- South Simcoe 4-4-0 136 leads tourist trips out of Tottenham, Ontario on the 4.7-mile long South Simcoe Railway.
The 136 was built in 1883 for then-newly-formed Canadian Pacific Railway. The 4-4-0 has had a long and eventful history. From assisting in the construction of the first Canadian transcontinental route to starring in various movies and television productions, the 4-4-0's 140-year career is nothing short of impressive.

Even at 140 years old, she's still proving to be a reliable steam engine as ever. Great job as always.
Thanks
This locomotive with this rake of cars just screams "the train you would see if you saw a ghost train in real life." And I love it.
Too bad it was its last year on that boiler, wonder if the railroad will gather funds to build a new one or put her on display
Nice video. I’d like to see 136 someday.
Certainly worth the visit
It is great to see one of my favorite steam locomotives in the world. Continuing to run after 140 years. Great work is always. RailYard
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool video! Nice to see 136 along the South Simcoe Railway 👍
Glad you enjoyed
This locomotive's whistle was used as a stock whistle sound
i believe porter from thomas and friends uses this whistle but 20 steps higher in pitch
A trip at the South Simcoe Railway in Tottenham, Ontario, Canada with their Canadian Pacific 136 (A 4-4-0 “American” built by the Rogers Locomotive Works in 1883).
One of the very few operating 4-4-0s that isn't a replica!
i don't know what it is about this particular locomotive but, any time I watch a video of 136 I get a sense of contentment
Greetings from England, I've heard about the South Simcoe Railway in Ontario, Canada & their steam locomotive, No.136, it's such a wonderful engine, I just want to know, is 136 still running, last I heard she was out of action and was undergoing a rebuild sometime ago, I would love to go over to Canada to see & ride on the South Simcoe Railway, especially Steam Engine No.136. Fantastic video by the way.
The engine is now out of service. The video was filmed just before she exited service pending a rebuild.
What camera/lens do you use?
The shot at 2:1 looks particularly fantastic!
Its a Lumix S5. Though, theres a great deal more that goes into making the videos and the 'cinematic' shots than the camera and lens. We actually have a channel all about teaching that. youtube.com/@everettmeehling?feature=shared
The 4-4-0 is my favorite wheel arrangement!

Fantastic the 4-4-0 steam locomotive with its passenger train. Thank you for showing me.
Glad you enjoyed
Wonderful cinematography and colors. What camera and lens was this shot with? Looks really really good.
Thank you. This was shot on a Lumix S5. We also operate a channel deducated to teaching cinematography as it applies to railfanning - a great deal more than just the gear goes into a production like this. youtube.com/@everettmeehling?feature=shared
I was there that day, I talked to you.
It was a good train ride.
