I was in same confusion between Sonet & Seltos. Finally took Seltos HTK+ Diesel for 17L which is 1.5L higher than Sonet Diesel AT. I tried almost all Mid size SUV and SUV’s like Creta & Carens , Seltos. But I could clearly feel difference in comfort, Driving, suspension etc way better than Sub4 SUV’s. Finally took Seltos IMT-HTK+ diesel . Happy with my decision. Even in worst road conditions Seltos saves our back and spine effortlessly along with decent mileage , lesser engine noise etc….gem to own it.

Thank you Motowagon. Can you do one video to clarify the below queries.
    1) Leather seat comes only with top end. Do we need to put after market leather seat or keep with original fabric seats. Because we lost some comfort in after market(AM) seat covers also changing one oem seat costs the same as AM seat covers.
    2) In today’s world, dash cam is necessary in all cars that will help us legally. Also it costs very less. Is this a mandatory accessory now?
    3) Also installing aftermarket tyre pressure monitoring sensors in OEM tyres will make any trouble or not?
    4) What’s your opinion on led headlights? i am against changing oem electrical/mechanical parts but few are preferring to install after market led lights.
    5) What is the safe speed in highway for peaceful life? just extra 20/30 km/hr costs many life’s.
    6) How to maintain a car with good as new (not possible technically) but need tips. Even though we serviced the car at regular interval at authorised service centre. Need good tips like you said i will wash the car even at outstation (tindivanam lodge car washing at that time of velu sir meet)
    7) How to increase the fuel efficiency in both manual and automatic cars. Some tips will help us if you know any 😅
    8) I don’t believe in ceramic coating and all. Is it really worth or it’s just a gimmick (like asir’s words)
    9) With immense of knowledge about cars, why don’t you open a used car sales (like maruti true value). Just a virtual showroom in website with vehicle info health & wealth. You can act between a buyer and seller. Today scanning machine and certified authorities will provide scores.
    10) What your team future plan? (Sorry just want to know asirs team future. Unga mela ula akarai la keten)
Merry Christmas and Advance Happy New Year for Asir and Team. I wish and pray for 1 M subscribers soon in 2023 not just 3L 😊

Both the Sub 4m and mid-size SUV in our countries are mostly toy cars ...underpowered, lacking 4 Wheel drive. These toys just have high ground clearance that can assist in toppling the car at the slightest hint of trouble. Hence amongst these atrocities the mid size SUVs are relatively safer to drive on our roads due to their larger wheelbase helping in a more stable drive as compared to the sub 4m SUV.

As usual another great and sensible podcast by MW. Rounded up almost all the points to consider, before deciding on buying a Sub four meter SUV or a compact SUV.
To add to the above content, if you are someone who is not averse towards buying an used car, you can find a decent 2-4 years used Top Variant mid size SUV of your choice in the used car market, at the price point lower than that of a new top end sub-four meter SUV. Just have to keep patiently looking for a good pre-worshipped car. Yes cars depreciate that fast!!

You're right Sir!! When I wanted to upgrade from my 2010 i10 hatch to next car (after 12 years; 1.25 lakh kilometres), starting from i20, almost went through all cars and variants. Finally ended up choosing KIA Carens 1.4 GDI Turbo Luxury Plus variant. Driving and comfort both were our top priorities. With all 3 reclinable rows, dedicated AC vents for all seats etc., it's one of our family members now. If only 4/5 people travelling, we have ample amount of boot space. Feeling comfortable to drive, family members sitting happily on long journeys...

I initially planned for a mid size suv. I went and look creta then seltos. I test drived them, loved their engine power and space. I asked the showroom to bring it to my home to try parking space, i came to know its tedious to handle a big car. then i opted to venue and here im owning venue top end. my opinion is a bigger car though it offers better space is not for everyone. in todays city traffic and narrow road a comparatively smaller car offers quick maneuvering and easy driving. yes Engine is a big compromise but 4 people can easily accommodate with one week of luggage.

Sir, Excellent and much needed content that reflects current mindset of people . Many families in India where buying a car itself feels like a life time achievment, the name SUV itself would be enourmous thing while taking decision...I booked a Kiger RXT CVT(top end) after watching your Kiger 2022 review... My first car is a second hand Santro. I had a desire to buy a SUV as my second brand new car (Ecosport is my dream car , sad that Ford is out of India). But I did have few constraints including budget. So as per the mentioned category of people in this video (I belong to feature oriented category), Now I am compromised to a top end model of sub compact SUV still within 13L range.

Hi Asir Bro, This video connects very well to me.. When I bought a top end tiago bs6 in July 2021, I inquired the outlet for altroz mid variant which is 1 lac more(which I could afford) than tiago top end (7.17 lacs)at that time.. I additionally asked for replacing the stock 14 inch wheels with 16 inch alloys from the company, which they can't do.. This customization I can't get with TATA which we will get from Maruti.. I ended up with Tiago, but still regret missing Altroz..

Since people are moving to city, another thing to consider is traffic and parking. That’s where sub 4m suv shines. Plus it gives more mileage than mid size suv, which reduces running cost. Ex: sonet diesel mileage is 24km/l whereas seltos petrol with same price will give only 16. Plus sonet diesel produces more power than seltos petrol. If your maximum running is with 4 or 2 people, its better to go for sub 4m.

I wanted to buy a subcompact suv I decided to see the features before i buy
    My budget was initially 8-10L
    My options were
    Venue
    Sonet
    Magnite
    Kiger
    Punch
    Breeza 2022
And even tried to hatchbacks just for the budget glanza and i20
All i wanted is Good looks
    And premium interiot feel
    Good ground clearance
    Great boot space
    60:40 split
    Automatic preferably CVT or higher
I found kiger genuinely best in the segment with best VFM features
Because top end with all the usability comes to 12.80 onroad chennai
For that price you will just get mid base end or mid end in sonet ,Venue and breeza
Dont want to spend 15L for a sub 4 which comes under the next segment of midsized suv
And only reason I regected Magnite which has the same engine with kiger is very poor and plain interiors
As kiger and magnite share the same engine and kiger has driving modes
So dear friends if you are looking for value for money dont look at sunroof or button finishes
    Go for practicality

We are four members and have driven the vehicle 350 to 400 kms at a stretch through the ghat section also.
1.5 ltr turbo engine gives power anytime you require.
Boot space is enough for 0ne week travel.
Very low engine noise and fast cooling airconditioner with smooth ride quality makes the long travel very pleasing.

Bro but Hyundai's Venue or Kia's Sonet both match 70 - 80% of their elder siblings in road presence & respect also they hve same diesel engines with 100 & 115bhps respectively ofcourse though 15hp extra power can b felt clearly but stil a base Venue diesel or Sonets drivability is close to as good as its elder bros, its an outstanding value for money n does the job inch perfect, end of the day money savings matters a lot, most buyers avoiding base models is just lack of understanding or carriered away for higher varients by dealer sales persons, Just my opinion brother hope its genuine, Thanks

Honestly, there are exceptions. Tinkering and adding aftermarket stuff and worrying about warranty being void is not an option honestly. I have chosen Sonet as it has most of the features of Seltos + the Diesel Automatic. Only if I need the extra space I need to go for Seltos. Plus the same engine on a smaller car makes more engaging drive. Since you've called Seltos "fun to drive" to an extent, that applies for Sonet D AT as well IMO.
I would take at least mid option of any car, my brother regrets taking the base variant of Altroz. It's not as easy or straightforward, retrofitting aftermarket stuff on a car.

I took Venue SX(O) Diesel for 14.5L considering Creta SX(O) in other hand which is 5L costlier.
But now I feel I should ve opted Seltos Or Creta, literally missing the Power and Comfort what Creta/Seltos has in it.
Venue is quite good but it lags the comfort at a long strech distance.
Cabin noises are quite more in Sub 4M SUVs

As a for us my thoughts car manufacturers should give customised features for cars instead giving technology features with price hike . Like
    1. Car should have best engine with best comfort that's enough for me .
    2. I don't want touch mode just a button system enough for me to hear music at some time while driving.
    3. Damn don't heed Sun roof it's a dump feature for me .
    4. AC feature i need .
If manufacturers do this customisation based on customer it may reduce the cost .close to 1 to 2 lakhs i think . Because you have get team up with technology features company to provide their item to your car since it may can change by using customisation.

Am a sales consultant myself with a small family , am with a budget of 13lakhs, am stuck with mid-top sub 4 meter or a base petrol / seltos creta where I have to still spend for music system with camera, where as kushaq is bit costly for the ever controversial 1.0 three cylinder turbo even for the base model, point is not a single car is perfect, each car is a compromise with respect to our budget and needs, even in sub 4 meter venue has features but it's not that sprited like a xuv 300, now am either buying a w4 xuv 300 diesel and upgrading it or just buy a base creta Petrol and install music system

    Hello MG Team. Nice Topic

  • @venkatkrishnamurthy3454
    @venkatkrishnamurthy3454 Год назад +1

Very good topic. Wanted to share my views in detail...writing from the perspective of buyers like me :-)
I have been driving an i20 last 12-13 years and looking to upgrade, mainly for ingress and egress comfort and also since i20 is getting old with some mechanical issues.
My budget allows top-end sub-4m crossover for which I can also look at the entry levels of the mid-size SUVs.
However, reasons for going with sub-4m are as below
    1) Considerable jump in excise duty for 4m+ vehicles (20% vs 8%)
    2) I prefer not having to watch a long rear... though the difference could be just 20mm, I still feel it gives me better visibility and occupies lesser space on the road (public interest :-)
    3) My need is mainly for a good driver's car for city commute. Hardly 2-3 long drives in a year with a small family.
    4) I like fully loaded cars rather than going about shopping for after-market upgrades. E.g. Rear wiper is a must for me, and Alloys nearly compulsory. Sometimes additional airbags also come only with top-end variant and it's not safe to fit airbag in after-market
    5) Unless we have the right expertise, time and negotiation skills, we might be paying too much or making a quality compromise, if we go for after-market fittings.
    Thank you.

@@aravindhanv5150 Milege is decent. I have got 10 inside city and 16 - 18 on long rides.
Engine refinement is good. Sound proof is done very well.
This vehicle is meant for size and comfort. Yes, There is a power lag when compared to other SUV's. But when compared to price and features, Astor is the best. And the customer service in MG is very good. Its also one of the reason why i chose Astor.

Whether really sub 4 meter SUVs are less cost which compared to mid size suv? Because those tax in sub 4 meter it really seems doesn't feel a budget. When we see top end of sub 4 meter sonet is 17 lakh. The same is mid size SUV seltos mid varient. What is the diff in that tax, and all works done for that 3995 mm and engines less than1.2 l and 1.5 l. Due to demand of sub 4 meter SUV car makers have made high raise in these segments than mid size suv

This type of confusion is very common.
If we compare one to one with Brezza Zxi and Grand Vitara Zeta, Brezza Zxi is much value for money product than Grand Vitara. Even Grand Vitara Delta is 1.5 lakh is costlier than Brezza Zxi (on road price).
Your conclusion in general , may be right. But, may not be correct for Brezza and Grand Vitara, considering the engine ,size (Brezza is taller) and features.
Moreover, in general other than Brezza and Grand Vitara, important feature like Cruise control which can not be added later, is not available in lower variants of mid size SUVs. So, going for mid size SUV is a costlier affair suitable only for people traveling with family with 4 occupants. For city people who commute with single or two, sub 4 meter SUV like Brezza is enough.

@Asir Bro , Please make a Motocast about Bs6 Diesel vehicles (Please note that iam not asking about whether we can buy diesel engines now you and velu sir already cleared that you even replied to my comment to clarify it) , iam asking about other things like what is Adblue, Current emission stages just like you spoke about EV / Batteries like they are not necessarily "Go Green" ... Thank you...
