i should go back and volunteer again.. once covid is finally gone.. i remember i helped paint the maintenance shop sign and helped on train excursions and helped clear brush off the side of the tracks. it was hard work but it was fun.. ( i want to help smitty with 136 as a fireman.. once shes up and awake again.. or hell even help put her back together.. )
136 is back from restoration! sad I wasnt able to volunteer much with work on a class 1 Railroad took up too much of my time.. BUT I did see it is scheduled to run Oct 8th!
I wonder if Rapido Trains Inc. will do an HO Scale special run in the future with 1057 and 136 as well some coaches in South Simcoe Railway paint scheme?
I took a tour on that train back in 2018, and the seats are so close together that you bang your knees with the person who is sitting opposite of you, and I am only 5' 9" tall, considered to be a 'SHORT' male by most standards. Unless they make more room for the legs of the passengers, I would NOT recommend it. Yes, the train ride is fairly short, but it would be okay and worth the money if there was a small covered standing area at the far end of the line (fenced to keep kids from wandering too far away), so that the train could just stop at the end, and have the passengers get off, walk around for 5 minutes, then get back on again. That would make it seem as if you actually went to some destination. But no, you just stay seated, and it is a bit of a disappointment.
