John Mayer is of course fantastic, here, but props to the band -- the bass player, especially, but the backup singers, steel guitar, and everyone else, too, laying down such a groovy, many-layered foundation -- they really add a lot and make the song.
Mayer is so incredibly talented most don't realize. I've watched Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, and Doyle Bramhall all just so very happy John's talent will carry on the blues rock bad ass guitar playing.
In 2022, whenever I hear JM do this song I always hope that he is not feeling bad as he sings about being treated. No one should be treating this man badly at all, anytime. He's a true gift to us all, to be appreciated. I really hope this is not a reflection of reality for him, but rather a song that he enjoyed jamming for pleasure. Love him madly, don't want him really hurting ❣❣❣

He could take your Squier strat, shitty line6 amp and melt both our faces off with it. He can be an acquired taste, a little easy to hate on, but no matter what anyone says about the dude he is a brilliant musician and one of the top 2 or 3 guitarists of his generation.
