    Interesting - he just happens to be crossing, in opposite direction, the same area as Noraly (Itchy Boots). In such a huge world, It'd be amazing if they crossed paths.

      @@mkoadventures yeah, I've had a DJI Mavic Pro II for a few years. You still have to figure it out and make sure your settings are right so obstacles get avoided etc. My favorite lesson learned story I read was a guy flying his drone down low in a canyon, he was above it. He lost contact with it and it did what it was programed to do and fly up 100ft to return home. But 100 from where it was was still in the canyon. i guess he had it in the wrong mode and the sensors were off and it flew right into the canyon wall to try and come home

    You've got nerves of steel on those bridges, man. Such great scenery and such great roads you found. Not to mention the coffee! I'm really pleased to see that the camping options are so good too. I'm also interested in hearing about Cargorider. Were you happy with them? Did you need a reservation way ahead of time? Thanks very much and keep having fun!

      I had a guy experience with Cargorider. No hidden fees, super easy and they took care of everything. I was just ushered around. Super easy. I've been in touch with them since I had an idea for this trip but for the actual booking, I think I have them a week notice.

    Hi Mko, great video. Thanks a lot for taking me with you on your travels.
    Just a quick question: would you go for an African Twin again for a next - similar - travel?
    We did Belgium - Tanzania in 2006 with two AT's and I wouldn't do it again with this type of bike because of the weight.
    Planning to do Alaska - Ushuaia in 2026 so your ideas really help!

    • @mkoadventures
      @mkoadventures  2 года назад

      I'm really enjoying my Africa Twin. It has taken a LOT of abuse from me and it just goes. If I had a smaller bike (like 150cc) I would probably attempt riding BR319 south from Manaus during a rainy season. Otherwise, I've taken this beast everywhere and it never disappointed. I'm also on a limited time so comfort has been a consideration for me on those days when I'm riding a lot

    Hi Mko, loving the journey so far, I wanted to know if you could give us some information on the shipping company or airline you use to ship your bike to Columbia and from where in Panama did you find this company. I also wanted to know because I see you camp a lot just like I do and I always carry camping knives and a little machete for when I’m camping to Chopwood things like that, did you have any problems if you carry knives like that passing through the borders like Mexico and other countries?

    • @mkoadventures
      @mkoadventures  2 года назад +2

      I used Cargorider and most use their service. It's known in moto community. They did not care what was on the bike. Camping gas, fine. Knifes, fine. Yeah they don't care. For other countries, I kept my knife in my side bags. In Mexico especially, a pocket knife in your pocket is considered w weapon, I think. Not that anyone would search you anyways

      @@mkoadventures just watching itchy boots , taking boats ,looked like you have to do your own paperwork on line... though I think I'd rather fly ,looked dodgy even on her 300cc .

    • @mkoadventures
      @mkoadventures  2 года назад +2

      I should have clarified, Panama to Colombia, flying is the only option now. The other way, still possible. Paperwork is fairly straightforward. It's just the Colombian aduanas no longer want to accept bikes on boats coming into their country. But yeah, they had sail boats good back and forth, a plush 5 day ride. That got shut down. That is why itchy boots had to take some dodgy lanchas across. And that looked dodgy af.

      Totally. Being on a motorbike makes me more approachable. People are very curious. After all, I'm exposed to all the elements and not boxes in. While stopped in traffic, I have been invited to stay at people's homes in Panama and Colombia. If it wasn't for COVID, I would take them up on the offer. Also, lane splitting shaves of hours of commute, especially here in Colombia

I've ridden 3 BDRs (backcountry discovery routes) and realized that I no longer like aluminum panniers so I switched to soft bags. Anyways, there are lot of details that smaller trips will help you realized what works and what doesn't. Good luck. Our bikes are awesome!

      Been busy traveling and I didn't have a chance to work on a next video yet. I've been spending a lot of time on boats in the amazon and it's not the most conducive place to get any work done.
      I crossed in Calexico. It was super chill. There are two crossings there, I took the east one because aduanas are at the border instead of somewhere in town.

      I drove a little Daihatsu suv there with three embera natives. One of those guys had me pay a bar owner a $20 so the car would be there when we returned. The bar owner had a lockable court yard. We went deep into the Darien by boat and stayed in a village for several days. The purpose of the trip was to look at a timber sale that the World Wild Fund had funded. We saw trees that were 8 feet or more in diameter at 6 feet. It was a great trip.

      @@mkoadventures It was in late 2006. The road from about Torti was dirt with very little gravel on it. The little suv was able to straddle one rut by putting one set of wheels in the road center and the other, outside the rut, otherwise it would have been a really rough go.
