So glad to have contacted you. Just to let you know that there is a really healthy underground scene today. Until recently, i was an active member and dj myself at psychedelic clubs in the UK. And 'my white bicycle' is still an anthem today. I have got an original Hapshash poster for the promotion of the said single, as well. Like i mentioned on my first reply; i was a serious collector until very recently (sold my collection to help buy a cottage in Derbyshire) and have had my clothing and poster collection in a number of exhibitions in the last decade. I was recently involved in a documentary about the Dandy/,psychedelic clothing. The said documentary has been uploaded to RUclips - if you put in to the search engine - Golden Threads: a tailormade revolution - that should take you to my documentary. 8 am sure that it will spark some more memories, Col. Thank you again. Peter.

Its a rough uphill climb. The lure of RUclips give you a few hundred views, but let me tell you...
This is important historical work and its all thanks to you. Thank you for gathering all these stories.

Absolutely brilliant. Col is Pink Floyd "Royalty". And does a wonderful podcast. Well done guys and astonishing commitment by Col over decades to keep the web site alive and relevant. Wonderful praise for Col by Ian at the end. So much deserved.

Nice interview guys, thank you! Shame Col doesn't care for the live audience recordings anymore. I guess I'm just the opposite and find the most enjoyment from the live material. I know the studio albums front to back but there's always new and interesting things to hear from the live shows. To each their own. Good stuff!

Hello from Michael who was there with Col the first and last time he met Roger. Col is a big hearted man who kept us all informed for all these years with little recognition and less thanks. He made my dream come true twice by organising the meets with Roger and I cannot thank him more. It was wonderful to watch this and relive the days.
As Col mentioned when he texted me the first date we saw Roger was April 2002 (my twin daughters were born April 3 and I think the concert was April 4) - not Melbourne but Sydney. Roger was very pleasant and kind and signed I think 9 items including the ticket stubs to Emily (named after the song See Emily Play) and Jedd my twin daughters.
Then of course the infamous night in Brisbane at the intermission of the Us and Them tour where Roger metaphorically (and possibly physically) spat on us and had a childish tantrum, leaving me puzzled at how this master lyrical genius could be a walking contradiction to the most deep and profound messages that drew me to Roger. Col and I left after trying to enjoy the last half of the show for about 20 minutes.....
None of this would have been possible without Col. Thanks mate I appreciate you and all the hard work you have put in for all the fans to get us such amazing information.

I was depressed after watching the video and I really wanted to believe in my heart that Roger had changed, matured and grew up (whatever that means). I really wanted to believe that he was a decent man in old age and had us fooled good for awhile until the video of Roger being ungrateful was shown and I called Roger out and in fact blocked me from his social media accounts after I questioned his lip syncing and behavior.

Love these pods - really interesting. I’m 50 so missed on the best times to be fair but the closest I think I could have ever got was NMSOS at the pub in Putney. The power of those riffs and drums were unbelievable. I think that’s the closest I could have got to UFO. Nice job guys keep up the good work

Thank you so much for your reply, Col. Your Procal story is wonderful. I am a massive fan of the band Tomorrow. I personally know Keith West. I was until very recently a big collector of men's mid to late 60s clothing (owning Keith West's Granny Takes A Trip jacket from his UFO days amongst many other psychedelic garments) . Having many garments from Granny Takes A Trip, as well as many other boutiques from around London. I am sure you would have frequented a few yourself being a Mod. There is some funny footage of the 14 Hour Technicolour Dream, which shows a bunch of Mods being interviewed. They looked so uneasy amongst the 'Flower Children'. So funny! It must have been quite similar for you and your fellow Mod friends when you first took those tentative steps down to the UFO - and what you would have seen for the first time. How long was it before you ditched your John Stephen 3 button mohair jacket for a Kleptomania kaftan! Joking aside; to listen to someone that frequented the UFO club and has such wonderful memories is fantastic for people like myself. Thank you.

Oh Man! You have got me going now! My White Bicycle was an underground anthem. I can still hear it now! Tomorrow were one of the UFO favourites (favorites if you prefer). You are correct about entering UFO when still a mod! It was an unreal experience but one I have never regretted. Apart from a few years when I was Mayor on my local council, I have kept my hair long since UFO! I was born a hippy there.

I've always thought a key part/ingredient of the early Floyd sound was the BBC Radiophonic workshop; I believe they even visited it? Pete Townsend may have a point to add there when he noted they somehow nailed the sound of the period, though not sure how to describe it: an eerie, metallic quality that might make more sense if you're living in that time, taking on board the sounds coming from TV, radio, the streets even...and so on.

Delia Derbyshire mate. Gilmour has mentioned her and Floyd had some access to the BBC sound effects library.
Pink Floyd were introduced the world of EMS synthesisers by Delia Derbyshire, the pioneering electronic musician who crafted the Doctor Who theme. She took Gilmour and co to Putney studios to meet lead technician Peter Zinovieff and test out the VCS3,
Liked AFG at first but the bullying culture on there got too much. Don't miss it. Times move on but it did pioneer post Brain Damage a digital age of Floyd's hidden audio and visual recordings from hoarders. Also Yeeshkul. For that I'm thankful.

Does Col have any recollections of other UFO bands? Does Col have any recollections of Granny Takes A Trip having some kind of selling area within the club? I have got an original Hapshash poster of Pink Floyd at the UFO. Fantastic interview fellas.

I'm really glad you asked that! Yes, there were a number of 'stalls' set up in a sort of circle around the club (inside). You could buy incense, beads and all sorts of goodies. I remember a stack of bands, some from UFO some from Middle Earth and some from both! I remember clearly (for once) Procol Harem introducing us to their new song called "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" and then coming back after a week or so and saying it had gone to number one! Stacks of other bands. Purple Gang doing Granny Takes A Trip many times! Dozens if not hundreds of others. Don't know if Granny Takes A Trip had a stall at UFO but it's possible. I must sit down one day and try to remember some of the other bands I saw.

the roger waters in the flesh tour was the one with doyle bramhall 3 on guitar . that was the first waters tour where it seemed to me he was taking the musi cend of the deal seriously and trying to honor the album version live . since then he has gotten way better at the music end of it . the last few tours he was exceptionally great . i couldnt believe how good it was compared to how his band was playing the songs on his firt tour . mind you there where highlights to that ie mel collins on dsax and eric claptons guitar work . i dont see how as a pink floy fan you could skip a roger waters show . .... fuck dave gilmour , so you have that , i would have enjoyed seeing dave live as i have seen all his live dvd's but i could never afford the prices he charged for tickets . last time it was 3-600 for nose bleeds here ...

@@Fingals_Cave_Podcast Should add that I was referring to the Jan 1968 date of this "5 man Floyd" story, of course. This story was originally on Mr Turner's website and it is also in the "I was There Pink Floyd" book.
I got a lot of questions about the UFO stories too. Though I will certainly listen to the show.
