Self taught at 3, can't read music and learns how to play by listening...yes all you haters are right?? Quinn has a gift and could match licks with Buddy Guy at 7 years old...Kid is crazy good and I dig his vibe!
Destined for legendary status. Fairly standard introduction for first 2 minutes. Then watch out! Impeccable choices and phrasing, incredible facility , very fluid. Definitely has the elusive “feel” down to his soul.
Those that can, DO. Those that can't, post comments on You Tube, criticize or compare the artist to others instead of celebrating each artist in their own right. For all those criticizing Quinn, may I point out that 4 days after this gig in New Jersey, he was playing with the great Buddy Guy at the Hollywood Bowl. --------->
You make all of us 60 plus year olds very happy! To see the younger generation playing the blues and actually have talent is a God send. I’ve seen your YT videos with Buddy Guy and I’m so looking forward to see what you do in future. You’ve come along way, but like Albert King said to Stevie Ray when they first played together, “son, your good but your gonna be even better”! Best wishes young man. PS. Best cover of Thrill is Gone I’ve ever heard! Love it!!
This kid truly has an amazing talent and especially for only being 14 years old!!! I don't think he should be compared to Srv, Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton because these guys are guitar gods and they have all taken their playing styles to the absolute highest standards possible. I love seeing the the passion coming out of Quinn's playing, I hope he never stops and always keeps going, it will be interesting to see what the future will bring.
And to everyone being negative, piss off. Like this kid is actually playing music and has the feel for want he's playing, at least he's not rapping about fast cars, sex, drugs, money, and more sex. This is called talent and that is called music.
His guitar playing is impeccable... his life experience will grow with time... and someday we will hear Quinn "Play the Blues." because life has a way about it of maturing even the greenest and freshest of us... but in the meantime... let him be a young extremely talented guitar player learning about his life... you can't really expect him to sing about 60 years of hard living when he is still a teenager... But I believe that if given a chance... He Will..
Exactly what I was thinking. Once he gains experience and loses innocence, his playing will evolve. I was one of those teenage Blues players and look back and see what my playing used to be, and what a difference that life-experience has made.
At his age, this is an awesome performance! As he got older he has developed his own style, while still emulating Clapton, no easy task! He has a great future.
Playing the blues takes a certain "feel" You don't have to have a suffering life to play the blues. It is music...if you have the feel for it and (this kid definitely has it) you can play it well. Just imagine when this kid gets more experience learning from some of the blues legends he is playing with(Buudy Guy , BB King) - He will keep this great music alive for years to come.
Wrong. BB king not easy to play. This kid has no soul. I'm sorry your wrong? This band and kid wreck this song. White guys don't have it? Jimi Hendrix was gift it. Jimi Hendrix told BB king I listen to you a lot. That's why Hendrix is good. You learn how to play the blues to have soul in it by turning the amp down? Its not easy? Because it has a lot of soul in it? By turn it down? It help you learn to play it better when you turn the amp up. Its the drive on the amp? You turning it down or up. I know this ? I'm guitarist my self. A lot great guitarist today can't play the Blues when the drive is down? They suck at it and trying to be fast at it and not done right to be fast at it. They been using drive amp up all the time. If u have a ear hear you can hear how bad this is in Rock music or so call White guys blues rock greats? How much they suck and can't play guitar right? Soul some times it's a gift to play the guitar. It's makes the guitar playing sound better. That's why Handrix is Number 1# in rock and hard rock and blues rock and Jimi slams over being Number #1 over dumb ass Heavy Metal Guitarist? Heavy Metal Music is Stupid rock? In blues Jimi hendrix is in the top ten. Man you got to have soul in your guitar playing? It's a gifted? I like King Fish he has soul in his guitar playing. He is young guy to? Google it or RUclips it? King Fish?
If you didn't know, Quinn is already a legend. As Buddy Guy and B.B. King's apprentice, he has learned more than most of us guitar players will in our lifetimes! I've played almost 40 years and I'll never play as good as he does now. When Quinn plays this in 10 years, it will be so great you will post that you knew it all the time!
Oops! I forgot to thank Quinn for his excellent performance. THANK YOU! Someone once said - "There are always two. A master and an apprentice. No more, no less!"
You're an idiot JediDale! Is your comment just to make Quinn feel better when he sees it? You don't LEARN the blues by talking to people, you learn it by living it. Maybe in 20-40 years Quinn might be great.....
B Chand Agreed. I was a teenage Blues player back in the late 80s (been playing guitar for 31 years)--I thought I was hot-shit. Now, nearing 40-years-old, I realize I still don't know the bullshit and strife that some of these Blues men have had shape their playing and who they are.
GRANDE QUINN SULLIVAN,ERES EL MEJOR DEL MUNDO,CADA DIA MAS FABULOSO,TE APOYAMOS CON ADMIRACION DESDE EL FIN DEL MUNDO,ACA EN CHILE,CIUDAD DE VALDIVIA CON AMOR AL BLUES
Never judge the emotional feeling or musical expression Quinn projects. When BUDDY GUY says this kid has it all I take that AS GOSPEL. I am from Chicago and I am 63 I have seen Hendrix and all the blues greats who have played or come from Chicago..And I play guitar this kid is far in his talent..They said the same thing about Joe Bonamasssa .and his dream was to play the Royal Albert Hall in 20 years and he made it happen.. So Wisdom is needed here then judgement only he knows the way he feels can anyone here say that? Have You all figured out all the riddles of life and have the answer?. Do you think You can judge brilliance can you play what he does here?
Mike O'Brien From experience producing concerts and managing touring Rocking Blues groups, playing with friends from BB to Papa John Creach, Muddy Waters and other lesser lights who are (or were) just as good doing our shows as the Dave Perkins Band, I find a lot of people writing posts through this pages that don't know what the heck they're talking about. Being a critic is easy. Being someone who really has something worth saying and reading is a much harder hill to climb. This kid was (and still is) a young teenager. How many of the people writing crap on here could even tune his guitar? I have a feeling they're mostly silly wannabes.
Freaking amazing. Dude Im from Texas. This is the biggest compliment I can give a guitarist. You are every bit as good as Stevie Ray Vaughn! Oh and I just downloaded the entire album. Every song is incredible!
Thrill ain't gone.... its just starting! This guy is already a monster - very mature playing. I love the trading fours bit with the keyboardist. I like the little Strange Brew reference he throws in around 8:40. You ain't heard nothin like the mighty Quinn!!
I am so impressed with this kid. To me, as a spiritualist, I have no doubt he is the reincarnation of Stevie Ray. I mean, watch his mannerisms, his style, his self confidence, his facial expressions. It’s all there. The only thing that pisses me off are these abusive RUclips commercials that ruin a great playlist like this one. I wish something else comes along to catch up all YT users that are fed up with this crap. Thanks for the upload! I love it 😍.
From 827 its ART...ever heard someone playing like that...? 14 years......Cant believe my ears. Blowing everyone one away...all legends and guitar heroes. On a parking place.
Dear my friend the singer. I am from germany. I listen that song by bbking all the time. Loved that!!! You are not bbking, but i still love ya voice also. You have a grat voice mate. Horrah buddie. Make your (and my) day. Great !!!! Best regarts Henner, germany
This prodigy has natural talent that you or I can only dream about, I have watched him for a couple of years and he is talented, humble and inquisitive, great tools to have. Tommy West the keyboard player should be his permanent keyboard player as they are totally in synch with each other and it shows on this clip. Tommy West used to be Jim Croce keyboard player, producer and guitarist, fabulous lineage for Quinn Sullivan. In 10 years Quinn will be the go to guy for the " Blues"
Quinn is not the new Clapton, Moore, Hendrix or SRV. He is 100% QS! At 15 years of age this year oh what a future. Best of luck in the business man. Concentrate on the music and the thrill will never go.. it just keeps burning brightly.
Why do people feel the need to criiticize in a negative way? Change the video if its not up to your standards, .. This young man is an inspiration to the younger crowd, he is playing guitar music , rather than out gang banging., etc. Quinn... is a God given star.
He is a great musician and what an honor it must of been to of been taken under the WIng of one of the greats like Buddy Guy. Unfortunately most blues men never become rich but the have a rare soul that is beautiful inside and hot. Never give up your convictions
I'm glad to hear that guitar players hear Clapton in this kids style. I really like this kid, look at him, he dresses like a kid, isn't flashy. He seems focused on the music and plays homage to all the great licks and guitar players. Let's not forget the great Buddy Guy, his influence and philosophy are just adding to this kid. He appears to have great respect for the other musicians on stage. He looked so funny that first time he appeared on stage with Buddy Guy but in that moment I saw what a giant Buddy Guy is. Buddy Guy is a very generous man and he recognized something great in this kid, I'll take his endorsement...this kid is something else!
I am in awe! He has it! I see a Blues legend future for Quinn Sullivan. Just wonder where how he attained the blues so young. The future looks promising...
What a monster. Amazing talent. Can't wait until he puts his band together, hopefully of other young cats/uber musicians and starts making his own music. I'm not suggesting that he'll "graduate" from the blues, but as he ages it will remarkable to see him carve some space that's all his own.
Great stuff!! the sincerest form of flattery is imitation. He along with many others covered the original blues classics until they found their own unique style. Others that come to mind that started at a very young age?? Derek Trucks, Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd....
the most notable difference in his display is the voice. His singing has improved, both in connection with tone balance and technical abilities. it's stabilized pretty well and with practice he can only get better. His phrasing is better too, i think he's feeling the music more rather than just playing.
Fantastic guitar player. To sing the blues is very difficult. A only very few can do that, .but this young, brilliant man, is doing his best, and that is good enough for me
On another post I saw him in at 8yrs I commented OMG perhaps there is such a thing as reincarnation after all? or like SRV he definitely is a guitar/musical SAVANT (i.e. meaning a savant is someone over-the-top smart, a scholar) certainly NO ONE can even argue of his INORDINATE EXCEPTIONAL TALENT!!! Just blows my mind really!!!!
Phenomenal player. He will continue to grow through music. I am curious if anyone knows what model of Fender is he playing. It almost sounds like a Gibson...
I saw him two nights ago at the Vancouver Island Musicfest and his voice has changed and he sounds more mature than this video. He plays awesome. He played a set before Buddy Guy and joined Buddy for the last part of his set. Simply magical!

Quinn is a remarkable person and an excellent musician, he is loaded with that passion which is required to play at that level..you rock kid.
ah yes, Quinn Sullivan, i got the honor of seeing him live, his technique is practically perfect!

See a lot of SRV and of course Hendrix influence.......
thank god someone still has good musical taste in this world, God save the blues

The future of Blues is in good hands
With chops like that he could go anywhere. Sweet vibrato. Nice runs. Oh hell yeah, this kid can play.
I hope he come to my area so I can see him live once again. Saw him at the PACin Englewood with buddy Guy. Any cd he makes I'm buying.

This boy can jam!! Thanks for sharing
i would cut both of my legs to play the guitar like he does, i will just stay at my house sitting in a chair playing blues for the rest of my life.
It's cool watching Quinn in the process of finding his grove. He's also seen and heard testing & investigating his vocal range at his age of 14 1/2. :^}
Daymn, is it possible we'll ever hear enough of the blue's from this young man!! NOT Likely!!
The fact that anyone would insult this kid...
Saw him last week in Pittsburgh. Awesome!! Hopefully his version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" will appear on here soon.
A young great musician
Awesome, but after his first heartbreak he will knock it out of the park . . . just needs a little life on him.
I love Quinn sulivan and all the blues
Sullivan has got some Talent !
Thrill is Gone, keep it alive ....
It should go on forever like that - Blues Wave. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Good playing and a feel that he is 100% invested.
And with all the comments just watched him playing with all the great guitar players including Eric Clapton Gary Clarke jnr at Maddison Square Gardens 2013 he is very good
I dont care about two beats ahead . I thank God for this , compared to the other pop stars who need a job at the warehouse than rather sing crap for millions !! He's young and great !!
