Most don't because it's *not* in human nature to help. People are naturally selfish and self-centered. It's why as toddlers we have to be *taught* to share. Children naturally say *mine* when they have something and don't want anyone else to take it. Or try to take something someone else has. They hit and hide their hands. They lie and have to be taught to tell the truth. They have to be taught to do good, to put others first, to show affection and to say I'm sorry etc., It does not come naturally. We are born into a fallen state and only learning by example and repeated correction raises us to a level where we can *imitate* goodness but our true nature goes unchanged, it's just hidden. When there is no law, no structure and no accountability or reverence for something greater than ourselves, mankind de-evolves back to that fallen state and take on the same nature they had when they came into this world. This is why we need a Savior, to change our true nature into the right nature. Without Him we can only put on a veneer of civility, but beneath is always our true nature and given the "right" circumstances that veneer comes off and the world sees us for who we truly are. In vast flood tunnels under the glittering lights of Las Vegas, a hidden community of homeless people takes shelter from the elements and do what they must to survive. Seeker shares their story.
Nedroj So that may be the perceived case, but the average wealth of an individual American is some of the highest in the world, in a huge country of almost 400 million nonetheless. Also America's debt relative to it's GDP is manageable, whereas in some European countries the amount debt acquired will require several huge economy to solve. America's growth is also in the long run quite healthy, yet again, in many European countries growth is expected to, in the long run, falter. This is not to say there's not anything wrong with the United States, just some people are too acquainted with The United State's weaknesses more than their own region's.
Discovery✌dude ... Whoever, whatever , wherever God is may he bless you sr ...I was once homeless in Baltimore city md. I know how these ppl feel and what they are going thru but even I found out it's never too late to start a fresh life! I went from gangs , to time in jail most of my whole life into my late 20s ,to drugs to losing my fam, my kids ,my happiness, my soul but I over came my demons with fighting hard to change my life I literally had to leave my home town in 09 after my fiancee died from OD ! I was 27 she was 20 now I'm 36 and living well . No more demons but still deal with regret , I'm just happy to be out of the streets and alive and engaged in love again! I have my own home and I'm actually proud of myself for a change but like I said I will always have regrets, and as far as my demons , I hope they stay gone!..I won't survive Baltimore if I ever go back and this makes me very scard, and sad 😢 it's where my fam is and I dunno if I will ever see them again before we pass on or not
The sobering thing about this is the realization that this can happen to you. A life with no easy access to the basics like bathrooms/running water. How long would it take to fall out of society if unable to land a decent job or if injured/ill with no one else to help?
I believe it was made almost 6 years ago. I have watched it before and I think the first time I watched it was when he had just uploaded it and that was around 6 years ago.
4 yrs later after posting this I read the article that was posted under, thanks for that btw. I never knew she died until now. That’s so terrible that happened to her. I can only imagine what was going through her mind. She was always so nice to me when I was over at their apartment. (obviously before Sharon was back in those tunnels) so sad to hear. RIP Sharon. Glad I knew you and thanks for all the conversation and advice when I was just a kid coming out of high school.
great story yall covered. my brother lived there in the tunnels for a year so this story really hit me hard. thank yall for also including the link for shine a light.
My cousin is one of those people that chooses to live in the tunnels under the strip and elsewhere. He knows I would take him in in a minute but he would rather live where he does. He does suffer from a bit of mental illness and yes, he goes through his cycles but he's a very good man and he is also very nice, probably to a fault. I think he often gets taken advantage of. Not by anyone in the tunnels per se, but from the dealers and others who live above ground. I haven't heard from him in weeks now though and I am bit worried. It's not like him to not at least call me or my brother weekly so I have to wonder if he is okay. It doesn't help that he is there in Vegas and I am here in Montana. It's not like I can just drive down there and find him either. Well, I'll just keep hoping he gets a hold of me or my bro soon otherwise I am tempted to put in a missing persons report. I have my reasons to be worried about him. Thanks for the great video, Seeker. It's amazing so many people have no idea how large the homeless community in Vegas is.
Taha Berke Can Yes, thank you. We did hear from him finally and he is okay. He just lost his grandmother ( my aunt ) and she is the one who raised him. She was 94 though! His mother, my 1st cousin, was a heroin addict her whole life and although she loved her kids, she was not able to take of them properly. A few years ago I got a call from the LVPD informing me that she had been found in an alley behind a Von's in Las Vegas and had OD'd. So, my cousin lost his mother that way and his childhood was not the best although when my aunt had him he was taken very good care of. I think it was what happened to him in his childhood that made him unstable and brought out the psychosis and eventually, severe Schizophrenia. I'm just glad to know where he is. I can't make him come here and live with me or anything else unfortunately as he is of age and old enough to make his own decisions no matter how screwed up they may be.
Cathy Preston You betcha, Cathy. It's the least I could do since you have all been so supportive and nice to my cousin and I. It's a refreshing change from some of the awful comments people post now a days! Cheers to all - Cort
hi i live in vegas and it tripped me out seeing Sharon bc she died in the tunnel we had lots of rain and tunnel flooded she drowned i had known her for yrs. seeing this vid really upset me she was a good person
There was a man named Barry who lived in those tunnels but luckily he was able to get out of the tunnels before they flooded. He is doing good now he used to be homeless and now he rents a 2 br and 1 bath house.
I remember living in summerlin and my friend and I would have these adventures in the tunnels and we found a mini go kart, old camps (homes), we travel for hours and ended up by the side of the mountains maybe 3 hours away from we lived.
4:55...Awww ... l'm not predicting this could happen to anyone, this doe happen to someone!...someone who was a somebody, and now this somebody a fellow brother/sister is Down on there luck...these guys are not begging but surviving, these guys face some of the harshest cold weathers, humiliation and judgment, hunger, even fear...Never walk past another fellow person believeing you are better...A warm smile goes a long way...
The thing that is really sad is that Vegas does get flash floods as do many desert areas. You can only hope they could get out in time. I see many homeless people when I walk around Vegas. My heart goes out to them as anyone of us can find ourselves in a bad situation.
Lots of Lenape people lived there until white people committed genocide. Now we live in Oklahoma. Fake tribes still there try to claim they are Lenape but aren't.
I lived in Vegas for 15 years and had only heard of the tunnels. Never knew there were people living in them. Scary to think what would happen in a flash flood.
Carnation condensed milk was produced since 1899 but took the name Carnation Milk in 1901. The company was eventually sold to Nestle in 1986 who still makes the milk today, but now it is called "Nestle's Carnation Cooking Milk"
technically being homeless is a mindset there are those that have no home but they dont consider themselves homeless cause the travel the open road and have more freedom then us that have a home we should all love 1 another and be the same live as equals none of us is better than the next each person you ever meet i guarantee each person youll ever meet will be able too teach u something new love all keep peace and always keep lovemin your heart
No explanation on how they ended up living in the tunnels? Somewhere in the video they said they were living in apartments and one living in a house but we never really got to know what happened?
"Aghast the devil stood, and felt how awful goodness is..." the actual quote is... “Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” - John Milton, Paradise Lost That is one hell of a difference... :>(
Talking about Paradise Lost, there is a place of...certain significance also in Nevada. Both are underground...further underground...where did all the people go? Only the federal government knows...
Sadly, out of sight out of mind... This is incredible. a different world. Read a book by dean koontz called innocence about a boy whose mother suicides and the boy is rescued by a man who lives under the city. He meets a girl who "lives" in a library. An amazing book and perspective of the world. Thank you for this video
Matthew. Please contact me. I’d love to help and be a part of your “shine the Light”. This issue has been on my mind since I moved here from Minnetrista. Thank you for shinning your story, the light on people whom need living essential to survival
I visited as Vegas and realise the hotel workers work for tourist money to live. I wouldn't live in Las Vegas you can tell what people live there or holiday there. Las Vegas has so many lights it blinded the homeless community. Give food, guidance and help,
William Connell just south of flamingo on valley view Blvd before the condos and extended stay you’ll see the tunnels where they just walk into some have made shelters on the street there as well it’s pretty crazy but they do it
only areas in town that i've seen homeless in are pipes either flood drains like these or even small ones that are wide as a 2 lane road .idk where else anyone could stay under the vegas weather and survive ? I have and do see a few camping in dirt dunes here where i live around the nlv airport but when june come around they leave . tents put up next to dumpsters etc and squatting ,but the abandoned houses are disappearing fast cos the economies on the upswing .not could be me -will be me
We're a desert, but the land makeup is all hills and curves. Even 20 minutes of rain can cause flash flooding. Also, Las Vegas itself isn't a desert, though we are located in a desert. You're an observant one, my friend.
When you go down into the tunnels, do the people who live there "block off" the entire width of the tunnel where they have their camp, or just part of it? Hard to tell with your video.
I know Sharon from back when she first moved to Las Vegas. I also know she doesn't want pity or handouts. I do want her to know that I do miss talking to her and wish her only the best and happiness.
If I was homeless this is where I would rather stay, until it rained. What happens to all their stuff when the water comes through? How many of them have died during a flood? Seems a little dangerous even though they like living down there.
And the sad thing is the government would rather spend more to keep them out than it would cost to actually build homeless shelters. And then you have people who complain that they aren't looking for work, but I'm sure those are the very same people who would refuse to hire them because of a past record or drug problem, which is why I'm sure they give up looking for work.
I grew up in las Vegas and I can say that the tunnels definitely have their own sort of culture. I spent a lot of time in my teen years exploring and sometimes sleeping in them. This video is really interesting!

The compassion of humanity still amazes me. As social creatures its in our nature to help but sadly most dont.

When there is no law, no structure and no accountability or reverence for something greater than ourselves, mankind de-evolves back to that fallen state and take on the same nature they had when they came into this world. l'm not predicting this could happen to anyone, this doe happen to someone!...someone who was a somebody, and now this somebody a fellow brother/sister is Down on there luck...these guys are not begging but surviving, these guys face some of the harshest cold weathers, humiliation and judgment, hunger, even fear...Never walk past another fellow person believeing you are better...A warm smile goes a long way...
Are you related to that crazy Haywood family that put their hired hand in chains then hacked him to bits with an ax?
Damn..... so true
It's hot in vegas
The thing that is really sad is that Vegas does get flash floods as do many desert areas. You can only hope they could get out in time. I see many homeless people when I walk around Vegas. My heart goes out to them as anyone of us can find ourselves in a bad situation.
Thats awesome they are human beings surviving! They are good people too!
Fantastic video guys!
I need another 45 min of this.. all this teasing
Thats what she said
it
Go for Vice channel they explained it a lot better
***** good one mate, ya got me
Wow! This is really interesting! Ive lived here for 3 years and never knew of this.
''IF my man wants to live down here, I'll live down here with him'' - that my friends is the definition of a good woman
Andy Wood she died from a flood down there
Thank you for this video.
Way to expose them to public scrutiny, bravo. How long now do they have there?
people in Vegas will surprise you on how much humanity they hold. don’t let the lights fool you
New York City used to have a lot of people live in it tunnels.
Lots of Lenape people lived there until white people committed genocide. Now we live in Oklahoma. Fake tribes still there try to claim they are Lenape but aren't.
This breaks my heart as a human being to see this.
Hell exists much further below ground. What I find eerie is that here, you're that much closer to it. God protect these souls.
How do u know
I lived in Vegas for 15 years and had only heard of the tunnels. Never knew there were people living in them. Scary to think what would happen in a flash flood.
Once, me and my sister where walking to school and we saw a tunnel. We went inside, but it was to dark to see. We turned around and went to school.
4:55 hits you hard.
@4:55 wow he said "unless you can think of a better future I can think of" he is pleading for hope....ask God our Father.
Mr. Her Yea God is really helping them out isn’t he?
Ricky's last line was touchy
im a near homeless firefighter from indiana, maybe i should go down there during rainstorms and try to save lives.
My friend live here 10 years ago after she got layoff from$15 an hour dealer job in a las Vegas casino,I don't know if she is alive !
Somewhere in the video they said they were living in apartments and one living in a house but we never really got to know what happened?
drugs and gambling
thats not something we need to know. it wasnt about how they got there. its how they live in it.
The global economic hit in 2008 took a part too.
Drugs and mental illness
Addiction, job loss, medical problems causing financial problems, mental illness
I wish them all the best of luck.
No sunlight is hard man
"Aghast the devil stood, and felt how awful goodness is..."
the actual quote is...
“Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” - John Milton, Paradise Lost
That is one hell of a difference... :>(
How do I get in contact with the person involved in contacting the homeless in the segment, " Living in the Hidden Tunnels of Las Vegas?"
That is me what you need ?
Talking about Paradise Lost, there is a place of...certain significance also in Nevada. Both are underground...further underground...where did all the people go? Only the federal government knows...
they break my heart
Sadly, out of sight out of mind... This is incredible. a different world. Read a book by dean koontz called innocence about a boy whose mother suicides and the boy is rescued by a man who lives under the city. He meets a girl who "lives" in a library. An amazing book and perspective of the world. Thank you for this video
You guys have the best videos
Give food, guidance and help,
What do they do when it actually does rain? Do they lose everything? :(
Good question. I imagine waterproof clothes bedding, food using plastic bags.
Anyone know EXACTLY WHERE the entrance to the tunnels is? Is somewhere south of the Rio Casino??
William Connell just south of flamingo on valley view Blvd before the condos and extended stay you’ll see the tunnels where they just walk into some have made shelters on the street there as well it’s pretty crazy but they do it
How hot does it get down there in the Vegas heat?
I live in las vegas and there are a lot of tuns where i live.
only areas in town that i've seen homeless in are pipes either flood drains like these or even small ones that are wide as a 2 lane road .idk where else anyone could stay under the vegas weather and survive ? I have and do see a few camping in dirt dunes here where i live around the nlv airport but when june come around they leave . tents put up next to dumpsters etc and squatting ,but the abandoned houses are disappearing fast cos the economies on the upswing .not could be me -will be me
how do I find more info on this or contact this guy?
Its such a cold world.
Unfortunately Sharon passed away this weekend after a flash flood swept her and her partners camp away...
allegiant347 how do u kno
knpr.org/knpr/2015-07/more-rain-less-flooding-testament-flood-control-efforts
That's her partner's retelling of the events. So, so sad.
When the storm water flows, & it does big time in Vegas, do they get washed away?
Vegas barely gets rain it's a desert 😂😂😂💯💯
It may not rain much in las vegas, but when it rains it rain hard.
+Miguel Mendoza (Aergian) Yeah
We're a desert, but the land makeup is all hills and curves. Even 20 minutes of rain can cause flash flooding. Also, Las Vegas itself isn't a desert, though we are located in a desert. You're an observant one, my friend.
5:00 maybe people need to hear his testimony?
If we got all these tunnels now, then how come after a heavy rain it still always floods out the driveways at Harrahs?
This is amazing
When the raining season come won't everything be washed away and those inside get drowned?
How do you help and brighten their days?
Subscribed found you through Wimp.com seems like a awesome channel...
It's like an actually interesting version of "MTV cribs", hehe i love it.
When you go down into the tunnels, do the people who live there "block off" the entire width of the tunnel where they have their camp, or just part of it? Hard to tell with your video.
i wish the curious cameras would bring FRUIT for the homeless! (don't mourn! ORGANIZE..... fresh fruit Fridays?!)
This is such a sad life to live in tunnels and not be out in the sun and society but I guess for homelessness the situation seems somewhat safer.
When you get kicked out of your Freedom tunnel for being shady is when you truly hit bottom.
what camera are u using?
I know Sharon from back when she first moved to Las Vegas. I also know she doesn't want pity or handouts. I do want her to know that I do miss talking to her and wish her only the best and happiness.
Mark Mori she died
Yes I know.
U SAID IT ,GIVE UP THERE FREEDOM 4 ENSLAVMENT
Man, no one should live like this, there's plenty of everything for everyone, we have forgotten our ways, it's all me me me, armageddon where you at?
If I was homeless this is where I would rather stay, until it rained. What happens to all their stuff when the water comes through? How many of them have died during a flood? Seems a little dangerous even though they like living down there.
The flood channells that never really gets floaded!
When it's raining in Vegas, it sometimes gets really bad. There's floods almost everywhere in Vegas when it rains.
When it rains all that water comes right down there and they drown.......
So what if the tunnels are flooded due excessive rainfall? Or is that really a thing from the past in Vegas?
Yo where is this at would love tongondown there help out
And the sad thing is the government would rather spend more to keep them out than it would cost to actually build homeless shelters. And then you have people who complain that they aren't looking for work, but I'm sure those are the very same people who would refuse to hire them because of a past record or drug problem, which is why I'm sure they give up looking for work.
Isn't there a soup kitchen near by? Concerned how their eating.
