Just a correction I want to make about Nurse Bendy (tho the video is a few months old now so it's probably already been said) Bendy doesn't just suffer from loneliness, what she is doing is age-regression which is a type of response to trauma. She is making a make believe family out of teddy bears and she is using very childish words and acting very child-like compared to how she usually acts in the show to everyone else. This age-regression is usually done as a hold on to a more innocent time, before the trauma. Since it's confirmed that her son is half her age, that would make Nurse Bendy 24, meaning she had her boy when she was about 12. Chances are the abuse was going on before that so what we really see in the episode is a victim having her cooping mechanism ruined and tainted

Its a shame this show was cancelled for taking on serious topics. It was an adult show on an adult network and it being cancelled for being ‘too depressing’ was such w mistake bc now all these ‘depressing’ and ‘dark’ animated shows are all the rage with shows like Bojack Horseman and Rick and Morty. I really hope the creator would take the chance to finish the show it was meant to be but he doesn’t seem interested and it’s so heartbreaking :/

It was a case where the show was essentially dead in the eyes of the network and fans demanded an ending to the story. We're fortunate we got what we did and the story's ending is definitive while imperfect. You watch Moral Orel and by the end you don't have any questions what the message being put across is. The creators tried several things to keep the show alive in spirit since their story wasn't even all the way told, and so far we've gotten a couple extra episodes from their efforts

I think the theory about Doughy's parents is a little silly. We KNOW what they looked like as teenagers, and while yes they do look like they haven't aged at all and it COULD be possible they had kids that looked identical to them as teens, i feel like thats abit of a weird roundabout explanation.
The reason they look like they haven't aged at all (in my opinion atleast) is for a thematic purpose. Its supposed to represent that these people truly haven't aged MENTALLY, they refused to grow up so they could keep being high-school sweethearts without a care in the world, and when they had Doughy they obviously weren't prepared at all, so they regressed even FURTHER. They completely ignored his existence so they didn't have to come face to face with the responsibility of becoming adults.

So pretty much, the "Please" script is a fanmade script that would've tackled the Bloberta/Papermouth affair episode. It starts off with Bloberta and Clay arguing about Clay not buying Orel new crutches, then we get a small glimpse at goth Orel, followed by Bloberta losing Shapey and having to call Papermouth to help her find him. The set up isn't the same as what Dino's description said, but again, it was a fanmade script. Not a whole lot of it was written.

Absolutely not. Part of the appeal of the show is watching it slowly transform from a thematically shallow satire into something deeper, and Beforel Orel ties a nice bow on the show's arc. Watching it first is putting the cart before the horse.

I'd argue against starting with Beforel Orel. I think it works better after you've already finished the show.
Sure, you don't _massively_ spoil anything by watching it first, but there are things about it that hit harder when you have the baggage of the old show already. On top of that, some parts of Beforel Orel do slightly contradict some small things about the old show, like implying that Clay and Daniel had already been friends before the first season when it's implied in the first episode that they didn't know each other until then.

in regards to clay and daniel already being friends in beforel orel, i think they had never formally spoken, but daniel was in the process of pining for clay. this would make sense because daniel slept with bloberta and later said he needed to get closer to him. he was actively falling for clay, potentially by seeing him at the bar frequently, but never speaking to him. i think the start of their relationship is during the first episode when daniel sends clay the letter, and then things kick up from there

47:04 I think the picture is a relatively recent pic of Orel's parents, as we see grey hairs on them. My personal headcanon is that they were both so worried of the public eye and so used to each other that they simply couldn't imagine getting a divorce. Clay got dumped, Bloberta never had anyone else actually care for her, and they just... kinda settled for each other. Like how grandmas tell stories like "I absolutely HHHATED your grandpa and never wanted to marry him. It wasn't until our kids were adults that he kinda started to grow on me"

adult swim's "depressing" must have meant only when it was overlayed with comedy. the one time a show, this show, decided to put these sexual trauma topics into a much more serious light and horrific is when it got too much for them. plenty of other shows have stayed running when characters bring up this stuff just because it's not layed out disturbingly and ends off being apart of their "perverted character" or something. very upsetting but i'm sure many can appreciate the episode not making such a huge light about that and it being made then aired in the first place.

About the autism theory, Orel also has some social skills issues, and can’t understand peoples relationships with each other or with him….for instance he doesn’t understand that Doughy is being neglected, he doesn’t understand that Bloberta and Clay are a TOXIC marriage, and that Joe is a bully.
(Edit: The social skills about those relationships is a problem because Orel is old enough to notice the problems in them, since he is late elementary or early middle school. In Beforel Orel he takes everything as truth/literally as told, which is a common thing for ASD people to do, they can’t especially at young ages understand when things are literal/sarcastic/metaphorical.)
In nature as well, he flaps his hands when nervous, and in Grounded he looses his mind in an almost meltdown way, because he can’t take part in his comfort special interest.

I like to believe that Shapey and Block didn’t go into foster care but actually just grew up from their parents. At the end we see Shapey became a fireman and Block became a policeman, those two job roles follow a path of justice, isn’t it convenient that the two brothers became men of the law? I like to think that Shapey and Block always had themselves after Orel left, judging by Shapey’s first words at the end of the season it’s clear that these two were a perfect match, they both understood each other and learned from it. That should be enough to show that they didn’t need there parents, they just needed each other throughout their childhood at leas until they could grow up

Although Season 1 may have felt a bit basic, linear and even repetitive sometimes
It was overall what I'd expected when going into this show for the first time(but I think you should rewatch it for reasons I'll get into later)
But Season 2 felt like an over haul/improvement and it did a great job with introducing and bringing back various characters whilst also giving them a chance to develop in various episodes throughout the show
    And Season 3.....
NOW THAT'S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE ALL TOGETHER

I actually quite like the ending.
On one hand it does feel like a bit of a non-sequiter, since it doesn't particularly feel like anything really happened. At least not to justify it as a finale.
On the other hand, what it shows is clay losing his last hope for redemption. The one person who still cared about him, including his own son, finally putting the last nail in the coffin.
While not everything got the wrap up it needed, it did serve narratively as the last chance for anything to change. Between his vile parents, between Orel and his Father, nothing could grow from here. Things could get worse, sure, but everything was finally beyond salvaging.

Great video! As a huge Mountain Goats fan, I do want to give a few words on them.
First and foremost, The Alpha Couple saga is great though not perfectly mapped out chronology. I’d recommend listening to the album Tallahassee first, and then checking out the other Alpha songs afterwards. Tallahassee tells a complete story, and the rest of the Alpha songs tell their own individual stories. Notably, the song Alpha Omega is only questionably canon.
Secondly, Love Love Love comes from the album The Sunset Tree, a concept album covering John Darnielle’ experience with his abusive step-father. Which is why it ties so well into Clay and Orel.
I’d be surprised if the cut episode where Orel goes goth didn’t feature The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton. A song about two teenagers named Jeff and Cyrus starting a death metal band, but Cyrus gets sent to a boarding school after he gets caught with a pentagram (implied religious reasons). The song end with a Hail Satan chant.
I’d heavily recommend checking them out. The essential albums are Tallahassee, The Sunset Tree, and All Hail West Texas. Though check out their other stuff. My favorite from them is The Coroner’s Gambit. Also nearly all their albums are concept albums.

Funny thing about the first entry. When I was a kid, I legit thought Moral Orel was a robot chicken skit that went on for wayyyy too long.
Until I released it was a different show and that somehow made me believe there was some twisted dark humor that I didn’t understand yet. Since it aired around the time, the much more violent shows aired like robot chicken.
Now watching the show, I was sorta right. But not in humor.
    Awesome video btw 🔥🔥

Not saying that it confirms any theory, but it can be seen why people would speculate so from that episode, not just from his behaviour throughout the show.

I almost never see these videos about the show mention the show it is parodying, "Davey and Goliath" from the 1960's which should probably be in the top tier of the iceberg. I grew up in the hyper-conservative Protestant community watching re-runs of Davey and Goliath and seeing Moral Orel after deconstructing my faith gives it a whole other layer of meaning. So sad the show didn't get to see its full potential

I just want to mention other things that could complement this video.
1 Another theory about the name of Orel's son could be Arthur, in honor of his grandfather.
2 The angel theory is very funny and good, but it would make more sense if the punishment was to complete a life as a mortal in a very toxic family (and city), but he could only enter heaven if he ends up being a good person.
3 This last one is very crazy, I don't know if anyone else thought it, taking into account that Orel loves stopmotion, could it be that in his universe Orel is the creator of Robot Chicken?
I'm sorry if you don't understand, I had to use a translator, it's still hard for me to write in English.

12:12 hey, I just wanted to touch on this but mentally disturbed is really the wrong word here. I am not surprised or mad the general audience would jump to this considering she is talking to well, not alive objects and seems to be childish. What she’s doing is actually a coping technique for those suffering with ptsd called “age regression”. It’s a way many with ptsd stemming from childhood cope in a healthy way. Unfortunately its very misunderstood and shamed so not many talk about it. A reason Morel Orel is so amazing to me is that not only does it tackle these subjects head on, it shows accurate representations of the feelings thoughts and coping mechanisms people have. I suffer from C-PTSD my self and have used age regression coping mechanisms. Its comforting and makes up for my lack of childhood. Id really like if you made the clarification and help de-stigmatize it.

    • @ZeroOmens
      @ZeroOmens  Год назад +10

My sincerest apologises. The Moral Orel wiki used the term mentally disturbed to describe Nurse Bendy, which is where I got that information from. I had zero idea that she was actually doing a coping mechanism. That's my bad. Thank you for explaining this to me.

Moral Orel has another indie rock connection besides the Mountain Goats, as well as a connection to a classic 80s cartoon.
Britta Phillips, the voice actor for Bloberta Puppington, is a member of indie-rock band Luna (since 2006), and duo Dean & Britta, both alongside husband Dean Wareham (of Galaxie 500 fame).
She was also the singing voice actor for title character Jem in the classic 80s animated series of the same name. On that show, Jem, along with her band the Holograms, toured the world fighting evil rival band The Misfits using mystical powers derived from gems embedded in her earrings. The series ran for 65 episodes from 1985 to 88. While the series was of American origin - a Hasbro/Marvel property - it was animated by the Japanese studio Toei, which also did Transformers and GI Joe around the same time. Jem featured an early example of the “magical girl transformation” later featured prominently in the (also Toei-animated) Sailor Moon (1992) and Viz Studios’ Legendary Girl Utena (1997).
Phillips went on to voice Elizabeth Frankenstein on Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole, which was also created by Dino Stanatopoulos.

Morel Oral is definitely in contention for one if the greatest cartoons of all time, if Adult Swim had completed its five seasons. This show is one of the deepest cartoons in terms of plot development and character diversity. To center a cartoon around a religious ideation and parody Davey and Goliath is an extremely cool and original project in my opinion. And to make it a claymated project is just icing on the cake. Everything about this show was a risk taken and and an extreme effort by both the animators and storyboard teams part. I’m extremely glad this gem of a series is gaining popularity far after it was prematurely canceled.

I had heard of Moral Orel but only enough that I assumed it was a children's show about god (basically what it's satirizing). But I hadn't actually seen any of it until I was recommended a clip about Oral having to kill his dog because "he was taking away love that should have gone to god". And yeah I'm gonna be honest, I did think it was a Robot Chicken clip parodying the show. I didn't realize what the show actually was until Meromorphic's video about it
