- Its not to often in todays day that you get to witness a steam locomotive touring right close to home. When I heard word that 2816 was making a tour so close to home I just had to get out there and get some footage if it. What an amazing experience and thing to witness. This locomotive has been very nicely restored and sounds amazing. I hope you enjoy the video, the link below will show you the route that she's taking on route to Mexico City, as well as lots of other great information about her story. If you have the chance to see it along the way, you will not be disappointed. Thanks for watching as always folks, Ill see you all again soon.

Some of the most stirring steam train footage i've seen on all of RUclips (and there's lots!). Fantastic and unique shot staging, showing off the Empress' running gear, which is what steam lore is all about...South Sask and a beautiful Canadian designed / built Hudson steam locomotive restored to it's original glory is something to see, what a wonderful world we live in. Thanks to CPKC for making this happen. Now, they MUST restore a Selkirk!
Thanks for watching - im glad you enjoyed the video. It was a lot of fun chasing her down and seeing her running down the rail. A sight I’ve never really experienced before as steam locomotives were long retired when I was born. I was born in the wrong era. Thanks again for watching and for the kind words.
It’s a travesty how the Selkirk in Calgary is just rotting outside. No care at all for her. I would love to see her running too but sh would be a beast to restore and move back to the mainline. We can dream though!!!
Steam power is so cool.
Thanks for watching Luke! She’s a beautiful train!!
Hey thats a great video Nathan...thanks for sharing this 👍🏻🍻
I’m glad you enjoyed Lee, thanks as always for watching I really appreciate it.
Nice work on all of the filming and narrations my friend! 😎👍 That's one slick looking train. Thanks for sharing and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
Hey there pal! Thanks for watching and for the kind words and Man isn’t she a beauty!!?? I love the paint scheme! Have a great weekend my friend hope you’ll be able to work on something.
Sounds correct. They were hauling ore off of the Iron Range into Duluth with steam into the 1960s.
Incredible torque.
Thank you Nathan.
Thanks for watching Bryce, it’s amazing how much power steam has in it!!
I have a HO model 4-8-4 Hudson style engine plus one or two other types. Keep the models in my wife’s old China cabinet. 😂. Got to love steam engines.
Thanks for watching Dave! Sounds to me like you have the right kind of stuff in a China cabinet.
Me too! I have the Royal Hudson and 2 CP diesel in your wife's old China cabinet.
Thank you! Great editing and good shots. Loved the information too.
I really appreciate you watching and I’m glad you found the video entertaining. Take care
Beautiful runpasts (runbys); lots of work here.
Here's the appreciation of one who's been trackside for 60 years, watching CN, CP and others (and trill does; but is not a foamer.
Wonder why CPKC left their hydrogen fuel cell loco behind?
In a video of the departure from Calgary (available here); the Green hydrogen fuel cell loco is clearly seen, spliced within the consist, ahead of the FP units.
Let's opine, that it was more useful for data and revenue service in Western Canada; rather than on a publicity trip, and likely uncoupled at Moose Jaw; for return to Calgary, as part of head end power for a revenue train.
Hello thank you for watching and for the great comment. The hydrogen locomotive was uncoupled at Medicine Hat AB and from what I heard it was only along for the ride to do with something provincial government related. I personally think it looks better without it as far as authenticity goes, and I think made for much better pictures too. Thanks again for watching
Great video Nathan. I love those old Iron Horses. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!
Thanks very much for watching and leaving a comment. Take care
Very well done love this video
Thanks for watching
7:49 great video son good description
Thanks dad glad you enjoyed it
BEAUTIFUL piece of equipment!! Are they gonna set it up as a tourist train crossing Canada? Like the Orient Express? Just cant replace the feel and sound of a steam engine!
O have no idea what the future plans are for this train once it’s back from its journey - that would sure be a cool experience to ride in it though. Thank you for watching.
Thanks for the video Nathan! Pretty cool train! We had a huge steamer gone thru the rail in my town a few years ago. Wasn’t supposed to stop but did because of the new railroad crossing they put in right before it came thru
Thanks Gene, yah it’s a beautiful train. Was it the Union Pacific’s Big Boy that went through your town? That ones on my bucket list to see one day! Thanks for watching.
@@ironman3406 sure is a beautiful train. Yep that was the one that went thru here. Your welcome!
Thanks Nathan,well done.👍
Thanks for watching Les!! Glad you enjoyed.
Seems Ironman and I both like the Iron horses :)
Well, it seems YT won't let me comment on this one. So I'll see if I can get it by replying to Paul.
Always love seeing old iron!! She is absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you Nathan!!
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin RUclips seems to be having more and more bad days
@@paulhammond7489 that's an understatement..lol.. used to be really good, before gooble took it over.
Thanks for watching Paul / I just really like and appreciate things if the past. We wouldn’t be where we are today if not for the equipment of the past.
Thank you for watching Ed - it’s a beautiful locomotive and I’m sure glad I got the chance to see her and share it with all of you too!
I saw you on the Saturday of that show. Also are you the guy running the ww2 catipillar d4 at sukanen threshing bee. Of so I wished you good luck
Thanks for watching - it’s
Not my D4 but I ran it through the pulls for my friend who owns it yes.
Correction. The second tender is on loan from the friends of the 4449. Which run and take care of SP GS4 4449. It's her Auxiliary tender and is from a cab forward
My mistake thanks for the clarification - I didn’t think I said all
3 tenders belonged to her, just that she had 3 for the water requirements. If I misspoke though, I’m man enough to admit my mistake. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video other than that?
Yeah it was nicely done.
Great video so cool there is a old train close by here it’s in French lick Indiana that does a short trip for tours I’ve always wanted to go but never did yet thanks for sharing
It was one of the coolest things I’ve been able to see in my life. Thanks for watching
