I trained my budgie to recall into the palm of my hand then my wild budgie learnt from him how to recall which helped a lot in taming him
The opposite happened to my budgies .. I got a couple .. I trained them then the female died out of fatty liver .. I bought another female and she is very wild and loves to fly every where .. she taught the male to be wild and fly .. as soon as they wake up they fly all day untill 5 they enter the cage and sleep .. they even fly just over my head or around me while doing my work .. but never on my hand
i guess Im kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream newly released movies online ?
@@christiandaxton6285 yes u are off topic
I had a clipped budgie, he was the best out of all my birds in flight training. I could put my hand on the ground across the room, he would see my hand and run to it, he descended super well and going up. He also loved to go upside down so I taught him to flip. Sadly he passed away about 3 months ago😞
Aww that's adorable and I'm so so sorry for your loss.😢
So sorry to hear that.
i know this was a year a go but its never fun having a pet pass away. im so sorry.
Rest in paradise little budgie
My “Blueberry” named Makani likes to fly onto the back of my shirt and hang upside down. She is crazy. I love it. 🤣
Capri making a heart with her hands to the camera is absolutely adorable and such a little kid thing to do. Super sweet.
Watching this, even though I don't have a bird.
Bruh
You could one day, collecting information on them may come in handy later ^^
Me too, one day I will bring a bird home 😊
'cockatiels tend to be very hand-phobic naturally' meanwhile my cockatiel is terrified of shoulders for some reason but doesn't mind hands at all. Is mine broken? :P
Maybe he's a different kind of bird in disguise 🤔 I'm kidding lol
I think his coding is jumbled up. Try turning him on and off again
man thats a bug from the new update they will covver that in the next patch
@@minmi1865 maybe we should reverse that? Turn him off then on again. Don't want a bird stuck in the off position
My cockatiel doesn’t bite at all from his first day
I don't have a bird and probably won't ever will but I love watching your videos and honestly, its been inspiring to me for training our cats. I target trained them!
Thats awesome a target trained cat 🐈
Am also not a bird owner yet; hopefully one day I will be welcome one home.
@@poppytw583do you have a bird?
I really love how you included Capri and how knowledgeable she is already ! She's gonna be amazing with birds when shes older.
I love when Capri said "also you're a safe spot" that was so cute. What a great teacher
Blueberry´s level of training is my end goal with my two budgies. She´s so cute
Flighted budgies are so much fun! Its a joy hearing a flutter and suddenly you’re hanging out!
Ahhhhhhh, I was waiting for this vid for so long. I needed a bit of guidance on flight training my conure. Also, love blueberry. She is the cutest!!!!
Blueberry is adorable
Our budgie flies in our house and we love it. He has play (fly-time) at least twice a day and has finally started interacting with all of five of us, but he is a shoulder/arm dude. I'm trying to get him more comfortable with hands, but it is taking time.
Thank you, Jamie and Capri (And Blueberry, of course). I've used so many of this points and techniques with my two budgies ever since I got them, and we've had so many successes. As a first time bird owner, I've learnt so much already and we're all learning more every day!
this is EXACTLY the video i’ve been waiting for!!
What a great help Capri was in this vid! 😄❤🐦
Awee so cuteee your daughter seems very smart 🤍🤍 you’re definitely a great mother to her
This helped so much! My budgie Lavender was ill and never learnt to fly so this definitely helped!
My husband and I just got a budgie about a week ago, and she was very scared and fearful of our hands, but using target training helped so much already 😁
We also got her onto fresh food immediately and she took to it so well!
What a wonderful video this is! You and your daughter are great trainers!
Thought it was informative and fun to watch this little budgie who seems to know he/she is center stage, lol. Good job and it's always good to see ms. Capri. Thank you for the upload, see you soon.
Thank you for making this video! I have two budgies and I really want to start flight training them
I like seeing you two together. Thank you for being so honest. Blueberry is a little rocket. Love it. May you all please take care and stay safe.
I have a blue male pacific parrotlet and found that while your videos for the bigger parrots are very helpful and useful , this video resonated even more for my little guy; also I’m super stoked ya’ll are restocking the small bird toy bundle so I may get my hands on one when available 😊
I just want to thank you for doing the videos. It changed the way I look at my bird. Now I know we have stronger bond than pushing it to land on my hand.
Thankyou Capri!!! Well done!! 👍💯👏👏💞
I love when you have your daughter in your videos shes the cutest
This video was so helpful thank you!
I watched a lot of your videos over a year ago and I got a cockatiel and I’ve trained him many tricks in just the first weeks using the advice I’ve seen here
This will be really helpful when I get my cockateil
Thank you !!!💖
Capris is a beautiful little girl, we all learn from her. Thank you 🙏
soooooo thankful for this
good luck!!
@@kelm5610 thank you!!
@@juliaa.4102 no problem!
Do it! I made great progress with my 2 year old GCC. He will sometimes come now. His problem is he nopes out of the training quickly. He wants to be with us. So once he flies over if we just keep putting him back on the perch for food he gets frustrated. He will start crushing up the millet and throwing it just so we can pick him up. He doesn't fully get it yet.
@@wildog47 i COMPLETELY understand. i've only had her since jan 1st and she does understand recall which is great!! she just... only wants to be on me at all times lol - next goal is independence!
Thank you! I started watching your videos about a year ago. I never dreamed that I would get a bird, but loved the content of your channel. I now have a budgie! So grateful to raise my bird from very early in his life. He recalls, goes through a paper towel tube (cut down to about 4") and targets. It really was Capri that made me realize that I could do this properly. Thank you so much, again!
Love your videos! 💛
My daughter loved the video... she has stormy (looks like blueberry). We rehomed and are working on training.
we need a video on how you got blueberry so tame from day one after coming home from the pet store!!!!! love your content
I'm a huge fan of Blueberry. She's so cute, and your daughter picked out possibly the best name for her.
Loved this video! And especially Capri 💕
Great information.
My budgie loves your videos he talks and chirps like crazy when I play your videos. I guess a bird can even tell your a great trainer. 😂
I just ordered my first toy box I’m so excited
Blueberry is so cute and you trained her so well. I like how you mention target training. I use target training for a few of my birds and it works well.
Love your childs personality
I don't even have a bird and have never had one, I just love these videos
all of these videos are helpful thanks for there videos my birds are trained good because i watched these videos
Love your hair !🦜🍁🍂🌈😍🔥 edit: I loved seeing Capri ! She is so pretty I love her hair her pendant and her outfit
I do not have a bird and will never get one just guinea pigs but they are my favourite animal
I just got a parakeet two weeks ago it was very frightened at first. Now boba is so comfortable he loves my hand and shoulder he comes when I call. I didn't have to do no training but I want to get to the point where he comes every time I call. This video is very helpful!
She's so fast running onto your hand! She's so adorable.
I am training 'yes' spaces at mo putting rolls of tree bark where I want my parrot to chew rather than chewing the doorframes 😂
Great advice 😊❤🐦
As a former dog owner who is now considering getting a bird I was just thrilled to see that you're clicker training your budgie! I knew theoretically that it's possible but I've never actually seen or heard of anyone doing it before 😊
Jaimie, you mentioned that it is really important to teach (especially tiny birds) how to ascend and descend with their flight training. But I didn’t really see or hear any specifics on this in the video. Great job, Blue and Capri (and mom, of course)!
Thanks for the helpful videos
Blueberry is sooooo cute !!!!!
I am sooo glad that you made this video Jamie. You explain it so well. This video helped me a lot.
Say hi to blueberry.
1:10 Blueberry's forever cutest moment ever. On camera blueberry even looks like a blueberry. So cut and funny. Hey Jamie great name choice(Blueberry).
yay finally one for the small ones :)
Love all your videos, so thank you. We have a gorgeous 8 year-old green-cheeked conure named Dali, toilet trained and speaks well. I've tried not wing clipping, but he hates it if we go outside without him, is joyful when we go out even to put the rubbish out! He's flown in a circle back to us when startled by a noise, once lifted by wind into a tree, but yelled, "here, here." when I called out hysterically, "Dali where are you?" I'd like to flight train him more, would like to know what is a healthier treat to give him other than sunflower seeds, apple and raw oats I'm presently using. Thanks, Toni.
I really love your training tricks. I have my budgies from last 6 months. I wish I had seen your videos before. Now don’t know where to start from 😢
Early love your channel 💕💕 also my Budgie loves going on the floor 😂
Omg, is berry copying the Galahs sound? that's so cute! My budgie Luna also copies, I am always confused that she sounds like my Pionus parrot 😂
I need to get back on cleaning up that target training, but anyway, at the very least my budgie considers me a safe space, so that's the biggest win you could ask for
This was so helpful thank you!!! What other basic tricks and techniques would you recommend?
ok, so from the info in this, I'm thinking one of my rescues was definitely a wild bird in a former life. Has been stuck in a tiny cage for years, cage open all the time now, mostly stays inside it, but on occasion gets freaked out or otherwise flies & when he does he can hover & absolutely control height & braking.
I was tending towards thinking born a wild bird already because of this, but hearing that if not trained in it they can't do it makes me absolutely convinced he must have had a wild life at some point. I wasn't sure how much was instinct & how much was learnt/practiced. Thanks :)
wow beautiful budgie 💕💕💕
My 8mth old jenday is still growing his wings back, but he is doing amazing at his new short flight training. Still only a few feet, but we started right from day1... To my hand he goes. And "c'mon" is the call for step up and fly to me.
Hi love your vids
I already know how to recall train I'm just watching this for fun 🤣
We got our family a budgie and our 4 year old named him Greenberry (white head,turquoise/yellow) he has a slight wing defeat were it sits higher than the other and has a chipped nostril ,this does not stop him!. He is the sweetest little thing ,Our 8 month old female Starburst feeds both our pearly conure baby Loki and greenberry they love eachother! Both are 9 weeks , came together after a 2 hour drive.
I was just tryna tame my cocktiel we just got him he is 3 months old and im just tryna train him thank you
I needed a about budgies
Where did you get all those tall trees ? Love it .! ❤️
My parrotlet Teddy flew out of our bedroom the other day while I was cooking and my husband was standing in the bedroom doorway for a second too long. We have very high ceilings so he was just soaring through the air all over and we were senselessly trying to raise our hands up as if that would make a difference. We have two cats, they are quite used to our birds but, yeah... they're cats. Thankfully they did not seem to notice a tiny bird flitting around like the snitch in Harry Potter. Anyway, recall is great, we should get it sometime.
I have a Parrotlet as well and recall was the best skill I could have ever trained. I love to open her cage and then call her from across the room. I am going to make an electronic door opener for her and take the fun to a whole new level.
@@-robo- That's awesome! Mine will fly to me but it's not like he's trained or anything lol. He won't step up on my finger though.
@@katmarrs7054 Lilly wasn't too hard to train. I withhold sunflower seeds from her food, and only give them as special treats (bulk, raw, shelled). She goes nuts for them so it is easy to get her to step wherever I want by holding a seed just out of her reach. If I'm holding the seed for her, it takes 3 bites to finish. I also tap my finger next to the seed if I need to get her attention. Now the tapping is a nonverbal come hither. You can PM if you have questions. I'm no expert, but I have experience. Best of luck with your little guy!
Love this! I was trying to figure out flight training for my own budgie and I was having a little trouble. Quick question, I saw there was a video about the geo cage that Blue uses, but I don’t see that video on the channel anymore. Do you no longer recommend it? Currently looking for a new cage for my budgie.
Thank you for the informative general training on small birds Jamieleigh! All thanks to Mikey and Mia I accidently found out about you. God bless you, your family and birds. RIP Bandit cuz you are surely missed.
Lilly, my Parrotlet loves your videos, but feels a little left out. She goes crazy when I play your videos, talking and looking behind the tablet to try and find you. She and I hope you might consider including Parrotlets more in the future.
I've watched this video 20x already, I can't for Kiwi to respond to me this way.
Nice
Why is this video perfect for me becouse im geting a lovebird in a month or so
Woaw I have just come across you videos wish I saw them before. They are awesome. Is it possible to potty train the budgies or this isn't possible. If it is are you able to show us a video on this. If not how do you keep up with all the poop. Your daughter is adorable
I am having some difficulty getting one of my rescue love birds to gently touch the stick. He wants the millet sooo bad that if it doesnt happen fast enough he gets frustrated. Hes also super competitive, he wants the millet before the other birds. So he pushes them out of the way, so rude lol.
My budgies are flight trained. They are so much fun to train!
thx..
How did you flight train ascending and descending? Especially if you’re in a one story home.
hello, where did you guys buy those foraging trees? I live in Europe and I can't seem to find anything similar.
Outstanding. Well Done
dear Jamieleigh. bird can fly that for sure. the most impressive is to make them talk. and the more talking the better.
It was so cute to see Capri in the video as well
I had a tip but this comment was a year ago so how’s it going?
clutch video
Birds are family, too.
Yes, I see.
All right, one.
I soon will be adopting my parakeet and wonder how Blueberry stays away from windows while flying.
Omg yeees thank you so much I have six budgies and it kinda hard to train them cuz I don’t have a training stand so they steal each other’s treats it’s kinda frustrating lol
@blue jay I am planing to but I need a base and all of the stores are closed so I will just wait😭☹️
Ok thank you I will try it😀😀
Maybe six is too many? Perhaps somebody would like one to relieve you financially and physically. All the work involved is tiring.
I freefly my budgie outside almost everyday now
That soooo good!
That scares me... it is dangerous to freefly small birds for MANY reasons. One, they could get lost and you will never find them, also they have really quiet contact calls. Two, they could get eaten by a larger bird. If another bird outside decides to attack it, lets say a hawk, it will not survive. That is why it is not recommended to freefly them.
@@derind9191 a larger bird is a larger Target for a hawk to see and then catch. He is whistle trained so he can hear me from more than mile away. Also the Hawk that is territorial of my farm is primarily interested in the abundance of squirrels and if she runs out of those I have free-ranging chickens that are probably next on her list but she has never taken one. The budgerigar has 65,000,000 million years of experience to rely on when spotting and out maneuvering birds of prey and is also too small to make a meal out of...compared to rabbits squirrels pigeons doves Etc.
@@perfectweather i have heard many horror stories of birds of prey attacking free flighted budgies/
You may well have great recall, and “think”that the predator risk is minimal(birds of prey aren’t the only predators btw. Mynahs, magpies or crows will kill small birds. Dogs, cats, rats snakes and large lizards, and depending on where you live most small mammals will also take small birds), however you can’t control the weather. A sudden wind gust can blow a little bird like a budgie way, WAY off course. It can also slam it into a wall or window and severely injure if not outright kill it. It’s your bird but I’m a motorcyclist too, and I don’t think these things equate to the scare stories about bikes at all, but the risk is yours. Thing is it’s all good, till it’s not.
instead of my budgies being hand fobic there shoulder fobic so they just come to my hand naturally since there more comfortable on my hand or palm. my budgies are clipped at the moment because they where clipped when i got them but i found a tail feather and... a WING FEATHER today on the table where they had been preening so YAY they will hopefully be getting some non clipped flight feathers coming in sooner or later!!!
I love all the fake trees for Blueberry. I want to get one.
Foraging trees
How many birds do you actually own (not rescues) can you do a new video of your flock please? I'd love to see all your birds. Thank you. We dong have anyone in uk, like parrit wizzard and yourself, training perches are hard to find too x
I would like to know where those tree stands come from🤩
Hi I’ve got a question I’ve had my budgie for 3 months now and she only flies on top of the cupboards and curtain rail (high places), I’ve taught her to step up and down on my hand using millet but only when she is around her cage, but when she leaves it she won’t come near the lower surfaces or me. I try using millet to lure but she backs away from it when she is high up. Any tips on getting her to come to me while she is free flying or to even get her to come lower down on the surfaces? Thank you for your videos so helpful.
does anyone have a suggestion for a good play stand? I have two budgies and I'm thinking of getting one.
Can you create a video about the process of creating Yes and No spaces ? How do prevent them from going to specific places. My lovebird keeps wanting to go my closet and just keep removing and putting im back on his play gym but he is very determined. lol
wot treat do we give cockatiels while training to land on the hand?
I feel like this really showcases blueberrys skills but I’m struggling on how to initially teach the safe spaces. Do I just place the bird there and reward? And reward when he chooses to fly there?
What kind of rope do you use to help your new (pet store clipped) budgie ascend?
I just recently got two budgies but they weren’t doing to well and i felt rlly bad so I had to return them
