This band literally does not have a bad song. 3 full albums, 2 EPs a hand full of covers and some singles mixed throughout. This band has by far become my favorite band of all time and they did all of that while being Independent. They were just signed by RCA and so they will be here for the long haul. But the whole Sleep Token thing happened in London when he was touring there... They officially formed around 2016.
"I'm a winged insect, you're a funeral pyre" is such a beautiful way to say "like a moth to a flame". Vessel just has a way with words like I've never heard before. I highly suggest having the lyrics up on a second screen or turning on captions (as long as they arent auto generated).

It's a Scythe. Love Sleep Token, you guys picked an interesting one to start with though lol. It's one of my favorites on the album but if you don't know what Sleep Token is like going in, I bet it seems all over the place. It's the title track and 2nd to last song on the album and in a lot of ways it mirrors and calls back to the rest of the album. If you want to get a better grip on them as a band you can jump around, people will have plenty of suggestions and there really are no bad choices IMO. Or going strait through an album 1 song at a time will pretty quickly show you that the main thing to expect is that you won't know what to expect lol.

Sometimes you have bands who have music that’s good but the lyrics are so so and sometimes you have bands when the lyrics are good but the music is so so. Sleep Token in my opinion have mastered them both. Like nirvana I believe ST are a once in a generation band. #Worship Soon you will know what that means if you haven’t already.

Their lyrics (and music) are amazing. "My my those eyes like fire, im a winged insect, you're a funeral pyre" is a take on the 'moth to a flame' simile, but taken to a new level - he is attracted to (her?) but the light being funeral pyre is ominous and suggests some deeper/dark issues there. "No amount of self sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence" also gets me every time and stands alone as a majestic statement about the challenges (baggage) people accumulate as they mature and move through life. Many other such examples throughout their catalogue. Enjoy diving in, if you do.

Sleep Token is my favorite band and I love music from all genres and eras. I highly recommend listening to all three albums, in a row, without stopping. They tell a complete story and are one of the most beautiful masterpieces of modern art that I have seen. I had heard random songs from them, but when I listened to the full trilogy and understood the deeper meaning behind every song, it changed my idea of what music could even be. The themes and even certain lyrics permeate throughout the trilogy. From the first song of the first album, to the last song of the third album, Vessel weaves a story with genius poetry and skillful musicianship. Nothing else compares to Sleep Token. Also, everyone is confused by the genre blending at first so here is a quote from Vessel during one of the only real interviews he has ever done. He was asked what genre Sleep Token is supposed to be and he replied, “Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. They are what I like to call living art. Start at the beginning and go on the journey, don’t pick it apart by listening to songs out of order and from different albums, it’s meant to be a story. Vessel does what he wants lol and it just works, he understands music.
Great reaction! I would suggest that you start at the beginning with EP one, then, EP two, the singles, then the three albums. This will get you through ST diverse genre blending, otherwise known as ST. And the story of Sleep across the trilogy.

You’re actually starting toward the end of the story that is the three albums they’ve released. I recommend you listen to them too . They have some covers , Hey Ya and I Wanna Dance w Somebody.. try it you’ll like it.

There is an over arching story told in sleep tokens music. Extremely simplified its about a man who gives himself to a entity named sleep believing that Sleep will help him but instead uses his body as a vessel to do terrible things and acts of violence. The albums track vessels journey. This song specifically is about Vessel begging and demanding that he be returned to "Eden" who is assumed to be his lost love from explaining how vessel experiences life and then asking sleep to release him and finally almost giving into sleep again. At least that's always been my understanding of it.
I think the secret to Sleep Token's success is not even that all (!) their songs are great. It's that they immediately connect with people on an emotional level, through the music, through the lyrics and through Vessel's voice. They just reach places in people that other bands never get to.
I really hope you guys go down the Sleep Token rabbit hole. I would try and suggest songs but then I would just be listing every single one lol. If you’re interested in starting at the beginning of the trilogy (there are 3 albums that all intertwine and tell a story) I would definitely suggest that. Especially since people are suggesting Euclid, the last song on the last album of the trilogy, I will say it hits so much harder and makes more sense to start with the first song on their first album Sundowning called The Night Does Not Belong to God. Going through everything in order you’ll see the story unfold and see so many callbacks to so many songs. It’s actually brilliant and Vessel’s lyrics are pure poetry. But that’s just my suggestion! Worship 🙏🏻 Also it was the capri sun for me lmao
Sleep Token tldr is basically fuck the genre, it's all about expressing emotions, what music should be all about. I have never before in my entire life listened to so many tracks of one band and loved every single one of them as of Sleep Token. It's something special.

I had been shown Sleep Token in 2017ish, and while I thought he has a very unique voice, the music generallyisn’t for me. The “genre” they are in has kind of been nicknamed “baddiecore,” which is hilarious to me. So many regular people are obsessed with this band, and people are posting thirst trap stuff on tiktok with Sleep Token music. If youwant to check out anothef band that kind of similar, breakk.away is very good. I think they only have 2 songs released as of right now.

Oh, my friends.... this but the beginning of your journey. You have to do more Sleep Token. Or all of it, honestly. One song, one video at a time. Their 3 albums are a trilogy that have helped so many people heal and you really should start from the beginning now that you've dipped your toes in.
Something I don't see very often in the comments is that all of the music you hear on the recordings is just the singer and the drummer. They tour with other musicians, but the singer plays all the instruments except drums in the studio. I would suggest Bloodsport (from the room below) or Atlantic if you like the sad songs...but they have so many great songs like The Summoning, The Night Does Not Belong to God, Higher, Levitate, Ascensionism, Euclid, Etc. You can't go wrong.

Sleep Token IS a genre. Welcome and Worship \m/
There is an over arching story told in sleep tokens music. Extremely simplified its about a man who gives himself to a entity named sleep believing that Sleep will help him but instead uses his body as a vessel to do terrible things and acts of violence. The albums track vessels journey. This song specifically is about Vessel begging and demanding that he be returned to "Eden" who is assumed to be his lost love from explaining how vessel experiences life and then asking sleep to release him and finally almost giving into sleep again. At least that's always been my understanding of it.
I think the secret to Sleep Token's success is not even that all (!) their songs are great. It's that they immediately connect with people on an emotional level, through the music, through the lyrics and through Vessel's voice. They just reach places in people that other bands never get to.

I really hope you guys go down the Sleep Token rabbit hole. I would try and suggest songs but then I would just be listing every single one lol. If you’re interested in starting at the beginning of the trilogy (there are 3 albums that all intertwine and tell a story) I would definitely suggest that. Especially since people are suggesting Euclid, the last song on the last album of the trilogy, I will say it hits so much harder and makes more sense to start with the first song on their first album Sundowning called The Night Does Not Belong to God. Going through everything in order you’ll see the story unfold and see so many callbacks to so many songs. It’s actually brilliant and Vessel’s lyrics are pure poetry. But that’s just my suggestion! Worship 🙏🏻

Sleep Token tldr is basically fuck the genre, it's all about expressing emotions, what music should be all about. I have never before in my entire life listened to so many tracks of one band and loved every single one of them as of Sleep Token. It's something special.

I had been shown Sleep Token in 2017ish, and while I thought he has a very unique voice, the music generallyisn’t for me. The “genre” they are in has kind of been nicknamed “baddiecore,” which is hilarious to me. So many regular people are obsessed with this band, and people are posting thirst trap stuff on tiktok with Sleep Token music.
If youwant to check out anothef band that kind of similar, breakk.away is very good. I think they only have 2 songs released as of right now.

Something I don't see very often in the comments is that all of the music you hear on the recordings is just the singer and the drummer. They tour with other musicians, but the singer plays all the instruments except drums in the studio. I would suggest Bloodsport (from the room below) or Atlantic if you like the sad songs...but they have so many great songs like The Summoning, The Night Does Not Belong to God, Higher, Levitate, Ascensionism, Euclid, Etc. You can't go wrong.
