    This is really helpful thank you, I've just completed my degree and am starting my SCITT with PGCE in September. Started freaking out a little bit today but watching you break it all down has helped to calm my nerves a little bit haha

    this is a good route but you dont get QTS at the end, you then have to work towards it after the course. I love this programme but i think secondary (school direct) with qts is more benefitial. let me know what you think. :) x

    Great video! Also, nice to empathise with pupils 👍. There is a scholarship for MFL teacher training I would like to apply for, and they say successful applicants can choose to do it with a school or with a uni, but I don't know if they're talking about the PGCE. Is the SCITT part of a PGCE? Thanks.

    • @learningwithliz2661

      Hi Addellatif, it is best to contact them directly. If you're doing it through a university it most likely a PGCE where you will have longer periods of learning at the university before going to schools in comparison to being in the school from day 1 and then only going to university once a week for the first term. Hope this is helpful x

    from the days you spend at uni to get your credits towards a masters, are you having to do uni assignments or modules for this? even though its a school led approach? I want to do a school led approach like such as school direct salaried, but i'm unsure what the uni side actually entails within a school led approach! I keep looking at all this different information on the different approaches to teacher training and i'm get myself confused, please can anyone help?

      Thanks for your comment! The SCITT have changed their provider this year but from the uni side of the course we had to do one group presentation and a 4000 word essay! That was the whole of the assignment side of the uni course. And then for the first 6-8 weeks on Friday mornings we would go to the university campus and listen to lectures and a seminar afterwards! I hope this has helped :)

    When do applications open to start in September 2021. I don't have any school experience yet and if applications open in a couple of months in October 2020 how am I meant to get experience before then, escpecially during these uncertain times.

      I understand. Potentially this year things may be different due to Covid19. My advice would be to contact the teacher training route you are wanting to do and ask if they have edited their requirements on response to cornavirus and how that has impacted opportunities of teaching experience x

    Hi so can I do this as an undergraduate? And work my way through to a QTS. How long will it take if I take this route alone to become a primary school teacher? I'm confuzled do I do this SCITT after uni or before. If I go now (as an undergraduate) do I have to go uni after or do I just get my QTS and can leave after the year? Sorry if I'm a bit confusing :)

    • @learningwithliz2661
      @learningwithliz2661  4 года назад

      Hi there, so you do the year long SCITT training after you have an undergraduate degree. If you know you want to be a primary school teacher you can do an undergraduate degree at university for three years in primary education. Or you can do another three year degree in another subject and then do one year teacher training year on top. Hope this is helpful!

    I’m looking to do Primary SCITT next year! There are so many different options it’s so confusing! Do you get paid for SCITT / how do you apply?

    • @learningwithliz2661
      @learningwithliz2661  4 года назад +1

      Eloise Leahy Hi! With the Sheffield SCITT which I did last year you don’t get paid for teaching however you get a bursary (depending on your subject or just as a specific primary trainee) and then you also apply for student finance as there is a part time Masters qualification too. That means the money you are living off for the year is your student maintenance loan and your bursary money. I hope this helps! Best of luck with the application process x

    • @learningwithliz2661
      @learningwithliz2661  4 года назад

      Hi there, you do need a degree yes. You do not have to necessarily have a degree in the subject you want to teach, as long as you have studied an A Level in the subject (if you are going into secondary school teaching). I hope this answers your question!

    • @B1llysus4n

      @@B1llysus4n no problem! If you know you want to go into teaching there's the route of doing a degree as a primary school teacher! I'm not too sure if there's an option similar to that for secondary school teaching like I do. Doing a degree in a different subject gives you many routes you can take come 3 years time, though!

    Do you get paid for a scitt? Are you teaching RE? X

    • @learningwithliz2661
      @learningwithliz2661  4 года назад +1

      ros Hi 👋🏻 you get a teacher training bursary to see you through the year alongside your student finance, similar to university. This year I trained to be an RE teacher and received a £9000 bursary alongside my student loan (which alters for each person, depending on their previous earnings for 3 years, or their parents income). Different subjects have different amounts for their bursary, science received a £24,000 bursary, English received around £11,000-£15,000. So you will have enough money to survive the training year before you begin on an NQT salary! Hope this is helpful 😊

      Hi there! So, the two options you are thinking of doing in London are an English Masters qualification or a PGCE to become a teacher? If you know you want to be a teacher I would suggest doing a PGCE as that will lead you straight into a teacher job after you have finished it. If you don't want to go into teacher and like studying English I recommend you study it as a Masters and then after you have finished that year you can choose what profession you can go into. I hope this helps :)
