This was the first Dollop my husband & I ever listened to. We’d just been to Mammoth Cave back in July of 2019 and & wanted to know more about Floyd Collins. We weren’t sure what to think of it, but once we got to Homer’s bit at 25:55, we were full on gut laughing & have been hooked ever since. The phrase “...cannot DO!” (23:56) and “Super weird” are now part of our daily vernacular!
Learned about this show just over a year ago. I have listened to every episode available and I just learned that you have a RUclips channel. I’m super excited to watch you do your podcast. As for the live shows, it would be awesome if you were able to video record those as well, you two are fantastic!!!!
Fun fact about limestone, once it's heated to a certain temperature, it is compromised and becomes easily breakable...many old buildings in Kansas are made of limestone blocks, and if they ever have a building fire those buildings are required to be razed for safety reasons...
I love how something in every episode triggers something. Around 1hr 10 the word "Carnival" comes up and a light bulb goes on - wasn't this a film "The Big Carnival" ("Ace in the Hole") about a reporter and a guy in a cave ? Well, yes and no, that was the film I was thinking of, and the details are so similar that Billy Wilder was sued for plagiarism by a guy who had proposed a story based on Floyd's experience.
I had a really good time listening to this podcast! But please check the audio, I had to turn the volume up to hear the guy narrating and then when the other guy would charm in it was like he was screaming right into my ear. Outside of that I really loved it!
wait wait.... hold up, you have to record what your talking about to make it a podcast.... I've been going around just podcasting to people... now i look silly.
Uh oh, came here after the hbomberguy video. Turns out you guys also plagiarized the infamous article on Floyd Collin’s. What a shame. Why no credit? Why read it word for word..? Comedians understand plagiarism right? Lol
this was addressed already, this episode is old. for years now the dollop has had a dedicated website just for sources. while i agree it would have been right to credit the author in the episode itself (which dave now does at the end of each episode), i do believe it was an honest mistake and not done with any ill intent. the dollop is a great podcast, if you enjoyed it at all i recommend you keep listening! some personal favourites are the 2 parter on ronald reagan with patton oswalt, the birth of porn (live w/ wil anderson), the dolphin, phyllis schlafly, the cereal men (also with patton)
ive heard the notion that supposed the idea for this podcast is hijacked from some other unknown comedians and could give two fucks...everything is derivative... i became a fan of daves from watching maron and became a fan of garys from finding this podcast...its awesome you have this format to work off that seems half way effortless because you can just read a bit from history and riff on it...love the live dollups necro pants gave me great belly laughs on the clock
This method of advertising SUX!!!!! Surely there's a better way than delivering scripted dribble for 11min at the start of the show. Other than that, awesome
10:58 friends :)
Much obliged.

The good bit starts at 00:00 and ends at 01:30:40
The unoriginality of RUclips comments. 🤮
+Eric Erickson
The negativity of SOME RUclips comments...
1:30:41 was a pretty dissapointing bit, I agree
You must be new here, they never start at 0
He says "an hour" at exactly 1:00:00
I am SO HAPPY this is on YT, i was dying to see the photos and live banter. Huzzah! Yes, i said huzzah.
I always love watching the video version :)

The analogy at the end was great.
One of the best! This episode was so engaging.
I struggled through this... still an amazing episode.
The toughest -Aaron
Oh fucking hell. This is literally a nightmare. I'm honestly getting freaked out and anxious just listening to this...
Right there with ya. -Aaron
This podcast is amazing.
DATE CALLED OUT @ 10:55
best intro song lead-up cue in dollop history. Well done lads.
Floyd Collins was my partner's cousin, so its interesting to hear an episode about him.
always get fixated on that bill burr poster that looks like hes in the middle of some kind of slur.

I was thinking the same thing. It's definitely the same story, whether or not Wilder knew about it.
Ethan, my husband, who knows more about movies than most, told me that Floyd is mentioned in the film.
Gareths shirt is terrific

Black Stone Cherry has a song about what happened called "The Ghost of Floyd Collins"
That's the only reason I clicked on this poscast
I haven't had this much anxiety in a looooong time
I love this fucking podcast you labradoodle daddies
Dave says "reigning monarch" at 51:53, shout out Greg Beherendt
Aww poor floyd
Limestone does indeed burn at about 900 degrees and releases carbon dioxide when it does.
SCIENCE!
I release carbon dioxide every time I exhale.
wait wait.... hold up, you have to record what your talking about to make it a podcast.... I've been going around just podcasting to people... now i look silly.
The good old days. You know, with 6 year old spelunkers and stuff
Floyd must also have been pissing and shitting. Skeets is a boss.
Somehow you made this situation worse for me. -Aaron
What became of his shoes?
Juke owner? I didn't know Dave was blind.
Sooo...what would have been a good method of removing Floyd from the cave in that time? In modern time?
Thoughts and prayers?
@@atc makes you wonder if Floyd knew that there was no way of saving him 😓
The author of the book " trapped " gave an interview detailing this ,its on utube 😊

16:25 the one part of this episode that bothers me. Stalactites are tight against the ceiling and you might trip over a stalagmite.
He quickly corrects it
@@anti-skub2164 He then corrects the correction back to being wrong.
Stalagmites might reach the roof :(
@@queer_dreams_of_soothing_r9641 we call those "pillars"
stalactites have C for ceiling and stalagmite has G for ground. simple.
Cool video
24:18 😂
that thing @10:56 is so funny.
14:10 Okave
Turn Dave's mic up a little and turn Gareth's down some i think my ear drums just bust
Damn these are wise words 1:25:18

Sounds like the Nutty Putty Cave 😬

No
It's drivel, not dribble.
As opposed to… in the middle randomly how everyone else does it? I’d rather know it’s right there and be able to skip it dude.
What's with the screaming into the freakin mic?!
try turning the volume down
The second Dollop/HBomberguy intersection. yltsi
