And what little updates they did throw out, anyone could have really done in like a few days tops. Remember all those "Big map changes"? That turned out to be just throwing in some extra pre made assets around the map. That is something anyone could have done in a day
They know exactly what the player base wants. They also know they aren't going to give us what everyone wants. Don't for a second think that they don't understand what people want.
After their last shit show BFV the fanboys should have known not to trust EA/Dice BF4 launch, BF hardline, and the crap game BFV and double telling the fan base "if you don't like it don't buy it" I was right on the money this game was going to be crap while most of everyone was being lemmings and jumping on the hype train. Dice is right what a time be alive to witness the downfall of Dice and battlefield 👏.
Well, you know... If basic hitboxes don't work on release after a game has been delayed for over a year it certainly says something. Sadly enough vehicle combat is just as bad. Like, for real; if this game wouldn't have had operators I'm pretty sure there'd be a stable fanboy-base that they could milk with micro-transactions somehow (actual good gun skins like in Apex). But they pushed it too far. I think CS:GO/apex have a good balance when it comes to micro's; they're valuable/cool but don't interfere with the gameplay and if you don't want to mess around with it you don't have to. Everybody happy. Now everybody sad.
Powerful succinct observation,@@MrInsertyn . 👍🏼 Hitboxes did not work , after a delay. That alone should’ve been the clue of how _tish_ the game would be & how incompetent DICE is now
Well it's like they didn't design this game at all. It's hard to even understand. If we assume they started to work on the game a month before release then they wouldn't have had time to do anything new, they would have pretty much copy pasted old maps, weapons, mechanics, ui etc. and it would have been better than given. Or if they had ample time with the project they should have been able to do what they wanted. So how come they keep repeating "Things didn't work like we wanted"?
When I think about battlefield, I think of the dirt on the characters faces. I am so glad that the developers have finally realized this and am eager to see their next brilliant realization.
You’re absolutely right, Joe. AAA developers should not be releasing “updates” showcasing work-in-progress on full-priced games that dropped 6 months ago. The sooner gamers stop paying for unfinished garbage, the sooner these developers will start making games worth playing again.
That's games "as a service" for ya. Sell you the idea of a game, then hopefully patch that idea into a game over the course of a year or two under the guise of "free content". It's crazy how we thought DLC and MTX's were the bane of video games. I miss buying a complete game at launch and a some expansions a few months later. Way better than this IV drip bag of content we get from most games now
@@Wulfen109 The fact that so many gamers got sucked by this is really sad. Unfortunately, like the "whales" in mobile gaming, those are the ones the devs pay attention to: morons who get all excited and worked up from seeing animations, and can forgive shitty gameplay and unfinished products. I can't believe Dice is showing a trailer with no actual gameplay improvement whatsoever, only cosmetic shit, and expect a standing ovation.
I like how they have the BF4 and BF1 in the back and taking credit for the things that they didn't accomplish. This DICE is not the same DICE that released those games.
Lars Gustavsson was actually one of the principal designers behind Battlefield 1. He's the so-called "father" of the Battlefield series (he's been with DICE from the very beginning ever since Digital Illusions was acquired by EA), so I don't know why you're claiming he's "taking credit for something that he didn't accomplish" when he clearly did contribute towards Battlefield 1. Source: wikipedia article for "Battlefield 1"
@@BennyGoId there are reports, that many Dice employees left the company during Battlefield 5. Sure, they still have Lars for example, but you can see especially at the aweful UI of 2042, that there are different people working on the series now.
They aren't. Many veterans left the franchise before battlefield v released to make embark studios. Tom Henderson made a video on this game's development and it was a TRAINWRECK behind the scenes. Dice is run by people who are new, inexperienced and who don't listen to feedback from their developers
If people wanted specialists, they'd go play Fortnite or Overwatch. Battlefield should look to the base they have rather than try and be a shite copy of an oversaturated market.

When they said " more immersion, and fixing specialist" I for some reason had hope. Then they said "add more dirt" and I literally got hot in the face. And 8 months after this failure this is it? I would have felt better if they got rid of specialists, and just fixed performance. Just those 2 things would be mountain's better than EVERYTHING they have shown. It would bring more playability and immersion which is something bf 2042 lacks. I can't believe this... I really cant.

DICE/EA: "We're going to stick with our Specialists." Me: "I'm going to stick with my boycott, because I'm not interested playing some Call of Duty / Apex Legends / Fortnite hybrid garbage."
Are they really that out of touch? Is some overlord at their meetings really that stubborn they won't back down and remove specialists? It's almost unbelievable
It's corporate gaslighting. They know they have a problem but actually fixing it is either expensive or cockblocked by their bosses, so they make a bad faith "fix" for an aspect of the problem that wasn't broken so they can put out a release saying "PROBLEM FIXED"
It's so clear that DICE did not eat their dogfood during production. This game is loaded with bad ideas that would have never survived early prototyping at a competent studio.
They literally had the opportunity to abandon specialists and bring back classes as a sign of goodwill (however miniscule it is) but greed and stupidity always finds a way I suppose
The game started as a Battle Royale. They already admitted it. Once they dropped that, every single bad decision in the game made sense. The special "hero" like characters, the massive maps that are too big even for two teams of 64. The lack of Campaign. The awful map design for two factions fighting for control. The awful vehicle physics. The lack of a Scoreboard. How bafflingly bad Breaktrhough was designed (it was 99.9% impossible to win as an attacker). THe special Fortnite like skins they were trying to push at the start. Everything screams "This wasn't gonna be a BF at all"
@@christiananddanyell or specialists could have been devided INTO classes...or some kind of special dudes you can get with earned points etc....dont know
Holy shit, that "improving the soldier animations" part is crazy. Its not hard to create that sort of "turns the gun until they get into an uncomfortable position" thing; standard Third Person Shooter tutorials on youtube will tell you how to do that in Unity 3d and Unreal Engine (Maybe Gadot, too, but I don't use it so I don't know). They're straight up showing you shit that YOU can program yourself in free engines, and pretending they're good updates.
Exactly, whats even more embarrassing is that this is an update for a 7 month old game when these animations should be a launch feature... I cannot believe gaming has reached a point where core fundamental animations like character movements are being patched in
We all now that bf5 wasn't the best battlefield, but we can all agree that it had enough ui options, great movement, graphics and more. It was definitly best battlefield if we look at quality of life and graphic improvements. Battlefield 2042 went back to battlefield 3, or no bf3 had more options and more realistic movement. Its like all the devs forgot what they did in the previous games.
Not only animation, but also the map design and 128 players integration... They are basically announcing they have set the time period, and now they are starting to work on the game mechanics / map design ! How is that possible to annouce through a dev interview that the game is not even ready for the beta phase ? 😂
After over a hundred hours into this game... I tried, I really did. I refuse to even be a single player count number that contributes to this ongoing nonsense. Abort asap and go back to the drawing board to start from scratch.

@@brianharrington7663 the game is built around specialists, and thats why people hate the game. The game is flawed in every way compared to the old games.
I tried coming back to this game, and one of the biggest problems I had, was how fast everyone moves! It seems like there's no room for mid range fighting, and the best strategy as infantry is the either snipe, or hop around the map with an SMG, like its CoD.
I partially agree. BF1 is definitely built for a more rush heavy play style than previous games. But the raw movement speed is fairly slow. I remember at the time, some people complaining about it feeling slow compared to other shooters of the time. And with BF1 it still felt like there were battle lines. I think part of that is the movement speed and more grounded movement options, as well as the fact BF1 still Had spotting as a default for everyone. I could still play that game at a mid range, and just feel like an infantryman. Playing Rush on 2042 felt incredibly disorganized, with people in wing suits, and grappling hooks, and body armor, zipping around all over the place. And even worse, everyone looks the same! Perhaps some of those things have been improved in the new update? I haven't tried it yet.

I fell pray to the marketing and pre ordered, I’ve learnt my lesson. I do not want to condone this poor development mindset, it’s sad to see where not only dice are going but where gaming is going as a whole
True, being able to update a game after launch really is a double-edged sword. Sure, games can have minor bugs fixed afterwards BUT it has created the "release broken fix later" mindset. Combine that with extra monetization like lootboxes, battle pass and skins on top of a road map full of lies and empty promises...🤑 I really don't get why people still pre-order/buy day one. I stopped buying games right away as soon as complete and GOTY editions started showing up. FOMO is also a common tactic used to lure players in but that does not affect me personally. I only play single player or local splitscreen. If anyone is on the fence of "should i pre-order or not" think about this: is it better to buy a new game for 70$ or buy it later when bugs are mostly fixed, prices have dropped, and any DLC is included in the purchase. For single player games it is a no-brainer, but with the "live service" it's always a gamble. After all, servers can get shut down at anytime.
Nothing makes or breaks a company like 'word of mouth' Tell every gamer you know not to buy another product from these guys. problem is, Joe has a mouth which reaches a lot of people. and the words that come out of it keep hyping up all the new dank AAA games based on fake trailers.
my favorite line is when he says "we need to make sure we get it right and we can deliver to our players what they deserve" that's something you're allowed to say before the game launches, after the game launches it should be "we need to make sure we clean the bed after we shat in it"
From this update video it's clear that whoever the top management at DICE or EA is are the kinds of people who can't tolerate hearing bad news, are surrounded by yes men, and *HAVE* to be right about everything. Even when it causes their multimillion dollar to produce video game to flop. It doesn't matter how much they frame their BS as "being positive", saying stuff like this says more about your company than a broken & poor product ever could. No wonder there is rampant abuse at major video game studios when there are people like this in charge. Honestly the AAA video game industry is due for a crash and things like "Seasons" for video games are stupid, have always been stupid, and will continue to be stupid. I'm not paying for updates or other additional content when I pay top dollar for your product. AAA games have truly become all the worst parts of Cable TV, which is why I avoid them.

That being said, we're confident in our own research that we've identified the areas that needed improvement and we could address." Then they go on and "fix" things that nobody is talking about. Why? Because they are doing the laziest things they can do. "Quick, what can we spruce up that won't take us much time and then market it as major upgrades so we can tell the dupes we did something." It is the same thing they do with Madden games.
I totally agree with Joe. This should have been done before launch. If we want to be heard everyone needs to keep voicing their disappointment and issues they have with this game. It's because of people like Joe, that have a large following, that make these people listen. We need to stand up and say NO to being force fed features "Specialists" we don't want and who's sole purpose is to make money for share holders. EA is garbage!

There's no way they would actually try to salvage this. They should just make Battlefield Portal into a full game with all maps from Battlefield 3-5 and all of the gear etc. and call it a day. I do not trust Dice with trying out any new ideas at this point.
I agree, Portal is the best thing about this whole thing. Might actually get some amazing mods and maps through that if they open it up. The main game is...well...TECHNICALLY a game.

Why the fuck you going to skimp out 1942? What the fuck is wrong with you! To this day I still say that 1942 is the better Battlefield out of all of them in the whole series because unlike the literal majority of the games that either give you reserve ammo for your BS camping with snipers or removing aspects of war like Battlefield 1943 that removed naval warfare entirely, the series is literally called BATTLEFIELD, the lines aren't just on fucking land. 1942 had the best class system where all of the classes were balanced AROUND the kits they had, Snipers were extremely deadly as only two body shots were needed to drop someone, however that was balanced by giving them only FIFTEEN BULLETS, you were actually encouraged to go for headshots because of your limited ammo supply because bodyshotting someone was considered a waste of ammo and the entire enemy team would fear you if you knew you were a good shot with the class.
The lack of variety with the new props around the map speaks volumes as well. Seriously it looks like someone went into the world editor one afternoon and just spammed 4 assets everywhere. The whole map looks under construction. 😂
I'm sick and tired of people making excuses for million dollar corperations. Older gamers know the evolution & devolution of gaming. We know what should be expected while newer gamers don't know what they're loosing out on. They think it's normal to buy passes and all this other crap sold separately when it used to be in games by default. We are literally living in the best age of gaming with the WORST the gaming industry has ever been. I would argue that we are living in the golden age of gaming possibilities hindered by corperate greed. We can practically make any game anyone can think of but instead it's held back by money making game mechanics, unfinished games, ripped content sold as DLC and forced live service amongst other trends. 🤦 I can't believe EA tried to say single player games are a thing of the past that nobody wants. You realize how awesome it is to buy a game like Blazing Chrome and feel like you bought a brand new SNES game in modern day? Every game and style has it's place and gaming companies don't understand that anymore. Otherwise we would have the Paper Mario A thousand year door 2 already. Not every game has to fit the newest money making model or else they aren't games, they're gambling machines.
I know your frustration. I've come across some of the most asinine rationale for these greedy and exploitative business practices. Sometimes, they even admit to getting ripped of, but make some BS excuse for why it's a good thing. One guy bought the day one DLC for V Rising (which came out in Early Access) and basically said that he regretted getting the DLC because it was way over priced but was okay with the idea that he was supporting the devs. More or less saying, "They charged too much and ripped me off, I regret letting myself be ripped off, but I support the devs ripping me off." Besides the issue of day one DLC existing for early access games being BS to begin with (for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who knows what early access is), it's sad to see people just accept that they are going to get screwed and just live like that's how it's supposed to be. This is all this generation knows, and even if we preach about a time when things were more fair for us, and how we should demand that we get treated more fairly, they defend the current practices and gleefully get ripped off. And so game companies keep pushing the line that gamers today keep letting them get away with. Partly through ignorance, and partly through compulsive behaviors and just a lack of self control (gotta get that new shiny!). Frustrating to see the gaming industry that I grew up with, and grew up with me, has turned into.
I hope the game industry will evolve like the music industry, now artists can be so independent and release the music they like and how they like when they like because they dont need to be signed by a big corporation one day maybe videogames studios will reach that kind of independency
Nothing they listed sounds like an improvement to the core gameplay pitfalls they purposefully placed in the game. Not coming back for this and not going with them where they go in the future. RIP Battlefield

What’s hilarious is that most of the BF2 team as I understand it didn’t even come over. The big named people that made they game into what it is today all left.

I’ve been a battlefield fan my whole life. Probably my favorite shooter series of all time. This is the first one I did not buy but I heavily looked into it (hence why I didn’t buy it) so I’m aware of the problems it has. Speaking for myself and my group of seven friends who all love Battlefield, we will not buy this game unless the specialist system is removed and replaced with the classic squad system. It hurts watching this and seeing that they are doubling down on specialists. Looks like no battlefield for me this generation.
Im sorry then but lol the amount of resources it would take to remove specialists would basically make it a brand new game. Do they even hear themselves? How can they believe the monumental amount of bullshit coming out of their own mouths??
The weapons in game were by far my biggest disappointment. Going from BF4's millions of combinations and like 200 guns to 20 guns including 1 semi automatic pistol, 4 assualt rifles and a handful of other guns was such a fucking joke. I am so glad I never paid for this pile of shit. What a joke this studio has become.
When they talked about the Map improvements and Movement changes I couldn't help but laugh. It feels like these were solved problems, it just doesn't make any sense to me like "OH yeah, we forgot about putting stuff in our empty maps." Also "We've fixed third person animations that shouldn't have been that stiff to begin with." Also "we're a multi billion dollar company btw."
When the dev talks about Hazard Zone he straight up admits that they built their maps around that mode. That explains why all the maps feel like they're meant for extraction style squad shooters and don't work at all in the proper teambased battlefield modes.
Look I wont put myself on any pedestal here. As an ameture solo developer, new to my craft, new to coding(I am only doing c# scripting at the moment) ... I find it hard to believe it takes a team the size of DICE this long to fix their game... maybe it's just me, I obviously dont work there.. but ... how does it take this long?
As a lifelong WoW player as well as Battlefield, the mistakes DICE is making remind me sooo much of Blizzard. "Trust us fans. We're right and you're wrong" for MULTIPLE GAMES until their franchise is on life support. Then they gotta come out of their precious ivory tower and finally communicate. Communication that WREAKS of PR.
What the devs are saying is "We're finally addressing the issues the thousands of players told us about before they all uninstalled BF2042 and vowed to never buy another BF, EA game".
Surprised there’s nothing on how badly the jets handle compared to previous games. Hell, the WW2 planes have better handling than the jets do. You can get used to it but it’s so bad. Wish they got the people from Ace Combat to do their jet mechanics.
I’m a pretty bad pilot I won’t lie but the aircraft in 2042 all feel unflyable to me, that’s right I had to create a new word to express my feelings, I literally avoid aircraft as a pilot at all costs, might fool around as a gunner for a bit but even that’s just kind of meh unless you’re lucky enough that you have an ace pilot who can put you on target without much of your own work

Hazard zone and specialists being a straight up FAILURE should tell them to stop trying to please audiences that don't even care about their game while also basically shutting out the hardcore fans of the franchise. This is what happens when you follow trends instead of building on what already works. I really hope this whole ordeal has been a learning lesson for them. I'm sadly im doubtful

Like, for real; if this game wouldn't have had operators I'm pretty sure there'd be a stable fanboy-base that they could milk with micro-transactions somehow (actual good gun skins like in Apex). But they pushed it too far. I tried coming back to this game, and one of the biggest problems I had, was how fast everyone moves! It seems like there's no room for mid range fighting, and the best strategy as infantry is the either snipe, or hop around the map with an SMG, like its CoD.
We've had that since BF1. Everyone talks about how great that game is but it really plays like CoD. BF3 maybe 4 was the last actual BF game

There's no way they would actually try to salvage this. They should just make Battlefield Portal into a full game with all maps from Battlefield 3-5 and all of the gear etc. and call it a day. I do not trust Dice with trying out any new ideas at this point.
Actually a good idea, ngl.
I agree, Portal is the best thing about this whole thing. Might actually get some amazing mods and maps through that if they open it up. The main game is...well...TECHNICALLY a game.
Literally this.
Just take Battlefield 3, 4, 1 and V and cram them into Portal mode, re-release it for $20-$30, rebrand it as Battlefield Portal and call it a day
Why the fuck you going to skimp out 1942?
Yeah, just re-release old games in chunks, with micro transactions,my god people, you get what you deserve I guess.

I can't believe EA tried to say single player games are a thing of the past that nobody wants.
Games used to be a work of art. Now they're a work of misery.
This is what happens when record labels make music instead of actual musicians
"Nah youre a boomer the future is now old man"
Said everyone that talks video games to me that never played an actual video game until 2022
I hope the game industry will evolve like the music industry, now artists can be so independent and release the music they like and how they like when they like because they dont need to be signed by a big corporation one day maybe videogames studios will reach that kind of independency

I beta tested this game, and we told them about many of these issues and it basically fell on deaf ears. I am so disappointed in this game and this is my favorite shooter series. I really hope that as they are working on the next Battlefield (which they mostly are right now) I really hope that they actually listen to the players this time, and not just continue to go with what clearly doesn't work.
