  • Here is go pro footage of the popular Norton Summit TT on Saturday mornings in Adelaide. This is a great fitness test to see where you stand in comparison to other really strong riders. It is also very fun and everyone regroups at the top for a chat afterwards.

    Nice video. I'm pink jersey black shorts towards the end of the video, fighting like hell to hang on. PR for me so glad you caught it on video. Love the Supers ride and the cycling scene in Adelaide, we're lucky. Lots of fit dudes here, standard is nuts. Mark.

    • @LanterneRougeCycling
      @LanterneRougeCycling  7 лет назад +4

      +Briony Greenwood Well done on the PR, was a killer TT. Cycling scene is insane in Adelaide, the two week taste I got of it has me wanting to come back. Being around so many hitters and groups pumping the hills just makes one's fitness rise by osmosis

    • @markgreenwood9343
      @markgreenwood9343 7 лет назад +1

      It's killer like that every Saturday. This morning the lead guys went sub-13 minutes. I got shelled, LOL!! When it's that quick the group splinters and its harder (for mere mortals) to do a good time. The week you were there the pace was good.

      Lanterne Rouge As an Adelaidean cyclist i must say our road surfaces are crap and need major work. Yes we have hill climbs close to the cbd but interstate roads are much better quality. I just got back from Asia band their road quality is better.

    • @LanterneRougeCycling
      @LanterneRougeCycling  7 лет назад

      glenny oc yes I have to agree with you there. It is mostly a problem on descents because there are very few in Adelaide which don't have gravel/gumnuts or potholes throughout. Montacute is probably the best one, whereas cootha back descent in brisbane in pristine tarmac and usually v clean.
      You may have seen I just got back from Japan (not cycling though) do you have any recommendations for good places to ride there?

    • @glennoc8585
      @glennoc8585 7 лет назад

      Lanterne Rouge So Many good rides in Japan. A lot of guy get the train out to.the country areas The train to nakano is a good start. If you have a router or mtb then up.north to Hokkaido in spring to Autumn. A guy on RUclips has some day trip tides from Tokyo. I'm just reading bicycling Australia and there is a good article on how awesome Taiwan.is. some he'll.climbs, surprised Duianrider hasn't gone over.

    Great vid with excellent commentary as usual ! Great job on the climb given you don't know it so well. During summer, my 15mins max power is in the 370-380w bracket on a good day (with FTP around 340-350w @ 75kg, 172cm). Power is currently around 30w lower, as it's winter here in the UK, so only just starting to do some Sweet Spot intervals again (which seem absolutely horrible after a couple of months of easier sessions !). BTW, I might be wrong, but I personally never got the impression Cycling Maven was being condescending regarding his "Vegan Corner" comment (and he seems to be a part-time vegan himself). Keep up the good work mate !!

    I knew a bloke who could go under two hours for the 50 mile time trial, and very nearly managed 7w per kg on the ramp test. The problem was that he did this by riding mega miles and doing nothing else. He looked exactly like one of the POWs on the Burma railway. 62kg and over six feet tall. He could drop you like a bad habit up a hill - and, thinking about, on the flat as well - but if you aren't actually going to make money out of it who would want to walk about looking like that?

    From lean cuisine who towed you to the line, well done on the pr. I did actually start at the front of that group at the bottom but couldn't hold it at the end.

      Mr lean cuisine dropped you at the end if you held his wheel you would go sub 14

  • @craigpavia2169

    No excuses needed, -5watts from tire swap wasn’t gonna save you; that’s a strong group for sure. One thing, on sweeping turns I’d NEVER recommend overlapping wheels unless you know the rider in front, turns can often “pop” riders which will lead them to pull into your wheel/lane.

    Bullshit aside, that’s a great effort. At least you are able to pick apart where you went wrong. I’m a looong way off this sort of pace. Just keep pedalling my man!

    • @LanterneRougeCycling
      @LanterneRougeCycling  7 лет назад

      Steven Hay probably a bit short, would only be 5 mins 30-6 mins with a decent group having a go

      Lanterne Rouge sure thing. is there one that happens in Brisbane?

    • @LanterneRougeCycling
      @LanterneRougeCycling  7 лет назад

      +Steven Hay not that I know of. I know clubs do Nebo TTs etc. Settlement road petrol station to mcafees lookout would be good. my personal choice would be cootha from the planetarium to the top of the back, but it's steep and not a gradual climb so it would split up early

    Obviously this post is really old, but wouldn’t you want to be able to do a sub 14minute time with out assistance? I’m always looking at my friends rides and seeing their times, then I realise they were in a group of like 20ppl. You gotta be able to push yourself past your limits.

      Andy Rowland climbing is the quickest way to get good at climbing which is both a blessing and a curse. What gearing do you have?

    • @andyrowland5294
      @andyrowland5294 7 лет назад

      On a caad10 10sp 30 back but standard crank. 39 little need a compact asap!

    • @LanterneRougeCycling
      @LanterneRougeCycling  7 лет назад +1

      Andy Rowland any loop you do west of the north side should be very rolly without any long climbs like cootha. That sort of undulating terrain gets you fit fast. Eatons hill/Samford loop is hard af but you can do it with that gearing
