I have a 2007 M35 that kept draining my newer battery. Nothing worked properly including the key fobs. One night I was in my garage and I heard the fan go on from the car in the driveway. The car hadn't been driven in almost 2 days so there was no reason for the cooling fans to come on. Turns out it was the sensor attached to the radiator between the fans that was the culprit all along. It would drain the battery overnight and then created more issues with key fobs not working or even not recognizing them at all (and yes I replaced the fob batteries as well). If this problem sounds familiar, try this simple $50 fix. Easy for anyone to do yourself.

A friend's mom's Chrysler Cordoba would drain its battery overnight. Early one dewy morning we noticed that there was very little dew on the trunk lid while the rest of the car was covered with water droplets. The trunk light had been staying on and running the battery down. I removed the bulb and that solved the problem.

I had a BMW, it was trying to send hot coolant for the driver's heating zone while I slept. After it killed the battery the remote entry and key wouldn't open the driver's door, but the key opened the passenger door. Very naughty cars, many owners can't get into their BMW's every day.

I have a G35 that drained batteries as fast as you could charge them. Water had gotten through the firewall due to drains clogged and a seal being loose and leaked on the Body Control module, which responded by shorting the microcontroller and turning on random circuits such as lights, defrost heater etc.

I owned a 1986.5 Supra that couldn't pass smog because of a check engine light code: The code referred to the oil sending unit according to a mechanic I no longer see: He replaced it, but the code came back within an hour of driving. I then took it to a local Buick dealership because someone referred me to his young mechanic friend: He simply cleaned the mass fuel air sensor and the check engine light finally went off and stayed off! So much for the engine code accuracy which made me replace a perfectly good oil sending unit when the the mass air fuel sensor just needed to be cleaned! And the young Buick mechanic didn't charge me anything!

4Runners have a rear window that rolls down. The exhaust tailpipe on a 4runner is also at the right rear of the vehicle. Under heavy acceleration with the rear window down the exhaust funnels back inside of the vehicle and you will smell it every time the window is down. I’m on my 4th 4Runner now. On this current 4Runner that I own I installed an aftermarket exhaust system and now dump the exhaust tailpipe out from underneath the vehicle at the rear axle. It’s better for ground clearance when 4wheeling and when I now have the rear window down I get no bad smells under heavy acceleration.

Great video! I will say on an oil change, one of the rewards programs with a certain auto parts store makes an oil change special cost pretty much the same as buying the oil at Walmart. The first time is a few dollars more, but after that, you get reward coupons that bring it down to the same price and usually the oil itself is newer than what you find at Walmart. Plus you get to choose your filter and also can get a discount at a Shell gas station too.

Valvoline and Castrol are probably the best reasonably priced popular oils.... I saw a SuperTech Synthetic fan comment and I bet Costco's Synthetic would be good too---both very reasonable..... i am just not going to spend a lot of extra $ for what is referenced as "top of the line" oils.. A mechanic friend told me many years ago that even with conventional oill back then, an off brand you find at Family Dollar will hold its viscosity to at least 6000 miles.... The synthetics are slicker and way better oils of course but this whole oil thing might be a sham---thank goodness synthetics have gotten cheaper...... The key is changing it at frequent enough intervals... I do 5K miles on my 4 cylinder Corolla (4 quarts)... If I had a car of 5 or more quarts I might go 6K miles since I use synthetic Valvoline... Pick your strategy and stick with it...

Scotty, the clue re the windows being down to get the sulphur smell.....
I had that with a 4wd...it was the front diff breather giving off the high sulphur smell from the 85w/140 diff oil....
and the smell wafted along and was sucked up through the ageing foam seal area around the gearshift/parking brake lever.
With the windows down a vacuum was created inside the car and this drew the smell from under the car.
Solution was to close the windows, set the air intake to fresh air and the fan speed to at least 1...to pressurise the cabin...
    No smell any more....
There may be a leaking rear door/hatch seal on the much more modern Honda and the vacuum in the cabin may be drawing in exhaust fumes..

They stop spray/water splashing up from the wheels plus sticks/stones/mud into the engine compartment...
and can also stop deeper water surging up into the engine compartment if you strike a deeper flood of water...
