      @@SecondCasey24 The Dead covered this too. It's like an early 1900-1920's song. I believe Delaney and Bonnie showed the Dead this song during Festival Express. Toby and Davvy on RUclips do much better than ol John Mayer over here tbh.

    I've always loved that John Mayer was so easy to hate on, and was such a humble good dude with more talent then the all the haters could ever discount. It's such a beautiful thing. It's like God giving a middle finger to all the haters.

    John Mayer is of course fantastic, here, but props to the band -- the bass player, especially, but the backup singers, steel guitar, and everyone else, too, laying down such a groovy, many-layered foundation -- they really add a lot and make the song.

    Mayer is so incredibly talented most don't realize. I've watched Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, and Doyle Bramhall all just so very happy John's talent will carry on the blues rock bad ass guitar playing.

    In 2022, whenever I hear JM do this song I always hope that he is not feeling bad as he sings about being treated. No one should be treating this man badly at all, anytime. He's a true gift to us all, to be appreciated. I really hope this is not a reflection of reality for him, but rather a song that he enjoyed jamming for pleasure. Love him madly, don't want him really hurting ❣❣❣

      It's an old American standard. Been covered by countless artists. Most notably the grateful dead, of course. Check out their version. Especially their version of "not fade away" into "going down the road". It. Is. Sublime.

      Boozoo Chavis the guitarist makes the rig sound good, not the other way around... Kinda like just because I have the same clubs as Tiger, I'm still not a PGA TOUR player. He could take your Squier strat, shitty line6 amp and melt both our faces off with it. He can be an acquired taste, a little easy to hate on, but no matter what anyone says about the dude he is a brilliant musician and one of the top 2 or 3 guitarists of his generation.

    Very nice indeed!! He seemed to capture the feel of the way I've always heard it played. Sounded alot like Richard Forrest Betts. Sweet , soulfully, ravishing tone. I see why Clapton speaks so highly of his playing.
