Hey Koa, big fan. I must say it is nice to hear even YOU say that you have to really paddle for the waves out here. I've learned to surf on the east coast and it has always been tough out there. Just this past weekend I was surfing Flagler beach and a wave snapped my new board. Crazy stuff. Keep living the dream! YEWWWWWW

I grew up surfing Wrightsville and Carolina Beach. That's my old stomping ground....good times! Crystal Pier and C-Street. Now I stay in Honolulu, living the dream. Welcome to the East Coast Koa! The waves are not as strong as Hawaii, but the paddle out is short and there is no reef to cut your feet on, so that is a bonus. It can get really fun a decent swell. Hope you got some good ones! Check out Chops or Indochine for some good grindz in Wilmington. Aloha

THIS COULD BE..... The last swell
A few years ago a buddy and I were taking a trip to Miami from Southern California. Our one lay over was supposed to be in Baltimore. Half way through the flight I noticed on the flight tracker thing that the plane had just been flying in a big circle... then the pilot comes on telling us that the control tower in Baltimore was hit with lightening and if they didn't get communication back up soon that we'd have to land in Philly. We ended up having to land in Philly. Then finally Baltimore got back up and running so we all load back into the plane and fly into BWI. Once there, it was a MAD HOUSE. Flights from all over were stacking on top of each other. It was so crazy and such long lines of people that we couldn't even reroute til the next morning and had to sleep in the terminal at Baltimore. Finally we made it to Florida and the trip ended up being rad despite some other weird/wild situations, but I'll never forget that night sleeping in the airport.
Koa is a good sport and a good ambassador for surfing.

You need to go to the outer banks. I was stationed (USCG) there 76-78. Being from Hawaii and a surfer, caught some pretty good waves.

If you havent made it yet, try the state of Virginia near Chincoteague. Wild ponies, small little towns, similar surf.

Cool video different place out of the ordinary, liking it almost like the travel channel, but a local boy taking us on tour. Although we all like exotic locations these places are just as interesting especially since its a vlog.
