I really feel the opposite though, I feel that ever since the festival director pooja took over - I think there's a lot of cyrillian vibes in it - even this year theme focuses on his poetry. Just because is being run by a female director , SWF do not just promote on feminism, in fact SWF festivals contributes to a diversity of topics of over 200 events - from the controversial to the comedian - last year they promoted on culture through food - this year they focus on country focus using different voices to embody the theme, that's what makes up the festival - the open dialogues of different conversations is what SWF has been doing. no hate to all you Cyril Wong fans - is just that during YKC's time as a festival director his themes revolves around the language - like SAYANG/ ARAM - I feel that the essence is being lost when its being centralised on a literary icon that the essence is being lost in the midst. I kinda miss the past festivals tbh but the good thing about SWF under pooja is that she brings in the content for GEN Z / youths. So is a added bonus for the future generations.
Is it a writing or speech? Sup with female voice? No male voice? Is this event promoting feminism?
