One can only but admire Miles's butter-smooth turns of phrase and extended vocabulary. What a pleasure it is to listen to his beautifully enunciated drivel.
Among the frequent guests, Bob Mortimer spins the best yarns (he might arguably deserve that title just from the oddball names of his cohorts); Claudia adds the most charming embellishments; and Miles provides the best banter and reactions. Never do a season without all three appearing at least once.
Greg Davis is part of that group too. I love Gregs stories. Miles, though interesting, cannot convince the others correctly. All his lies are seen through. Richard Osman is good too.
Why not go on social media and address the talent, producers, and distributors directly as opposed to posting on a streaming platform not associated with any of these???
The debate about the Hippo width always bothered me. Nish's original question was about how a hippo would fit through the door so of course Miles would respond with its width, unless it had slid into the room sideways. I know, it's an old clip and nobody cares but I needed to get it off my chest!
Same here. Plus the fact that Miles says that he only saw it from behind and yet they still criticise him about measuring in width - how could he measure in length if he never saw it side-on in the first place? (I know he never actually saw it at all in the end, but I share your frustration that this is specifically what they pull him up on.)
@@julbarrier To be fair, it’s almost worth the irritation of their (lack of) logic in their questioning since Joe does land the snake joke really well. 😅😂
Miles Jupp is one of the wittiest guests on WILTY, that's why they give him some of most ridiculous lies cause he is very creative and funny trying to sell them, he's funny when it true too.
whereas they don't need to feed Bob Mortimer ridiculous lies because his truths are weirder than fiction anyhow lol I love Miles on this show though, especially when he's put against Lee, his witty comebacks are a gift xD
“Nobody measures animals by width” in fairness to Miles, you questioned the size of the hippo regarding its ability to walk through doorways. Up to a point, nose-to-tail length is irrelevant
Camping tip/hotel tip (especially if they have them available in a cheap buffet and you want to eat in your room: Those multi pack single serve cereal have a wide H-shaped perforation on one side to use it like a cereal bowl. No seepage issues as the bag is basically waterproof and holds the milk. Much better than opening it up by the top. I don't do this, but I've noticed this on the box in the past. I had forgotten how funny Miles was in these.
FYI, we bought a maytag dishwasher that only puts out 50decibels of noise. Basically the noise level of light rain. You can't hear it if you are in another room at all. It also cleans like a champ (burnt on lasagna doesn't stand a chance!)
the second bit about the book and 'Nice and Spicy,' really came off well, and it was believable, on its own, if Miles was known as a writer. He played his hand well, but there are other factors at play, thats what made it obviously false.
Every time David says "my instinct says it is a lie/the truth" he seems to be wrong (watch the 2 egg stories from Bob). David should copy George Constanza and do the opposite ("if every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right")
In a way it's flattering to Miles that they give him the sort of ridiculous obvious lies that usually only Lee gets but (in both cases) they know they'll make very entertaining even if doomed to failure.
I agree, someone should have asked him to play it out. 20 strokes? Takes about three strokes to rid yourself of the drops before applying a towel, 20 is just redundant. And 50 on the head? Really? Go on then, 50 times, we'll wait... Most people couldn't even COUNT to 50 without getting bored. However, fair to say that Miles is hilarious, and was given some really sucky cards with ridiculous stories to defend. Glad he won some in the end!! That crack about aspiring to Cliff's lifestyle, for example; a really good comedian will start a sentence knowing there's something funny on it's way but not knowing themselves yet where it will go. They just start talking, and something funny comes out, all by itself. That's why they sometimes crack up and laugh at themselves, they were themselves surprised at what they were saying and how funny it was :-)
@@askeslI’d never seen him before and have indeed have skipped all the way through because I agree with @budte - this “Jupp” character is pointless and irritating!

You used a lot of big words there and because I don't understand them I'm gonna take them as offence.

Miles Jupp and Bob Mortimer always make me smile. I love it when Miles finds something funny and has a really good belly laugh.

I would chose both Bob and Miles but swap Claudia for Joe Lynham.

jingle bells, though, are both spherical and I guess also bell shaped, so it's not a very useful descriptor
Not true. A cat bell is spherical.

Among all the stories, the drying system was the most unbelievable! 😅
I love it when this guy appears on this show
"Where does she stand on the hoover?"
That's not how it works. 😅
Robs set up for that joke is underrated too. He does that a lot

I was caught out on all of them.Miles is so charming I believed all of his stories, except the one that was true; and I got that one wrong too! 😂
Best host of The News Quiz showing his straight man skills to perfection.
I love how in the first clip Miles and Mortimers clothes are exact opposites of each other.
The Hippo story is legendary
Miles comes 2nd only to Bob .Love the way he corpses .We saw him a couple of years ago in the Lavender hill Mob - brilliant. wILTY is brilliant
Miles Jupp is brilliant - I can’t believe I watched him in BALAMORY with my niece 20 years ago, then THE THICK OF IT!!!
You measure a animal by width if you are asked how it fit through a door or something
A tense evening had been had by the Team Mitchell
just an accent 😂 and a University of Edinburgh education (and 5 kids!?!)
I love Joe but his objection to the hippo measuring was very unjust. That was the relevant orientation for both the point of view and the doorway.
I don't think I've ever noticed his tendency to wear denim shirts before this.
Love Miles Jupp he spins a pleasant whimsical yarn! 💛

Sad to see Heston here and contrast it with the clip I saw recently of his current health situation. Wish him a full and speedy recovery.
The nice n spicy anecdote reminded me of the brilliant mitchell and webb sketch about chip n pin
Same!
7:58 dear oh dear Miles, you really set yourself up for that one
Every kid in Australia would put milk straight into the little cereal packets and eat it like a pouch.
This is true.
I believe you, but I would have brought up the idea of, those packets would not satisfy an adult for breakfast, so it must be a lie!
