This is a very special Porsche Cayman by renowned Porsche enthusiast shop Road Scholars in North Carolina. It features an all-metal wide body with a GT3 front clip, but to look further reveals that every single body panel has been changed. Under the rear decklid sits a 4.2L stroker flat-six making an estimated 400 HP at the rear wheels. There are interior details too numerous to count, and the overall package is incredibly appealing, but to drive it is to really experience how wonderfully balanced this Cayman is.

"The engine is still being broken in; it only has 800 miles on it."
*takes it out to redline immediately*
HAHAHAHA good point LOL
Going to the same exact thing.
Proper break in needs to see full load! Modern engines being babied during break in is a waste of time
(especially from the factory since they are almost broken in already how tight they are) and possibly preventing proper piston ring seating.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the account password. I would love any help you can give me
@Ledger Erik instablaster :)
The Cayman of my dreams, love the build.
Love the fact that it's naturally aspirated! Beautiful interior and exterior. Absolutely a dream car
"middle six figures...150,000"
was waiting for the middle six figures, like 500,000.
Before that video kicks off, that is one sick looking Cayman! The wide body/ruby red/golden rims combination is as as sharp as fxxx!
Naturally Aspirated with 400 hp!!!! how could you go wrong? That on demand power is beautiful
damn! 6 cylinders are truly the sound of motorsport!
The exhaust on this car sounds amazing. I would only drive this car for fun. Even without being in the car the experience was amazing.
Those fly bys are glorious . That beautiful Porsche sound
The cayman is my favorite car and has been since 2006. I remember when you were reviewing the stock ones and wasnt impressed, I was sad but i still want one lol
13:23-13:30 is Matt's greatest moment ever.
hitting that bump right in front of the owners .... man that was too good hahahahaha
OMG. What a piece of machinery. And that exhaust noise? Well done Road Scholars.
Good heavens thats one of the best looking Porsche iv ever seen rims n exterior
Your video reminded me of my long lost 2009 Boxster S. I was thinking of changing the exhaust of my Boxster. I informed the wife and she suggested I buy a new Porsche. That resulted in me buying a near new GT4. I just put that car away for the winter. It will be back on the road mid March. I can't wait to get her back on the road. 375 HP is nice. Maybe I'll drive down to Tee Spring and check out their shop. Thanks for your review.
That is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen...
One of the best One-Takes in awhile, awesome review
"Thank you to Road Scholars".... _CRUNCH_ ... (ʘ_ʘ)
hahahahahahahaha perfect timing
The Last Honk I’ve never laughed so hard at a RUclips comment 😂 The little face sent me!
Beautiful colour combination, both inside and out
The Cayman (any of the flat sixes) is one of my dream cars
Gotta love that this shop is 3 minutes away from me :) The car is so much cooler in person I can promise everyone that.
Very nice build. Love the NA aspect of it!
This has got to be one of the most beautiful creations ever reviewed by Matt.
Matt, I love the cut at 5:11 where you're stuck behind the truck, it cuts to a WOT fly by, and back to being stuck behind the truck 😁😁
All kidding aside, I love this damn car.
Wow. What a stunningly beautiful car. And boy, oh boy. Do I, and everybody else, miss that engine note, on the newer Cayman.
Whoa, great video. That porsche is awesome!
Thanks Matt !
Very fun watching you enjoying yourself and all the while presenting YOUR HONEST commentary !
Sincerely , FANTASTIC !
I apologize for not commenting before, Big Dude !
Cheers ! & Cheers again !
Ha !
I think it was cool to have a small part dedicated to the sounds of the car, thanks!
Now this is something I have been thinking about, ever since I got my 986 Boxster, if it could be done, now that I have seen something similar having been done, I'm relieved.
Matt, the Cayman videos never end! And I love you for it!
I was Lucky enough to see this car a couple of times up close in person, in my very own neighborhood in Miami at that! Those RoadScholar guys are on their shit 👌🏼
Love the front end! sounds just like my friends M3 E46
no BMW sounds as good as a Porsche, I love both brands.
IMO S54 m3 with the right exhaust sounds better, more metallic mechanical rasp.
Matt, the look on your face driving this car is priceless!! I want one for real!! Thanks for the trip, I almost felt like I was there with ya ;)
That car sounds absolutely AWESOME!
Nicely done. Gee that paint shows up so sweet in the showroom.
I love the manual trans the tan interior and the gold Lamborghini Huracan wheels.
Open valves sounds sooooo good! great review Matt, thanks
Holy smokes, that Porsche is insane!! :O
thats a hard ass ride because those roads down south are like glass. especially compared to the roads here in southeast michigan
First impression was that this was an over-the-top build, but it comes together really nice once you get to know it.
Once it's tuned that thing will be a monster!
this is the coolest cayman i have ever seen!
awesome color combo. Best cayman I had ever seen.
Best Cayman to date IMO, would love if they gave the Cayman GTS this much power.
That exposed gear lever linkage is beautiful
Hah... been watching your One Take episodes for a while now, so used to seeing canyon carving in Cali. Boy was I shocked when I noticed you guys were just minutes from where I grew up near Falls Lake! Driven around there many times, fun roads but not the best surface. Was around 20 years ago that the 2nd road you were down was actually still a dirt road...
This car is beautiful, and clearly built for pure driving pleasure. Great stuff!
Love the looks of the car. The body, the color, and those gorgeous gold wheels. Love it. Super sweet ride.
First sales pitch I've watched in a while!
Like!
wow that red with gold gives it a very Alfa 4C style
Damn what a beautiful car. Best looking Porsche since I don't know when. Black would have looked way better than red with those rims though.
One recommendation to the guys at Road Scholars would be the dressing around the shifter. Try to duplicate the metal mesh on top of the gauge pod to encompass the shifter. It would hide the factory boot removal mounting nicely; while complimenting the other piece. Great build guys
One Takes should continue for videos like this.
Absolutely one of the sickest cars I've ever laid my eyes on...👀
What a awesome build. Beautiful car!
Goodness! That car is gorgeous to look at!
@thesmokingtire best Matt one liners in a while!!
It`s a shame it lacks that high pitch sound on higher revs that the GT3 engine makes. Kinda disappointed by the noise.
You think it's because of the exhaust setup? Cuz this has a bigger L than the gt3 right?
Doesn't rev as high. It's a stroker.
Matt im a lover of watches and im sure a ton of your subscribers are too, could you please do videos on your watch collection? Loving the Rolex BLNR!
Michael Moss check out his podcast. The recent one with Weiss.
Or his Instagram
Yeah, unfortunately his IG is choc full of watches. You'll be super happy with it.
Recommended this video out-of-the-blue and previously had no idea you had been out in NC before! The roads around here are extremely fast but bumpy as hell, definitely not ideal for a car like this with Cup Car suspension. It would be cool to see you come out and do another NC one-take though! Maybe give the RS guys a call again, they've got some even crazier stuff now that would be awesome to see on the channel.
Jesus Matt, you had that thing pinned for the first 30 seconds of this one take. Sounded great.
i would love to see this battle the coyote cayman and the gt4...would be a nice addition to the channel comparing "great" builds face to face....
Stunning in every detail.
This has to be a pricey build. Nice execution!
Normally I dislike the look of the Cayman but this one looks absolutely beautiful I actually like the sound it's not the best sound but I don't think it's terrible by any means it looks like it was done right and performs just great. I like it thumbs up great show car
3:30: He is reving up to about 8000rpm, sounds very impressive! I'm just thinking, that in the beginning of the video he states that the engine only had about 800 miles in total. Is this normal procedure of such a "young" engine" ?
Italian tune up!
Looks beautiful, not a fan of gold wheels on a car but everything else is spot on!
"Its in the break-in period" proceeds to rev it out lol nice
Did he take you to his dads collection? You would have a field day in there. I've seen this car around town and you're absolutely right, its amazing.
Absolutely beautiful. Porsche is amazing
So cool! Love the GT3 front end and the exposed engine.
That open-valve exhaust sounds so good. Not Cayman GT4 good, but close.
The downshift blips made my day!
I LOVE THE SPEED. Great driving, great car.
Looks like fun.
What an incredible looking car. Great build.
It's so beautiful. Crazy build
Not really into Porsches but this one has a lot going for it also how does he get to rip down these back roads and not ever find a cop good work
The red with gold wheels is hot! Sweet ride, would not want to front the bill though.
It's so beautiful. I want to cry
North Carolina Represent!
Well, there she goes, my favourite one take ever.
Coolest sounding car you have had Matt!!!
It would be interesting to hear a Porsche factory person comment. Porsche would not produce a similar car because it would detract from the 911.
wow-nice job matt! this one was amazing to watch.
what and adictive thing this Cayman may be!!! gosh!! that sound!!!
Will have this Cayman GT4 on display at TVP Auto Westgate in NC on June 2, 2018...
Love this Cayman build.. Absolutely amazing
Car is absolutely gorgeous !!!
I like Porsche but I hate the Cayman. This is one beautiful car!
This is fucking great, RUclips fucking unsubbed me from TST. I was so sad because I hadn't seen and content and didn't check the channel for some reason. I'm sorry Matt :( but I'm back!
i was thinking of your Farnbacher Loles Cayman vid from way back in the day when this began, and was happy you re-mentioned it. I remember years ago when that vid was made i did all sorts of research into that company and it was like a parade of crazy shit and not long after i think they went bankrupt? either way, i've always enjoyed the "how far can we take a cayman"-concept. I think its the best modern car platform to mod the fuck out of, i just think no one has quite solved the "which is the perfect engine" question yet. Or the cost/benefit one.
Aww yeah cruising down farrington road like a boss. Thats Jordan lake. Welcome to NC Matt!
you have no idea how many cyclists and bad drivers you luckily avoided on these roads this day lol
I am glad you did not stick to your "no more Cayman" rule! :)
sooooo sick. I love these videos. I like the mclaren675lt-ome take I like the most though. Absolutely insane.
Matt: "daddy rikey, I'm a fan!"
Me: "no Matt, you're a human. Not a fan..."
I love that mesh grille on the instrument cluster
Wow I'll be honest I just wanna sit here and look at it. Beautiful car
Holy cow, the rain gutter makes a huge difference on these cars. Me gusta
Welcome to NC! We live about 30 minutes from that shop.
1:07 Jesus christ that thing looks amazing. The color, the wheels, that fitmentttt. ;o
