    I think there will be people who like the update and people who will hate it, for now I have a positive feeling. But man no one can argue about the graphics, animation and sound improvements. What we've seen is insane and I am excited to experience that new game-feel

    About the HP bars and immersion: Turning them off is actually just a flat out disadvantage, so the ability to do it is basically moot as a counter to the immersion point.

      Hard agree, it was one of my biggest headscratchers as to why we also dont have a way to access our loadouts outside of matches or the shooting range.

    Very much agree with your rant. The problem with massive updates without feedback is, what if many of the changes turn out to be bad? I mean if you want to do a full re-work of the game then I guess it does make sense to have a big update if the individual parts would not be cohesive otherwise, but to me it seems there are just a bunch of shit here. Some of them might need to be released together for it to make sense, but many would not need to be such as the graphical updates or sound rework. Why not release those in smaller updates?

      I agree, Battlebit is losing players everyday, and the longer they wait for an update, the worse it'll get! They need to just make smaller updates, and if changing the whole game is their goal, it would be better to do it over time, not all at once.

      Weirdly, I've been seeing a lot of new players in matches lately. And the ones with a hundred plus hours are likely going to see or hear about the update and try it out if they haven't been playing lately.
      Now... That doesn't mean player numbers will be where either the devs or the playerbase wants them to be. But I'm seeing more new players than old players that are quitting the game for good.
      They just don't always stick around. Which this update is hopefully going to help with.

      All that said... Yeah. Scope creep is generally really bad. Though slowing down to make sure you're getting things right before pushing them out is generally really good.
      But... At this point... There needs to be an update to the game soon. Even if it's just breaking off a couple smaller pieces of this big update and releasing it in waves.
      Still. In programming it can be really helpful to get everything playing well together before releasing any updates rather than piling on updates and patches without proper direction or coordination. Changing multiple things at once does come with some advantages. Just not enough.

    I fear this update may not be as good as what people make it out to be. What was originally an easy-to-play but hard-to-master game is about to undergo a complete gameplay change that will not get as positive feedback as some may hope. It's coming up to 8 months without an update, and what they've shown is a complete change to what we've been playing for the last 12 months. I think the core community right now will be pretty jaded by the changes, because it's going to be way too different.
    To top it off, the amount of changes coming are so dense that the bugs are going to be through the roof. I played the beta, I played the early access, and the bugs were there, in droves. That's why weekly patches were a thing, because there were so MANY bugs.
    Also, dropshotting nerf is huge. Love it.

      Seems like the game has a good core community set in already. So why not just keep slowly updating the game like before to satisfy the core community. But I like the easy to play hard to master aspect of battlebit. We just didn’t have enough content

      @sowishful Exactly right. The changes are so much that it's going to be incredibly jarring to those still loyal to the game that are still playing. New movement, new prone changes, new recoil, new sounds, new health system, new TTK nerfs, new graphics, new destruction, new camera shake...
      There is way too many changes at once to NOT get some massive backlash from the core community. Praying for a smooth update is not the right angle to take, but yet again, Oki and his echo chamber of friends are making decisions without looking at any sort of backlash.... Again....

      @@allwillfreeze it seems like they just want to try to grow the game back into the tens of thousands. But they’re taking a big risk on it. But yeah, it’s baffling they didn’t realize they have a good loyal core community already. I feel if they kept slowly building upon the game, adding more stuff, figuring out a good way to add micro transaction’s, and I think the player base would grow organically. I still see lots of newer players, who seem to enjoy the game.

    It looks to me like, they want this new update to be gigantic.
    So big, they can market the game again as a 1.00 launch & get a ton of players again.

    The old armor systems was crap anyway. I always wished for a more complicated armor/damage system. It would have really sorted out the SMG laserbeam problem if they had armor penetration model in game.

      True, but i think an armor penetration model might be too huge a change to effectively update and might be taxing on player systems. We have to rmember this is basically roblox with AAA mechanics, while being able to be played on a potato.

      Yeah. A percentage damage reduction or a system that makes armor more effective against small arms via some sort of armor pen system (a la Helldivers) could be cool.
      I think the best route is a percentage damage reduction system with keeping armor fairly similar to how it is now, just with it being permanent now.
      This system seems simpler and less interesting. And having it reduce the damage by a percentage would make it so that it wouldn't add another resource to manage.

      I do wish armor was expanded upon as far as what ammo type you are facing. They had values for some guns vs vehicles to do more dmg like the AUG, but I'm convinced they gave up on that idea.

    Dude even if they left the game as is and there was never a new update, BBR is still currently one of the best large scale online shooters out there, and its $15!!! That is in no way "taking you money" and running. People gotta pump the brakes.

    The update seems to be more and more disappointing, in my opinion. Making everything more tanky, nerfing movement, buffing support, nerfing assault, nerfing spawn on player, audio buff for players sitting still, better accuracy at range, flinching anyone trying to react to campers, nerfing environmental damage so u cant break down campers cover easier. Every advantage goes to the player sitting still and every disadvantage goes to the player pushing. I'm not winging because I have a fast play style, I don't really. I'm really just concerned that every match is going to turn into a campy fight for the middle every time.

      i agree with all those concerns, definitely. even now it's pretty hard to destroy sandbags that are player made, which is good, its a good back and forth. the defenders but repair, the attackers need sustained fire to break through

      You are 100% right. I think everyone who loves the uniqueness that BBR currently has over other current shooters is skeptical as well. Many of us are long time FPS gamers and have seen these same changes ruin other games we loved. BBR doesn't need 20k+ players every day, we need a game that stays true and unique from the bland shooters on offer elsewhere. BBR has room for improvement, but these changes are not what I think any of us actually wanted.

    So hopefully this means that the armor change will make it so shooting a sniper in the head with a SCAR wont get negated because they're wearing a hat

      ... When do snipers wear helmets? I never see snipers with helmets in battlebit. The better aiming time you get from "empty" helmets seems to far outweigh any tiny benefit from armor. Since most of the time they're getting killed by other snipers.

    This all looks very promising tbh, it really gonna uplift the game but the time... i never understood why they cant push out some "smaller" stuff in the meanwhile, like give us the new sounds, models etc, you dont have to gatekeep everything whwn they are done

      It can make testing easier and reduce bugs on release this way. And put less of a demand on the dev team letting them work at their own pace.
      The issue is the potential disconnect from their playerbase and what they'll like. And getting yourself too deep and overwhelmed by how big all the changes/ideas are.

    God, I hope the update doesn't tank performance. I play battlebit on potato settings, and it juuuuust about runs. If the update worsens the fps, I'll probably be unable to play the game.

    Tried to play last week. There were 4 servers with greater than 0 population in total around the globe. None of them were full. As a Patreon supporter from the beginning, I've never seen a full-house, grand slam of a launch and community be fumbled by a dev team so hard. They reverse no-man's-sky-ed themselves into obscurity.

    I’m excited for the destruction update. It sucks that one squad with c4 can level and three story building without evening restocking ammo. The new colors look awesome too!
    I’m worried about the base leaving but as long the ttk doesn’t make it feel too bad I think it will be *fine.
    *enough players to play against..

    The most frustrating aspect of the armor system to me was the UI for the armor was a real chore to use, and it had to be redone on every prestige due to unlocks. I hated to use it, but also hated the scout class needing a certain level to have more than 3 spare mags.

      I mean. Before you unlock ranger armor, there is normal armor that also gives you more mags.

      But yeah. Most of the UI and QoL in the game needs a massive overhaul.
      The shooting range needs to be expanded to include vehicles so people can practice driving/flying the different ones.
      The menus need a work over, loadouts would be great, weekly challenges and incredibly broken, the server list doesn't include the name of the current map (just an image of it for some reason), equipping different armor is clunky and the available colors for camo changes on each map, armors unlock at too high of ranks, in the shooting range you can't see what weapons/attachments you have unlocked to understand what is actually available to you in actual games, you can't change the shooting range to nighttime to test out different optics and features that would be really nice to outside of combat, some of the text and such is incredibly broken (like when making a clan), making a clan is a major chore and it doesn't tell you all the restrictions of the clan image or name or tag until you break them, making/joining a clan comes with very few benefits for most players...
      I love the game. But damn. It has some serious QoL issues.

    I really hope this update doesn't kill what's remaining of the community. I doubt it'll bring in any new players or bring back many people who gave up on the game so it'll likely just splinter the rest of the diehard fans who are still playing regularly right now. Regardless, I want it to turn out well and hope that doesn't happen. Good video as per usual.

      You are exactly right. This is going to alienate the existing playerbase who love what BBR has to offer as is. Turning this into a more casual shooter experience by raising TTK, nerfing movement, and even thinking about adding suppression is just an absolute L across the board for many of us who still play. I uninstalled CoD/BF/Squad for BBR and BBR is going to get the forever uninstall if they mess this up. I'm all for positive changes, but this feels like a terrible direction that the game is undertaking. I can't help but be super skeptical, I've seen these changes in other games and it murdered their die hard player count.

    This update has me worried, the movement in battle bit was its best feature to me. I don’t think people are losing fights they should win I think they’re just losing.

      The problem is that the pacing of the game currently is too fast for how chaotic it can be. It is very easy for a single crachead player to bolt into a room and dropshot 5+ people before they can even realize that someone is shooting them. This system of being the first to shoot or die is not a good beginner friendly system and it's hurting the playerbase as not many people want to start a game only to get killed before they even knew they were getting shot at.

      @@frozenburst6463 dropshotting should DEFINITELY be removed, but the 180 degree turn nerf is horrible, and its going to contribute to the "shoot first or die" problem you're talking about by making good movement to escape a situation impossible because you magically turn into a slug when 180ing

      @@AryanGenetics A playerbase consists of 2 types. The OG's and the newbies. To keep a healthy playerbase, the devs need to make sure their game's updates are something that the OG's can enjoy while also doing it in a way that makes new guys want to join and stay playing.
      (Tl:Dr for below) Og players are lacking new content, and newbies are at a major disadvantage and can not improve with such a fast ttk.
      Right now, there is no playerbase because both sides are hurting. OG's are not getting any updates, so the game is becoming stale and boring.
      But at the same time, new players don't want to join because the system behind Battlebit currently is really bad for newbies. Back when the game was new, no one knew the meta guns, didn't have many attachments, and didn't know the potential of the movement and fast time to kill. But since they now do, there is not much a new player can do before getting stomped by the OG's. They lack the weapons, attachments, and knowledge. It punishes them where they get into confrontations where they die so quickly they don't even get to know what happen. When the time to kill is about less than 1/4 of a second, they won't be able to react before they die, giving them little information on what they did wrong and what to do in the future. This leads to frustration as it is a cycle of playing, dying before knowing what's going on, and then increasing frustration. This is only amplified when a player has a weak device or weak internet. Any form of lag during a fight will guarantee death, making it even more frustrating to play.

    i understand their thinking behind changing armor. but i would vastly prefer an armor resupply over no armor at all.
    there are NUMEROUS games that are fast-paced and have resuppliable armor. its only an issue if you only run smgs and barrel straight into the enemy without forethought.

    I am really excited to see how everything feels as if will really feel like a new game, but I fully agree with your comments on scope
    I was fully on the battlebit train for a while, and when i started wavering in gameplay dedication the new guns and attachment rework did a lot to keep me invested. However 8 months with no new weapons, especially as a support main just made every game feel a bit samey after a while. I love using LMGs and DMRs but theres only so many games I can rock the same loadout
    I will be coming back to the game for the update as my burnout has well worn off, but I am hoping that following its release they will focus in on the small additions that keep the game fresh

      Why? Suppression flinch has never been bad for battlefield games. Its one of the things that separated it from COD’s fast paced, try hard, running into bullets because i have a sniper type gameplay

      Nah dawg I want realism and immersion. The bit graphics are the compromise to get a more realistic shooter and mechanics as originally intended.

    AK-15 Buff to 600RPM and -10% horizontal.
    My favourite gun but not being able to put on a suppressor makes me sad, change to ether thr large or small to give the same effect as a flash hider would be nice

    why didn't they just make armor reduce a % of damage like siege? ex. light armor reduces damage by 10%, heavy reduces damage by 20%, etc.
    seems like a pretty obvious move to me, but idk

    11:30 It doesn't matter what their intentions are or how crazy the game is. What matter is what players FEEL. It's all very much feeling based and subjective and the subjective feeling of the Battlebit players are that the game is abandoned.

      It wasn’t as crazy as this, and with the fast movement in Bf4 came with less accurate weapons with more recoil so it was much harder to run and gun

    I've heard that the original view of the developers was an easy to run squad like game i don't know how true that is. but if these updates are going to happen i understand why, but it's safe to say that it's going to be a clusterfuck for the community

    While I will miss the ARMOR system, it was a pretty pointless system honestly. As noted by EVERYONE it only really helped in your FIRST Fire fight, then you where slower for NO REASON, which is WHY people where asking for Armor to be replenishable. Simplifying the System so its just different HP as opposed to HP plus Armor is smart i guess.
    Although, like Bleeding (annoying as that was) its just another small feature thrown in the Bin. Honestly I thought the point of Bleeding was to stop people from rushing you alone (and so you stay near medics).

    Overall the update does look good but I dont see this game getting back on its feet. The playerbase is gone and even if they throw alot of money to big content creators/streamers there is the possibility the influx of new and returning players is simply not there to warrant the amount of time they spent on this update. They had an opportunity to build a long lasting game with a healthy playerbase and did nothing with it.

    sooooooooo it feels like there trying to build a bit more of a skill gap into the game, which I'm all for. I dont know if the players will be ok with it which seems to be the gamble but its feels like its seeking to recreate a bf4 vibe. this could make the game really feel like bf4.

    running 200 km/h and constantly changing direction must be great skill, compared to support going 20 km/h. Support projectiles dont have any sort of realistic velocity either, acting as if they had 5x the HP. Lag gives advantage to whoever is twitching. So, not skill. Try do the same skilled gameplay with the support at 20 km/h. Reliance onn extremely low ping of you vs others not having near zero latency. Low TTK will mean, that you will finish the other team before they get response from server that something is happening. So that is not so much skill, as exploiting the latency and its weakness to fast changing movement.

    Great video. I think the 180° swing around nerf will be great, but could lead to problems such as getting out of danger zones quick enough. IDK, maybe this will teach us better awareness. For the majority of new players (like me), the crouch nerf will be especially good for us who just get mowed down by prone players, and the increased TTK for that reason also. However, I also like the speed of Battlebit, so it'd be interesting to see how this pans out. I don't really like the HP changes, but I love the new health bar. With the graphic changes, I'm not sure about this, as the simple graphics give BB a sort of charm, with the added benefit for those without high-powered rigs. That said, I do like graphically pleasing games, so we'll see. In terms of the 'flinch' addition, I really hope you can change the intensity of this, but it could be a good indicator for whether or not your being shot at by an enemy or just a deranged teammate. With the explosions, I hope they'll have a heap of different types, as seeing the exact same FX all the time would get old very quick.
    Altogether, it seems like one of those things that you just have to wait and see.

    To be honest unless they nerf DMRs or at least reduce the incredible amount of glare on sniper scopes by somewhat i'm not going to really enjoy the game because it quite literally nowadays is just and rifleman just spamtriggers their mouse and outkills a sniper at 600-700 M with a med scope

      Eh. I have much more of an issue when it comes to the default sights on every weapon being absolutely trash. Those first 5-10 kills to unlock an actually decent sight are the absolute worst.
      Makes me want to never try the guns I have 0 kills on.

    I uaed to be a full time sweat of this game. 3-4 hours every other day, weekends, 7 hours each day sort of sweat. I got bored... The updates came too slow the balance was left too long for me to abuse... I fully stopped playing about 2 months ago and haven't looked back!

    Movement nerf seems good for casual players, but it makes me so sad, because I always liked fast paced fps shooters more than the slower ones. Coming from BF4 with it's buggy mechanics Battlebit seemed like the best choice for me. Movement is probably a thing that distinguishes skilled and non skilled players the most, as aiming is fairly easy to master. It is sad, because fps that has higher skill ceiling is usually more fun and challenging.

      I like the level progression unlocks, and feel they are pretty well balanced. But the attachment unlocks are a little tedious. I wish you could pick what you unlock. Each attachment could "cost" a certain number of kills, and you could bank them up until you have enough to unlock it. Say a suppressor is 50 kills, rather than unlocking everything before it you could leave everything locked and grab a suppressor as soon as you reach 50. Completionists could still go for everything, and more casual players would have an easy time outfitting their favorite weapons the way they like.

    Feels like every aspect of the game that I picked it up for is being systematically removed piece by piece and the game is becoming far more generic and subsequently bland. All the high skill playstyles are being killed one by one to the point that now the best way to play is just to run around with an ar in pretty much all instances.
    Removing customisation choices in clothing options is something I am not a fan of and neither do I like the changes to movement. I can appreciate the necessity to do so with enhanced times to kill but that in of itself is not something that was needed. It's going to take a lot of the skill out of map traversal and massively cut the outplay potential that came with it.
    Health bars are whatever personally I feel the gunplay to be perfectly sufficient as is with hit markers that change in colour depending on where you hit or if you kill. It is intuitive as is.
    A real shame honestly but besides grenade/claymore spam it played the best in the alphas.

      Yeah... If there's an option to turn it off, I almost certainly will. They already have hit markers and a death sound/marker too.
      Plus you still get exp from assists and can even have assists count as a kill if you did enough damage.
      I think that's enough feedback to give the player. Plus the ttk is still insanely low to the point where the health bar should never be on the screen longer than a second anyways... So why have it?

      @@chickengod5233 Not... Really? It doesn't provide any necessary or helpful info in a game with a ~400 ms ttk. It's just distracting and annoying. Especially when there's already hit/kill sounds and markers.
      And if you're blind firing into smoke or something to see if you can get a HP bar to pop up then you're just giving away your position and you're going to die.
      So... I see no real advantage here. At all.

    I used to find EU servers really quickly back in 3-4 months ago
    now it takes forever to a point where i have to cancel and redo it to finally find a match
    devs keep NOT updating the game longer and eventually there wont be anyone left to play the game except maybe bots to keep the player count up

      Yeah, it's odd that the XP meter is fully present on HUD.
      While HP is only seen while healing, it's more important, so it should get it's own HUD space.

      The movement IS fun, until a medic with a vector comes and wipes out a whole fortification because NO ONE can hit a 120% speed maniac who keeps doing 180° turns and somehow has perfect aim, wich not only nullifies the effectiveness of long range guns and removes any team-wide pushes because some guy with perfect aim can take out 20 ennemies at once, but also literally turns it into a sweatfest instead of the original vision of the game wich was a hybrid between battlefield 4 and squad.

The strafing doesn't rlly bother me. But using it is fun, not just to evade enemies, but just jumping in general, I like the feel.
      I mean, I get it if u don't want to play seriously, but I don't rlly mind the update, as the rule goes, if someone is better then u b4, then he'll be better then u after.

    if these changes to 180 sprinting and prone are true i take back mostly everything i said about time to kill
    only issue i'd have is killing at medium range with anything that isn't a sniper will be rough and you would be insane to try and challenge a sniper with anything that isn't a sniper
    also worried about how this will effect DMRs as landing 2 ~ 3 shots is often hard enough often you need someone to be so bewildered on what hit them that they freeze and don't take cover for what ever reason or zig zag like a mad man making the follow up shot insanely hard, but having to land 3 ~ 4 shots to kill just forget it
    i hope they just lower RoF for Dmrs lowering damage will make them useless

    whats the point of adding more health to support when it already has its armor, basically the first fight against a full exo support will be fighting a legit tank. if ur going to add more health might as well just add an armor replenish mechanic, more tactical and can slow pace down. people who don't care will just play like they do now, no major difference.
    plus if they add armor replenishment and maybe tweak the movement debuffs, they could actually add different damage/penetration values for each weapon caliber, but thats a whole other thing.

    Feels like this whole update is aimed at lowering the skill ceiling on players with fast play styles and reinforcing camping as how they want the game to be played. Really disappointing they can’t allow both options to exist

      Fast play styles relied on abusing game mechanics, you can still absolutely play fast like I always did early on with flashes and grenades. Two man teams could easily wreck a whole building within 60 seconds with walking speed

    I'm afraid they are losing focus on what makes Battlebit amazing for those of us who still play. Higher TTK's ain't it and this could hurt the game even more. No one wants to play another Battlefield clone and I feel like the developers should be focusing on what makes BBR unique and exciting. Battlebit is the perfect blend of Squad and Bad Company 2, not saying it can't be improved, but it works. When the game starts changing to become more like every other casual CoD/BF game, you may temporarily gain more players, but you are going to lose the dedicated ones who stay for the uniqueness. I really hope this works out and feels okay, but from my experience playing FPS games all the way back to the 90's, this is not the direction you should be heading and I've seen way too many game tank after making changes like this. I guess we'll see, but I'm afraid these changes are likely going to turn me away from the game. 256 player matches with twice the TTK is going to feel like crap to confirm your kills, I don't want to chase down my kills and I don't want to see newbs get obliterated even more. Raising TTK is a good way to ensure that the best players are harder to be dropped by newbs, making it a much more frustrating experience for them in a game that has no MMR matchmaking. Also, the thought of them adding suppression is just a straight up L and no one who's opinion is worth a damn wants it.

Battlebit is a casual FPS game, it's not a live service grind and play every night kinda game. 4k players is an entire small city of people playing Battlebit and I never have a problem finding a full 256 player server.     I cant call it a nerf so much as fixing a really common method of abusing a machanic. Kind of like how Titanfall movement is really just a form of abusing the mechanics not really a mechanic itself. Also was one of the things that killed the game.
