I love dancing but I can’t imagine having to go to auditions to literally pay rent and put food on the table, that would be way stressful and would probably suck a lot of the fun out of dancing.

And since you brought up the Super Bowl, it would be important to note that Gil was the creative director behind the whole thing. Tina Landon would have given Janet the show she deserved.

He just said that the selection was OPEN to different body types and genders and sexualities. Equality of opportunities always sound like oppression when you don't want your privilege to be put into question.
Large dance ensembles usually have strict guidelines to keep the ensemble looking cohesive. A director might look to cast entirely women, ages 18-24, 5'8"-5'10", or men, ages 24-30, 6'+. This director is saying he isn't looking for a specific look, but they'll all be competent dancers to get hired. He isn't offering a spot to any rando off the street without judging them adequately. White people wanna be oppressed sooooo bad
Never understood the appeal to methodical dancing (not even talking about auditioning), seems to attract the same kinds of people also (and im not talking about sexuality or "race"). But if they enjoy it, more power to them hu.
