He may have only been on the show for one season, but Lee Norris, aka Stuart Minkus, has lived in our hearts for decades.
Lee sits down with Danielle, Rider & Will to talk about the ups and down of child stardom, the life lessons he learned from being on BMW and what it’s like surviving a huge earthquake after just moving to California.
Their time together was cut short in 1994, but for this episode the 4 are back together and reminiscing about some of the best times of their lives. And we find out if David Fincher is a Minkus fan.

It's so crazy to hear that Lee Norris was only on the show for one year. I would not have remembered it that way. Minkus was such an iconic and stand out character. One of the best moments was Minkus coming back for the graduation episode and calling attention to the fact that he just kind of disappeared.

Well he was in the other part of the school. You know, Cory, Topanga, and Shawn didn't go over there.
I love that Minkus said in the graduation episode that he went to the 'other' side of the school, pointing to the fourth wall.

Lee Norris seems like just the most wholesome and genuinely good person. This was an absolute joy to watch.
I LOVE that he talked to each one individually to give praise and share experiences. So intentional with that connection
I was amazed to learn that Minkus was only in the show for a single season; he is such a stand-out character! Such a shame that aging the show up tonally is what led to him being removed. I think it would've been nice to see Minkus coping with being shorter amid the other boys going through growth spurts, trying to change his image, and getting an episode with a proper good-bye acknowledging that friends grow apart to explain why he would be leaving the show.
Minkus was great. They should have sent his character off to college as a young genius instead of junior high if they were going to write his character out.

As someone who just recently binged the series, I agree. It is a vastly underrated series.
It’s crazy how much I actually adore Minkus. I remember thinking it was a loss that he didn’t come back and was so excited when he came back for the high school graduation.

Like... Him coming back in GMW was necessary as a throughline.
What's interesting about the power of that character is Minkus was only in the first season but everyone remembers him as strongly as they do all the seven-season main characters.
As a super fan, this does not diminish my love of the show. It makes it deeper, to be honest.

Will's statement at 7:30 ish mark is exactly why I love this podcast. I love the show as the show, but getting to know the cast behind the scenes and the authenticity of the people involved in making the show just adds so much to the experience. I feel like I grew up as a friend in this group. Even if I knew nothing of the show, I could see myself enjoying just hanging out with these guys.

I love how naturally funny y’all are, and I understand why Eric was funny comic relief cause Will saying “shirts with mugs on them” gave me that Eric vibe humor and it like naturally funny. I listen to the podcast during work since I work in a small room and it helps me focus and I laugh out loud in each one such a good podcast of a show I love and care about
Lee Norris was so great on the show and I think not bringing him back for season 2, etc was a huge mistake. He is such a class act and y’all need to bring him back for another interview.
When the whole cast says they never should have let him go, felt that. Dude made a big mark in just 1 season

I remember the Torklesons (Dorothy Jane, Steven Floyd, Ruth Ann, Chuckie Lee, and Mary Sue), then Almost Home, where we lost two of the original kids, and added Brittany and Jason (With all those names, you'd think there'd be more of them!). And then I remember seeing Minkus, and it was just like seeing an old friend. Minkus was not Chuckie Lee, but they did have a few similarities. I love watching these podcasts, and hearing all the behind the scenes stuff.
Boys Meets World was pivotal
in my life. I was born in 1985 so I am several years younger than the cast so I naturally looked up to them. Now my kids (10, 7, 4, and 2) love watching them on Disney Plus. Mr Feeny and Mr Matthews still teaching the next generation!

I was born in 2003 and always preferred Boy Meets World over Girl Meets World
I was so sad when Girl Meets World was canceled. It was such a good nostalgia trap and it really feels like it was getting into gear for some good character arcs
Life isn't easy and I am in my 40s and remember watching this show on Fridays and how it made me feel back then. I've been trying to find something that I can watch that makes me feel comfort and I started with your podcast and going to Disneyplus to start from season 1 to go all the way through. It's actually part of my self-care routine! Thank you for doing these!

Took me a minute to realize that, that was Minkus from Boy Meets World when I saw him for the first time on One Tree Hill.

This was such a great podcast episode. I loved watching the Torkelsons at my grandmother’s house growing up. I remember I was about seven years old and I was so intrigued by Lee Norris and thought how great of an actor he was. I loved his character on BMW. His scenes were my favorite. I’m glad he came on the pod and happy to hear he’s doing well!
Awww, Lee is so sweet. I’m so glad they brought him back for girl meets world. After hearing this interview I’m a little disappointed he was let go after the first season. He deserved more episodes

I love this podcast! The way they fangirl/boy over each others performances and professionalism is just so amazing and gains my respect.
Idk why but I just love hearing praise coming from peers and colleagues, it gives such a depth of respect for each others art!
I was today year's old when ... 1) in an earlier Pod episode it was mentioned William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) is the voice of KITT on Knight Rider ... can we say oblivious?!? I feel soooo dumb... I never connected the dots. Mind Blown! 🤯; AND, 2) I always thought the Minkus and Topanga actors were real live brother and sister. To me, they had similar physical characteristics. Once more, mind blown. Interesting thing, I'm 54 married male, father of three, and although I watched bits and pieces of various BMW episodes, I've never watched one from start to finish. However, I'm familiar with the show's premise and characters, so I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to fully know and understand the show, the episodes and the BTS first-hand commentary of the 3 hosts and their guests. I'm sure I'll continue to get mind blown as I continue with subsequent pod 'sodes (or 'podes). Great job!
PS: Now I wish more actors did similar podcasts of their shows. Perhaps one of you can take the initiative to create a podcast or introduce new podcasts modeled after yours of and about other 80s and 90s TV shows. I'm retired. Contact me for other ideas, coordinating, creating, etc. 😁

I always did find it a bit strange they moved him out the frame to have him randomly reappear in the graduation episode. even though I literally watched Lee since Torkelsons, he will forever be Mouth to me

William Russ played Alan Matthews in Boy Meets World actually. Peter Tork came on as a funny/annoying little man called Reginald Fairfield in the episode where Eric and Cory try to throw a rave and wedding anniversary party for their parents. Peter Tork and The Monkees save the day as the band :)

I wish they had kept Minkus. It would have been great to see Minkus get to high school, get a girlfriend, and graduate at least, then if they wanted to let him go. One year wasn't enough.
He went on to marry one of Shawn's girlfriends Jennifer Bassett, so maybe there would've been an episode about their relationship while they were in High School.

Lee's first audition for Michael Jacobs sounds a lot like the episode where Eric transitions from theater to acting on television and is saying all of his lines in a very over the top theater way. I wonder if Michael remembered this incident with Lee and worked it into the show.
