Mike Stern Super Band

Here is some RAW video from the Mike Stern Super Band down at the Birchmere, it was one heck of a jazz-rock, jazz fusion, jazz masters event.
Mike is an absolute treat to listen to, especially Live because he sounds exactly like he does on his albums it's straight up wide field stereo guitar right in your face, totally grooving it the whole time.
Mike was accompanied by his wonderful wife Leni on lead, rhythm guitar, and vocals the back-and-forth between the two of them between lead guitar and rhythm guitar is something you must see Leni is quite the amazing guitarist just like her husband Mike.
Tonight was pretty special in its own right it was the first time that Gary Grainger (Bass) and Mike had played together in fact in the photos there's a shot of them warming up, that's the very first time they got together and traded some licks.
Dennis Chambers on Drums and Bob Franceschini on Sax filled out the rest of the band and those two guys are probably the most powerful combination you could ever have with Dennis's triplets and keeping the grooves going and Bob's incredibly powerful, I mean powerful Sax playing brought this whole band together, and it was really special.
Mike is playing this weekend in Baltimore. I suggest you go and keep an eye out for this band in the future they are extremely good together.
Mike is a true legend of jazz guitarist, and when these Jazz cats come around you, got to get out and go see them.

Always nice seeing Mike, Leni (spelling?), who I've chatted with a few times at the bar, and the band. Mike lives here in Greenwich Village and used to run into him often at The 55 Bar until they closed their doors around a year ago. Love Mike's singular style of his fusion on the six strings wrapped around a piece of wood. Pretty amazing stuff. Thanks for posting.
