Thanks Phil . I just got into my first truck with TA today! Yay! I couldn't access your video on Qualcomm for some reason. Will my truck start if the battery gets low? Trying to keep my fuel usage to a minimum so trying not to use opti idle. Besides it wakes me up. Scares the bejeezes out of me every time.
hello Cynthia, the truck will only start automatically when your batteries get low IF the Opti idle is engaged. To minimize the shaking of the Opti idle, leave the jake brake on the low setting before you go to bed. How do you get these new freightliners in idle mode like you said in the beginning of your video? I just come out of a 2000 Freightliner classic and it has none of this garbage... I have a 2017 cascadia
hello Sherod, couple ideas: 1. Make sure you are using Opti Idle along with the Espar heater. if you don't have the key in the 'on' position, the heater will only run for 10 min, them time out. 2. you may have a fault with the Espar heater: make sure the intake under the bunk is free and clear otherwise it will overheat. if you are still having problems, take it to a shop for troubleshooting. hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions. thanks, Phill
I have a 17 freightliner with that opti idle stuff and the espar heater but I'm clueless on how to use it and if it blows cold air as well as hot air for the summer months don't want to keep idling the truck all night
hey, the Espar heater is only for heat in the winter. If it's still blowing cold air after about five minutes of operation, you have an internal problem, take it to a shop for repair, thank you

@@phillreynolds9015where that fuse is located it’s getting cold 🥶 I do have 2017 Freightliner cascadia also I got the opti idle instructions on my top of sun blocker also in the bak of bunk I got that system mounted with opti idle you Mentioned on summer time and also the heater but I don’t have that espar with screen but other controller with options cold and heat I also try it when my truck is running it’s blowing heat but I can’t do I it like you showed as opti idle
He boss I follow the instructions to optimize idle and it won’t engage what I’m doing wrong or what can look for to see it’s good is there a fuse or relay I should look at thank you

Hello, thanks for the question. I would try to set the temperature on the Espar bunk heater control to 68 degrees. If you set it to 68 degrees and it is still too hot, have one of our maintenance shops take a look at it. There is a chance the temperature sensor has failed and not allowing the heater to turn off. thanks
Hey Jonas, there is not default run time on the Espar bunk heater. Try enabling Opti Idle along with the Espar, this will keep the heater running as long as you need it to. if that does not work, your heater may need repair. make sure the heater intake and exhaust tubes are clear of stuff. Sometimes your gear will get too close causing it to overheat or a blockage of one of the hoses.
My company said turn the key all the way to the left and you can operate the bunk heater, but I'm worried it will drain the battery I don't think the owner knows what he's talking about

hey, if you don't have the Espar button, you prob don't have an Espar heater. not all trucks came with this option.
Mine will only stay on if my headlights or my dome light is on. Is that normal or is there something wrong with the wiring?

hello, all Transport America trucks come with this type of heater, yes. if the screen doesn't come on, perhaps you have a blown fuse.

hey, there could be a number of things wrong with your Opti idle, take to a shop for further inspection. thank you

I set mine to 72 degrees, but it keeps getting hotter and hotter. It practically never shuts off. What am I doing wrong?

My runtime is defaulted to 10 minutes.p how do you get it to run through the night without having to wake up and turn it on periodically

hey, most likely, your Espar heater needs rebuilt and possibly a new glow pin installed. Take it to a shop for repair.

hey, similar, but you won't turn on the heater. the front controls must be on to have the rear controls to work. hope that helps.

Let it idle, if it won't idle on its own because of a shut-off sensor, set cruise control with RPMs above 2
