The importance given to families in indian markets is so true (along with the cultural aspect).
I went to a nice restaurant last sunday during lunch hrs, I walked in solo, n they refused me a full table. They asked me to sit opp to a couple as two chairs out of 4 were vacant. I was quite hungry, also in a hurry, so had to eat with two strangers (who were a couple, hence were very much talking to each other) on my solo date 🙄 it was awkward but i focussed on my food 😅
