What a humble man, absolutely loved him in Joyland he portrays it with so much realism that got me instantly attached and here I am indulging myself with more of this mans wisdom... I hope God gives him bigger platform so more knows of his talent.
What a sensible podcast! I am an Indian and have always wished to see the "sane" side of Pakistan, whether I can find that amidst all the coloured narratives from both sides. Glad to see you have become that voice/mirror of sanity by treating the finer things of life with humor and sense. Keep up the good work!
@@excaliburkz where was this sane side when you sent your men to shed blood in India in the name of Islam? 26/11, Mumbai train bombings, akshardham attacks and whatnot. Thank you for bringing him on the pod. His portrayal of Haider was very nuanced. It made me feel things that I can't express in words. The academy awards will be honoured to be associated with Joyland. Now I am waiting for Alina and Saim to come and talk about the movie.
He is my male crush. 😇Having grown up and educated in Pakistan, his English communication and accent are commendable. He is a character with such individual charm.
Thank you for this conversation. Please invite him for another conversation on the " theatre of the absurd". Also on his process of writing for theatre. I watched his " both sit in silence for a while". It was really good. Literally " breath of fresh air" in all the so called adaptions and propaganda of both sides of the binary. Thank you!
this was such a great podcast, really got to catch a glimpse of the theatre world and the process of acting, Ali was very clear in the articulation of his answers, great depth of the questions by shehzad.
Ali, you might not be good at anything but you are an exceptional actor. Haider stayed with me for long because of your class act. I really hope to see you more. You are very good looking as well. 🙂 Really good coversation.
Salam shehzad bhai. Brother please invite someone from the law enforcement or sindh police, if you can, and ask them about the ethnic based target killings still happening in karachi. More often than not poor sindhis are targeted. Just yesterday i read in dawn newspaper, metropolitan south that a guy from sanghar was killed and his body was foung in a gunny bag from qayumabad. I am not pointing towards anybody but you know mqm has a history of these kind of target killings. Please raise your voice for these poor people who are being killed just for thier ethnicity. I am sure pathans, baloch, seraikis have also been murdered in karachi including others. Urdu media on tv will never talk about this. Please use your platform for these poor guys. You can also call someone from ruling party and ask them what the hell are they doing about this evil. I hope you will respond to this message. Salam and keep up the good work.
Standard of conversation was way to heigh for me. Upaar sae Sala gaya saab.... Shezad do a podcast on theaters basics 101.. Acting, playwriting, theatrical devices for creating tension, climax, levity etc etc
I recently watched the movie and have questions from Ali Junejo. 1. Why the name of the movie was 'Joyland'. There was no joy in the film? 2. Why Mumtaz committed suicide? 3. How could a person have a romance with a transgender? 4. Was the character 'Haider' gay?
2. Why? Maybe mental illness as an outcome of her environment ? Which is rarely talked about in our communities. There was also a married pregnant Mumtaz who jumped off an apartment building in 2022 in a Gulshan Iqbal working class muhalla (May god Grant her and her child highest abode in Jannat Ameen & bring ease to her fam) 3. Someone like Haider could - he didn’t know who he was & what he wanted 4. Haider didn’t know & audience can guess - it was fluid.

Pakistan has always had a sane side. Can't say the same for our neighbours.
@excaliburkz these idiots need to take a good look in the mirror before saying shit like this lol

Even today a sindhi rangers guy was killed in karachi. This is very problematic.
He’s very much like Haider in real life too - very muted personality!
ur podcasts are probably the best podcasts in pakistan and probably even globally. Really fuck with the diverse topics and themes. Never stop please 🙏

India's selection is the last film and not rrr

Lol.. RRR was painted as Hindu supremacist cinema due to it's Hindu aesthetics until Western elites legitimised the movie.
Thanks

Loved the podcast but what's with this fake accent it's so irritating
If you visit some private schools in Pakistan, you'll see that it is not fake. Kids pick up accents .....
Thanks for saying this. I really like all these people who have so much good to say but this accent is soo annoying man.
The great James Cameron saw RRR twice with his wife. How good is that ? 😀
RRR is trash.
