! 💯💯
Luvly version and great video ❤
I got my 1st Montechristo at Biffs diner in Oakland, and it was identical and truly scrumptious 👌🏾
So good! Thank you for the comment ❤🙏😍
God I love those sandwiches
IKR??!! Thanks for watching and commenting Jim!
I had a Monte Cristo at Bennigans. Great sandwich.
So good! 😋😋
Thanks for sharing, have not tried a monte cristo sandwich but will certainly try one.
You are in for a treat Richard! They are so good 😋😋
The way you described your experience when you first tried the Monte Cristo 😄
I tried it at Disneyland for the first time, and I knew I would like it when I saw the image on the menu "BUT" when I took my first bite 😳 it blew my mind, I knew I'd never the same.
The MC is King 😂😂💕
Whoa! This was sinfully good. Definitely decadent-like a walk through a carnival. My 14 yo son asked if I could please make it every day (I’ll for sure make it on his birthday 😃). Thanks again, RRR!
So glad you loved the Monte, they are decadent aren't they? Thanks for your support and for watching 😍
I make special trips to Bennigans just for this sandwich.
Now you don't have to 😁 thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm from Dallas Texas and Bennigans has been gone from Texas for 20 years now. I don't understand why they tanked. They were always busy. If you guys are still eating there, I am jealous.....
@@matthewtolbert4843 ours in Sarasota is gone too😫
@@matthewtolbert4843 There's only a handfull left in the country. I believe there's one in Iowa. I might make a pilgrimage.
Great video! Thank you for sharing this. Been a long time since I've had a Monte Cristo.
Glad you enjoyed it! Love the MC 😋❤️
Thanks for sharing that. Bennigan’s was a fun spot to work. And 💯 on the MC. Killer sandwich 😋
Best way is to hold the sandwich over the oil letting strings of batter go into the oil as you place the Sandwich in. This creates strings of crispy batter attached to the sandwich looking like a bed of straw on the plate. Nicer presentation and those crispy bits are awesome
Great tip 🤘
Best to use a deep fryer if you’re going to do it that way
that was perfect from what I remember at Bennigan's......I used to order that all the time.....and plus you cracked me up! great job!
Thank you Harlan! I like to try to keep it fun😁😁
My Wife and I would enjoy taking our Children to Bennigans to have Monte Cristo sandwiches and crispy fries. Bennigans was a main staple for us because this meal was our favorite treat. I miss those great times at the restaurant with my Family. Bennigans was a great family restaurant.
Thanks for sharing that Reginald! I love it!🥰
