Good video, Chris. However, I don't spend enough time in my room when I travel to justify $500-$600 per night for a hotel. And, not that there's anything wrong with Oceanside necessarily, but when I head south from L.A., as I will next month for TwitchCon, I stay in San Diego because - well - it's San Diego. Great views, amazing food and that cool San Diego vibe!
The price for the room is a tad bit high for the room in my opinion, but what really keeps me from staying at these hotels is the nickel and diming for resort fees and valet only/parking fees.
I've been looking forward to seeing this video since you mentioned it in the last livestream! I similarly enjoy taking short weekend trips to places that are just a drive away!!!
The number 1 hotel in the Continental U.S.? That is crazy considering there are so many amazing hotels in the U.S. Who did they bride? Lol!! Also, the sunset views you shot were absolutely gorgeous.
Great video. Nice looking hotel but way too pricey for me..We love oceanside and usually stay at north coast village. Perfect location to walk anywhere and the beach seems alot less busy being at the end.
I was today years old when I learned how Topher got his name! I stayed here earlier this year and off peak rate was only 20k Hyatt points a night with resort fee waived. Globalists get a nice breakfast credit at the restaurant over at Seabird. I enjoyed the stay alot and agree with the 4.5 Tophers.
Chris + Topher = Christopher 😀... in the early days of the channel I used to have a little graphic with that equation on it that I'd use. Thanks for the info on the offpeak Hyatt rates and the brekkie at the Sea Bird. It is interesting that they make you walk across the street for brekkie 😀
Enyoyed the video! Maybe not a "base" for visiting San Diego; but a good for visiting North County ... Oceanside to Encinitas. Especially on a 2 night stay. Oceanside not a "night life" destination anyway -- so the rough stuff you said -- easy to avoid🙂
Although the amenities offered were plentiful I cannot see the value of $500 a night(not including resort fees, valet parking, etc) stay. Especially as an out of town traveler this property would require a hefty budget. This looks like at most a $250 - $350 night resort. All in all I still enjoyed this review, and especially the Curious Princess!💛😃
Hi Joyce. I do think they are definitely targeting the Los Angeles based drive in traveler.. as there's some math of "well if I don't have to fly anywhere I can spend some more on the hotel." And I think it does get down to $300 like midweek in October.. of course then there's still a resort fee and valet parking fee. So not really 😕
Chris, have you ever taken the train from OC to San Diego? It's a great ride. That would be a nice option from having to pay $50 per night for valet parking.
Hi Bill... sure have! It's a really scenic ride.. I just wish it was more on time.. we've been delayed so many times that we've pretty much sworn off Amtrak for good
Did you stay at the Seabird too? If i do decide to stay i have enough hyatt points for two nights - but Im wondering if i should stay one night at each place or two nights at one. Are a lot of the benefits shared? Areas like the parking, the beach amenities, etc? I think i can earn another free night stay by staying at both because they are under different Hotel labels. Were any of the hotel amenities complimentary to keep (the bag, slippers, etc?)
Way too pricey I like that 150-178 rang I we love to stay at the one place you always frown on which is the courtyard by Marriott…. We like them “ we’re coming from staying always at a motel 6 in El Cajon ” so a courtyard is a huge improvement
It's been years since I stopped in Oceanside. You're right, it was rough around the edges. It's proximity to Camp Pendleton doesn't help. However, the train station is a plus for us. We love taking the train from LA Union. We have a metrolink station 6 blocks away, so it's easy to spend the day in San Diego without traffic worries. Maybe it's time for another look. Thanks so much for all the travel information you provide.
So you spent over $1,000 (valet parking, resort fee, etc.) on a hotel for 2 days in Oceanside? Emphasis on Oceanside.😁 I'm jaded, not a big fan of CA beach towns.😂
I don’t like watching your videos anymore your kids getting to bud and animated it takes away from the videos which are not really anything we care about anyway plus you have constant interruptions!
Great video 😎🌴 Your baby doll is precious 🥰
Awww
Great review! I work in Oceanside, and your review of the surrounding areas of the hotel are accurate 😊
Thanks so much for the validation 😀
Thank you for the video, Chris!
Beautiful and fun hotel but I agree with the other commenters - American hotels have gotten outrageously expensive. Glad you had a nice stay!
Thanks Doc! 😀
The distance to the beach and the Rambler with the complementary umbrella and chairs are the best!
Agreed!
Thanks for the info + video!

Enjoy Twitchcon reed!
Wow, a great weekend getaway from me in AV, CA. Thank you!

Hi Chris. Thanks for the video. Very nice hotel with great beach access. The price is pretty steep for me. Thanks for sharing and taker care.
Thanks James! It's much cheaper in the winter... Definitely a premium price on a summer weekend

Hah! This was a voter's choice ranking thing.. but yes. The Sunset was really great that evening J

Generally rates drop after Labor Day through early Nov as well as mid-week. Agree; pricey; "new property" factor. Time will tell if it sticks😉
I really like the Seabird next door! Will definitely add this to my bucket list! Can't beat the location!
Awesome LK!
Great video! I think we can refer to flat panel TVs as just TVs at this point 👊
Good point! TV it is!
I love the Rooftop Bar at Mission Pacific 🍹
The rooftop bar is really cool! And it's an awesome views

I’m all about luxury- but this hotel price ain’t it ! Great video Chris 🎉 👏
Thanks Janelle 😀
Thanks Chris and Princess.
Thanks Eric!

Nice video.
We’ve only stayed at Mission Pacific in the past (canceled our Seabird trip this year) and went to Legoland! It’s as if you’ve described our trip! 😂
Hah... right on
Thanks!
Nicey but PRICY! Costs as much as the Ritz! I'm thinking $200 is reasonable
But you get access to the $30 box of doughnuts.
Hah
First comment, first time!!! :) Who cares, you would say~~ I do.
Wow! Wasn’t aware we had a “Best in USA” place…dont get to head up into Oceanside too often..
Now we do :)

This hotel is perfectly designed for visitors coming in by train. You can easily pack light if you stay in this hotel. They provide everything.
Definitely is!

Derogatory remark about MCB Camp Pendleton.
@@andrek1709 I concur.
What are some nice hotels that won't break the $160-200 a night range?
get ready for a ton of marines to be there
Did they move the Top Gun house there or was it always there? I remember it not being in a busy area. It was moved but only a block.
They moved it here
How do you cross the busy street? Crosswalks there? Didn't see any.
There are indeed crosswalks there
What a joyous and fun co-host, the curious princess is growing so fast! Super nice hotel, thanks for staying for us and sharing such great info!
Thank you so much 🤗
We longer travel to the US.
Those beds look narrow.
Normal queen size beds

Yes. And we had a great time. And it was half the price of the Disney Cruise we did to Ensenada 😀
Definitely too pricy for this hotel
I'd trust any hotel reviews co-hosted by the Curious Princess
Awww

I enjoy it. If I’m ever a father, it’s good to know my vacations will still be fun.
This may be the saddest comment I have ever seen on youtube...
@@SomeLazyDr vacations with kids are very different but in my opinion they are way more fun.
Ugh I also find this statement so sad. I think the Princess is absolutely adorable and I love seeing what a great father Chris is to her.
