Do you guys not take science class in elementary school? The reason it’s exploded is you only filled highly flammable alcohol less than half the jar. And you left that until the wick absorbed alcohol perhaps? Then lighted it up. The alcohol evaporated within the jar while you waited in half empty jar that’s why it’s exploded as that evaporated alcohol air is extremely flammable. The thing with alcohol lamps is for safety measure you have to always fill more than half like 80% of the jar max capacity FRESH every time or you risk explosion like that. You’re also not supposed to leave half empty alcohol lamp then lighted up. Dangerous.

It's not an accident. There was oxygen which supports combustion in the jar with alcohol was poured in and combustion requires oxygen and fuel.
So after the first explosion the oxygen also gets depleted filling the jar with only alcohol which can't combust on its own. So it travels to the wick where oxygen is present in the atmosphere and combusts there
Under controlled conditions this is perfectly safe

You neither explain why it happens nor how to avoid it, so this is not really useful beyond letting you know there is actually a danger.

Have you thought of the possibility that he doesn’t know why? If he knew why it happened he wouldn’t have had an accident like that. Try to think logically.
